You Are Deep in The Stars - Chapter 58
A cigarette burned to the end, and the last wisp of blue smoke came out.
Han Zhuo threw the cigarette butt into the trash can and wanted to go back to the banquet hall. When he turned around, he saw someone standing at the balcony door looking at him—a man in his fifties with a kind face. Although he was wearing an exaggerated and funny dramatic dress, he still couldn’t hide his strong intellectual and bookish temperament.
“Do you have anything to do me?” Han Zhuo asked.
“Shouldn’t it be you who comes to me?” Liang Yi said with a smile. “Mr. Han, I have long admired you.”
Han Zhuo raised the corner of his mouth but expressed no comment.
“I guess you should have been paying close attention to Jingjing’s movements and have done a background check on me a long time ago.” Liang Yi took the initiative to come over. “So, we’d better save time because, first, it’s really cold on the balcony, and second, my girlfriend is still waiting for me to go back.”
“What exactly do you want to say?” Han Zhuo glanced behind him and found nothing unusual for the time being.
“I want to tell you that Jingjing was out of danger, and I had also formulated a treatment plan to gradually restore her deformed bones,” Liang Yi said. “If everything goes well, it would only take about three years for her to return to a normal life.” When he said this, his tone was quite casual, as if he was describing a very relaxed thing. But any superpower researcher knew that this was definitely a serious matter—an explosive, sensational achievement—even underground warehouses and Third Laboratory were far from it.
“I have always admired Mr. Han,” Liang Yi expressed his goodwill again. “It could even be said that I had admired his name for a long time.”
“This is not a good place to talk,” Han Zhuo shook his head.
“It doesn’t matter; there won’t be any annoying guys here.” Liang Yi smiled. “But I understand your concerns, so I look forward to seeing you at my hospital at four o’clock tomorrow afternoon.” As he said that, he took out another photo from his pocket and placed it into Han Zhuo’s hand. “Don’t worry; I don’t like underground warehouses either, and I don’t like most of the people in Beidou Research. Well, there’s one more thing: if you don’t mind, I want you to call Director Zhou again tomorrow. The relationship between you is in urgent need of some relaxation, and I am happy to act as the middleman.”
Han Zhuo glanced at the photo in his hand. It was an office. There was nothing special about it, but it clearly captured the layout in every direction. The purpose was obvious—to facilitate his teleport movement, and this ability was a secret that only a very few people knew.
“I do know a lot of things.” Before he asked, Liang Yi had already taken the initiative to admit it and raised his hand like a child. “But I promise not to tell anyone, including Zhou Yong.”
“Who are you?” Han Zhuo looked at him.
“You may have guessed that I was from the Beidou Research Institute.” The cold wind blew, and Liang Yi couldn’t help but shiver. He rubbed his cold arms with his hands and squeezed out a breath that was cold but not freezing. He smiled without enthusiasm. “It’s also the director who had no information, Liang Yi.”
Meeting the person in charge of the Beidou Research Institute in such a scene, and the other person being so frank, was indeed quite beyond Han Zhuo’s expectations. But as he had said just now, this was indeed not a good place for a conversation.
Han Zhuo reminded, “Someone is coming.”
“Huh?” Liang Yi turned around.
Zhuang Yan was wearing fifteen-centimetre-high heels and was leaning against the balcony door with a very confused look on her face. “What are you two talking about?” She had just learned from her son that this gentle man was Bai Xi’s bodyguard. It didn’t sound right; he didn’t seem like someone who could have anything in common with a doctor.
Han Zhuo smiled and said, “This gentleman was trying to persuade me to quit smoking.”
Liang Yi said innocently, “Sorry, professional habit.”
“It’s none of your business when young people smoke. Why don’t you worry about catching cold by standing here?” Zhuang Yan came over, took his arm, and complained softly.
“Okay, let’s go back now.” Liang Yi patted her hand and smiled. “Mr. Han, please go in too. It’s really too cold outside.”
Han Zhuo put the photo in his trouser pocket and returned to the banquet hall together.
The dance was still going on. The young, handsome, humble, and polite Bai Xi was undoubtedly the target of invitations from many beautiful girls. Even Mark Li, the host of this party, could only stand by the wine table with sadness, watching helplessly as his beloved soul friend was snatched away by someone else.
Han Zhuo found a seat with a wide view and ordered a glass of juice for himself. After half an hour, Bai Xi returned to him and complained softly, “Why didn’t you come to save me?”
“Because you had a great time, and those girls were also very cute,” Han Zhuo handed him a tissue. “Would you like a drink? The wild pineapple juice here is very sweet.”
“Aren’t you jealous?” Bai Xi observed carefully.
Mr. Han shook his head honestly.
“I find your point really strange.” Bai Xi tugged on his tie. He would care about Teacher Steve and Mark Li, but he didn’t care about beautiful girls.
“Hello.” At that moment, another young lady came over and summoned up the courage to say shyly, “Can I ask you to dance?”
Han Zhuo asked unexpectedly, “Me?”
Bai Xi: “…”
The other party nodded.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t dance, and I wasn’t a guest.” Han Zhuo stood up and gently and apologetically refused, “I am a bodyguard and could not leave my employer.”
“… Oh, I’m sorry.” The other party’s face turned red, and she hurriedly left.
Bai Xi held the juice cup in both hands and said sourly, “Didn’t you notice? She is the most beautiful girl at the whole ball, just like the little princess in the castle.”
“But I’m not interested in the little princess; I only wanted the little prince,” Mr. Han held his head with one hand, his eyes focused. “He is bright and dazzling, like the brightest star in the night.”
Bai Xi said, “Oh.”
He pursed his lips, trying to make his pride less obvious, and then changed the subject: “I got Ms. Zhuang’s business card, and she seemed to have a good impression of me. Should we contact her a few times first? Looking for another chance to get to know Dean Niu?”
“No need.” Han Zhuo shook his head.
Bai Xi was puzzled. “Why?”
Han Zhuo replied, “Because I had already talked with him while you were dancing. He was not only Dean Niu of Boai Private Hospital but also the director of Beidou Research Institute.”
Bai Xi opened his mouth wide. “Are you sure?”
“It should be certain that he personally admitted he was Liang Yi, and he was so upfront that it was shocking.” Han Zhuo said, “He also asked me to go to his office at four o’clock tomorrow afternoon.”
“Xiao Bai!” Mark Lee suddenly fell from the sky and said happily, “What follows is a joyful dance in the forest. You will definitely like it very much.”
“I… uh?” Bai Xi hesitated. He originally wanted to say that he had other things to do and needed to leave immediately, but he felt very sorry for this close friend. After all, it was through him that he could successfully meet Zhuang Yan and Liang Yi was a huge favour too. Even if it was just out of politeness, he should always do something to make him happy.
While he was hesitating, Mark Li had already unleashed his infinite power and dragged Xiao Bai to the front row of the dance floor.
Han Zhuo: “…”
The music was indeed brisk, and the projection lights on the ceiling kept changing their angles, turning the entire banquet hall into the Wizard of Oz in a fairy tale, full of wonder and joy. Looking at Director Ma’s elated face, Mr. Han called the waiter and ordered himself a glass of calm ice water.
This was the most joyful dance, and it also lasted the longest, a full fifteen minutes.
Liang Yi held his waist and panted. Mark Li whispered worriedly, “Mom, your boyfriend this time doesn’t seem to be doing well?”
A fierce light flashed in Zhuang Yan’s eyes.
Mark Li was shocked. He quickly retracted his right foot and ran to find his soul friend to complain, but Bai Xi had already disappeared into the banquet hall and had only asked the waiter to hand over a note expressing his regret. Thank you and apologies, but he really had to leave, and they would have dinner together another day.
Mark Lee squatted on the ground and held his chest with both hands.
Ah! Lost!
Bai Xi dragged Han Zhuo, and the two of them ran out of the elevator and got into the car with smiles.
“Do you know what you looked like just now?” Han Zhuo asked.
Bai Xi thought for a while. “Cinderella who escaped from the ball?”
“Yeah, it’s very cute.” Mr. Han came over and kissed him. “So, a kiss was needed to continue the magic; otherwise, the car would turn into a pumpkin.”
“Hey…” Bai Xi protested, “This is a parking lot.”
“So?” Han Zhuo asked.
“So, we had to get out of here first.” Bai Xi finally broke free and pushed the pervert to the driver’s seat. He pulled the seatbelt and buckled it. Finally, he held his hands and pressed the steering wheel. He said sternly, “Be good, obedient.”
“Are we really not going to do anything?” Mr. Han started the car and continued joking. “It’s a big loss for you to support me like this.”
“Wait a minute, don’t go home yet,” Bai Xi handed the phone to him. “Let’s go to this restaurant to eat.”
“Eating?” Han Zhuo was a little surprised. “I thought you would want to know the content of my chat with Liang Yi.”
“I really want to know, but today is Christmas Eve.” Bai Xi said, “Since you weren’t in a hurry to tell me, it meant that it wasn’t really urgent, so I guessed we could postpone it until later.” He touched Mr. Han’s side face, showed another smile, and said, “Every holiday festival is important, right?”
“Every holiday with you is important,” Han Zhuo corrected, held his hand again, brought it to his mouth, and kissed it.
