You Are Deep in The Stars - Chapter 55
Mr. Han pinched Bai Xi’s cheek, expressing a silent and deep protest with his eyes.
However, Mark Li on the other end had already happily agreed and promised to arrive within half an hour.
“How is it?” Bai Xi hung up the phone. “Has his status surpassed that of Teacher Steve now?”
“Not yet, but they can tie for first place,” Han Zhuo said, unable to help but kiss him on the cheek. “I’m next door; I won’t bother. You can chat slowly with Director Ma.”
Bai Xi took out a pack of love letter biscuits from the drawer and sent Mr. Han to the lounge next door.
Twenty minutes later, Liu Chunchun nearly knocked someone over at the door of the company. He looked at the large bouquet of rainbow roses and the bearded man hidden among the rose bushes with shock on his face and asked, “Are you looking for Mr. Bai? Is this flower for Mr. Bai?”
“Yes!” the other party replied.
Liu Chunchun didn’t know the progress of Bai Xi’s relationship yet. He thought Bai Xi was still a happy bachelor who needed to celebrate Singles’ Day just like himself, so he suddenly became jealous and, like police, asked, “Who gave it to you? Was it from the model agency opposite?”
“What modelling company? This is a gift from me. Mr. Bai invited me to have afternoon tea,” Mark Li emphasized. “I already made an appointment. Where is Mr. Bai’s office?”
“Do you want to give it to him?” Liu Chunchun’s outlook was refreshed once again. He had never seen a customer bring a large bouquet of colourful roses when they came for afternoon tea.
Bai Xi’s assistant came over personally and took the guest to the president’s office. Although Liu Chunchun really wanted to gossip, he hadn’t finished the work at hand, so he had to put the matter aside for the time being and planned to cross-examine him after getting off work.
Bai Xi himself was also shocked by the bouquet of Mary Sue roses that had come to life. He said, “Come on, why do you need to buy flowers?”
“I’m so embarrassed to be empty-handed,” Mark Li said, stuffing the roses into an empty vase. “And this is a prom-themed bouquet. I just brought it in as a gift today. How about it?”
“Very good.” Bai Xi breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. “It seems that your party will be grand.”
“It’s not very grand, but quite grand.” Mark Li took out a huge drawing from his broken backpack and spread it on Bai Xi’s desk with a clatter. “I’ll show you the venue layout first. I think this part is too big. It’s boring. I plan to replace it with ninety-nine crystal dream columns, but the others are okay.”
Bai Xi looked at the conceptual diagram that resembled a dreamy crystal forest and said with complicated emotions, “Is it okay to call this?”
Bai Xi added, “Isn’t this too wasteful? Is it just a masquerade, or is there some key person present, so you make it so extravagant?”
“It’s okay. I have the backing of my sponsor.” Mark Li took another apple from his bag and took a bite. “The more I spend, the happier she will be. She will give me whatever I want. She will accept any request.”
Bai Xi couldn’t help but think of the domineering female CEO.
So, he asked calmly, “So good? Who is it?”
“I can’t tell you yet.” Mark Li was very cautious this time, but he added, “When our relationship reaches a certain level, I will introduce her to you.”
Han Zhuo: “…”
Bai Xi slapped the table and said angrily, “Isn’t the relationship between us close enough?”
Mark Li was startled and almost swallowed the apple. He thought about it solemnly and then said, “It’s still a little bit new.”
Bai Xi: “…”
The office became quiet.
Bai Xi’s eyes were full of sorrow and sadness, holding the charm of a big hawthorn of love.
Mark Li’s back felt numb, so he took the initiative to pull out another apple from his bag and gingerly pushed it in front of Mr. Bai. “Calm down.”
Bai Xi asked, “Are the people in the literary and art circles so unkind and unjust?”
“That can’t be true. You are obviously the one who is heartless and unjust,” Mark Li said. “Businessmen value profits over relationship.”
“Then who is hiding it now?” Bai Xi asked. “I haven’t even hidden my financial backer.”
‘Of course, you don’t have to hide it; the whole world knows that your sponsor is your biological father!’, Mark Li thought solemnly, ‘but it’s different for me because my sponsor is my mother.’
.
Bai Xi said, “I won’t go to your party.”
“No, no, no, no! I didn’t even invite you as a female companion; I just want to enter the venue with you.” Mark Li was surprised to hear this. He rushed over, hugged Bai Xi’s arm, and, refusing to let go, exclaimed with great emotion, “We are the best friends; every conversation is filled with the pure fragrance of literature and movies.”
“Soul friends also need to earn money to support their families.” Bai Xi took a bite of the apple that symbolized friendship. “If you don’t introduce a few rich people to me, I might starve to death.”
“…Okay, I’ll introduce you to her at the dance.” Mark Li stepped back. “But I have to go home and ask for her opinion first.”
Bai Xi was secretly elated and shook his hand vigorously. “Deal!”
In light of this soul friend’s good performance, Bai Xi always set aside his work and willingly chatted with him about Shakespeare for two hours before allowing the driver to take him back.
Mr. Han glanced at the large bouquet of rainbow roses in the corner and commented, “Tacky.”
“Careful,” Bai Xi leaned back in his chair. “But I’ve seen it today. Anything is possible in the literary and art circles. Mark Li’s financial backer isn’t really Ms. Zhuang, right? What’s going on with Niu Daxiang?”
“I don’t know,” Han Zhuo shook his head and replied calmly. “After all, there is no relationship that can be described between me and Director Ma.”
It was normal for him not to guess what the other person was thinking.
