You Are Deep in The Stars - Chapter 55
Liang Yi hung up the phone, straightened his pyjamas in the full-length mirror, and then turned back to the bedroom.
Sitting next to the bed was a middle-aged woman who still retained her charm. She looked particularly bright and enthusiastic, especially since she was wearing a graceful and luxurious tutu, like a British lady who had stepped out of an oil painting.
Liang Yi opened his eyes and said, “Oh?”
“Come here and help me straighten the zipper.” The middle-aged woman stood up and complained while tightening her belly. “My son is going to hold a masquerade party next month. What do you think of this skirt? Do you have any thoughts? Very A Midsummer Night’s Dream?”
Liang Yi nodded. “Very good.”
“You also have to go together. Remember to read more Shakespeare during this period.” The middle-aged woman added, “Whether Xiao Ma can agree to our relationship depends on your performance.”
Liang Yi said fearfully, “Of course, of course.”
The middle-aged woman was named Zhuang Yan, and she was also the biological mother of director Mark Li. A widowed lady, she had inherited a rich inheritance from her deceased husband in her early years. Due to her good management, she currently had dozens of companies under her name. Liang Yi had fallen in love with her at first sight in the hotel lobby, so he staged a sunset red version of “Stop, My Domineering Female CEO.” Although the process had been very bumpy, fortunately, the ending was quite happy. The two had now entered the stage of living together, just waiting to pass the test of the step son before the two families officially became one.
Of course, like all people who worked in state secret agencies, Liang Yi did not tell Zhuang Yan his true identity. What was more egregious than others was that he even had a fake name—Niu Daxiang, 53 years old, always single, owned a private hospital with good operating conditions, and was considered a typical middle-class person. However, although his personal information was fake, his feelings for Ms. Zhuang were quite sincere and passionate. This was the first time in many years that he had discovered fun outside of medical research, so he was very excited about it.
.
Three days later, Han Zhuo said, “Zhou Jing was picked up.”
“What do you mean she was taken over?” Bai Xi asked. “Underground warehouse or Beidou Research Institute?”
“A private hospital,” Han Zhuo said. “It’s very close to Xinghai Road.”
“So that’s also a hidden research institute for superpowers?” Bai Xi was already used to this kind of thing. “Does it belong to Shi Tian?”
“The people who came to pick her up were from the Beidou Research Institute, so I guess that private hospital has nothing to do with Shi Tian but is under the jurisdiction of the government.” Han Zhuo handed him another piece of printed paper. “This is the director’s information. I can’t see anything happening at the moment.”
“But it must be a top scientific researcher; otherwise, Zhou Jing would not have been sent there.” Bai Xi scanned the information. “Niu Daxiang… unmarried?”
“He has dedicated his whole life to the cause he loves,” Han Zhuo said. “But recently, Dean Niu seems to have found the other half of his life, the pretty and beautiful Zhuang Yan. You should have heard of this name.”
“I know, a well-known domineering female CEO.” Bai Xi nodded and said distressed, “I found that I have another problem now. Everyone looks like Ultraman.” Including Ms. Zhuang, who was said to be the most powerful in the industry, dressed in a rose-red broad-shouldered suit that looked like a mobile mountain cannon when worn by ordinary people. But when worn by her, it looked like a majestic alien queen descending from the sky.
Bai Xi typed in the word “Zhuang Yan” in the search app, and a large list of photos immediately appeared. They were all plump, gorgeous, and flamboyant, adorned with diamonds the size of pigeon eggs, wearing fifteen-centimetre-high heels, and posing with new sports cars that were like collectors’ items. The page slid over hastily, and Bai Xi suddenly exclaimed in shock, “Has Mark Li been kept by her?”
Han Zhuo drank all the water into his windpipe.
It was an inconspicuous titbit. The main argument was that Ms. Zhuang had just brought home a luxurious new car less than a week ago, and director Mark Li had driven it onto the set to use it as a tractor. After pulling props and lunch boxes, it had been scraped into what he didn’t feel bad about doing—abstract paintings.
But it was a pity that today’s netizens no longer followed the wind and rain as before. In addition, director Mark Li was not famous, and he was too unkempt. His face was covered with stubble, and there was no trace of beauty at all. He truly had no capital to be a kept boy, so this news did not stir up any splash. One year after it was posted, there were only two comments below, and they were all advertisements for heightening.
“At least it means they know each other, and they should have a good relationship; otherwise, he wouldn’t use Ms. Zhuang’s new car to drive braised chicken and durian cakes,” Bai Xi said. “Do you want to contact him?”
Mr. Han: “…”
“Be good.” Bai Xi touched his hair and then dialled Director Ma’s phone number.
“Hello?” Mark Li’s voice was very cautious. He was worried that the cold bodyguard had discovered the text message he secretly sent, so he called to reprimand him.
“It’s me,” Bai Xi said.
Mark Li suddenly burst into tears and said sadly, “I really miss you.”
Mr. Han’s face was grim.
“I’m really sorry; I’ve been too busy recently.” Bai Xi said. “It’s hard to have free time this afternoon.”
“It’s okay; I understand.” Mark Li felt the same. “Nothing is easy these days, and you have to work hard too.”
“About that Shakespeare—”
“Are you willing to come?” Before Bai Xi finished speaking, Mark Li couldn’t wait to interrupt.
“Uh…” Bai Xi glanced at Mr. Han and hesitated. “I can think about it.”
Mark Li said with tears in his eyes, “Okay, okay.”
“What are you busy with recently?” Bai Xi asked again. “I mean besides this A Midsummer Night’s Dream party. Do you have any other work?”
“No, so I am quite free. If the cold bodyguard isn’t here, I can even come to the company to have tea with you,” Mark Li said.
“Then come on, now.” Bai Xi replied, “He has something to do and won’t be able to come to the company until tomorrow.”
