Yandere girls and my fragmented daily life - Chapter 16
Suddenly, Ling Fan inadvertently brushed against Xu YanRan’s cheek with a slight turn of his head.
Xu YanRan, who was on the verge of losing her composure, was jolted awake by the touch.
Looking at the broken pen in her hand, she couldn’t help but ask herself,
“What am I doing?”
“Xu YanRan, are you paying attention?” Ling Fan noticed that Xu YanRan seemed distracted and turned to ask.
“I, I was just zoning out,” Xu YanRan said, quickly putting the broken pen into her pocket as she let go of Ling Fan.
“Is that so? It’s alright. I’ll explain again,” Ling Fan said, not finding it unusual. Xu YanRan was known to be easily distracted, so he wasn’t too concerned. It’s no big deal explaining again.
“Thanks for your trouble,” Xu YanRan said, her breathing a bit hurried and still somewhat uneasy.
Ling Fan stood up to stretch his neck and glanced at Xu YanRan.
Xu YanRan was not in a good state, Ling Fan concluded.
“You don’t look too well. Let’s take a break for now.” Ling Fan said. After a moment of hesitation, he reached out and gently patted Xu YanRan’s head.
It was the first time he had ever patted her head.
“Hmm~”
Time flew by, and the sun was setting.
Su MoRan woke up from the lazy sofa and glanced at the time—it was nearly five o’clock.
“I’ve slept for quite a while. I wonder where Ling Fan is. It should be about time for him to come back.” Su MoRan stretched lazily.
“Should I give Ling Fan a call?” Su MoRan suddenly had this thought.
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, Su MoRan couldn’t shake it off.
After hesitating for a moment, Su MoRan picked up her phone and dialled Ling Fan’s number.
She didn’t need to search through her contacts; Ling Fan’s number was already etched in her memory.
“I’m leaving now, Xu YanRan. I feel like you’re not in the best mental state today. Honestly, I’m quite worried about you,” Ling Fan said while tidying up his things.
“I understand. Thank you for your concern.” Xu YanRan, distracted by her thoughts of this afternoon’s events, managed a smile as she replied to Ling Fan.
Ling Fan, seeing this, remained silent and sighed inwardly.
As Ling Fan was still packing up his things, his phone rang. He took out his phone and saw it was a call from Su MoRan.
Why is Su MoRan calling me?
“I’m going to take a call.” After saying this to Xu YanRan, Ling Fan walked toward the restroom. His intuition told him it would be best not to take the call next to Xu YanRan.
Xu YanRan glanced up at him but didn’t respond.
Seeing this, Ling Fan went into the restroom.
After Ling Fan closed the door, Xu YanRan quickly stood up and walked over to the restroom door.
“Hey, MoRan, is there something you need?”
Even though Ling Fan deliberately lowered his voice, Xu YanRan could hear very clearly outside due to the silence.
“Ling Fan, why is your voice so low…”
“I’m not in a good place to talk right now. What’s the matter?” Ling Fan felt a bit uneasy, occasionally glancing at the bathroom door.
“Well… it’s nothing much. I just wanted to ask when you’ll come over.”
“I’ll be there soon, in about ten minutes.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you at home.”
“Ok,” Ling Fan answered and quickly hung up the phone, also taking the opportunity to relieve himself.
Damn, why does it feel like there’s so much pressure today… Ling Fan frowned in the restroom.
“Hey, MoRan…” Those three words finally became the last straw that broke Xu YanRan.
The final thread of Xu YanRan’s composure snapped.
After Ling Fan hung up the phone, Xu YanRan quietly left the door and walked towards her room.
Mo Ran… Ling Fan is going to her house this late?
So the girl’s name is MoRan.
So Ling Fan has been calling her so affectionately all the time.
So Ling Fan’s words of concern for me were all lies.
So, Ling Fan went to that girl’s house every afternoon after leaving.
Maybe it won’t be long before Ling Fan stops tutoring me.
The person walking by his side isn’t me.
What should I do? It seems like I can no longer let go.
Then I’ll just keep Ling Fan here forever.
At this moment, Xu YanRan was like a marionette, ascending the stairs to the second floor like a puppet on strings. She mechanically opened her bedroom door and took out an electric stun gun from the drawer of her desk.
This was something Xu ZhongHao had bought for her self-defence. With the stun gun in hand, Xu YanRan headed toward her father’s room.
Her vacant eyes scanned the room, and she walked over to a storage cabinet and opened the door.
Inside were various military cold weapons; Xu ZhongHao seemed to have a particular interest in collecting these items.
After taking out an M9 bayonet, Xu YanRan squinted at it and then gently cut her finger with it.
A thin line of blood immediately appeared on her artistic-looking finger. Seemingly satisfied with the sharpness of the dagger, Xu YanRan sheathed it and began searching for something else.
As Ling Fan stepped out of the restroom, an unprecedented sense of crisis surged within him.
Why is this happening? Why do I feel like this?
This overwhelming fear seemed to assault his senses, shaking him to his core.
The unease in his heart had reached a level that made him shiver uncontrollably.
He hadn’t experienced this kind of feeling in a long time.
“Xu YanRan, are you there? I’m leaving now.” Ling Fan’s legs trembled as he forced himself to call out towards the second floor.
There was no response. The empty building was eerily quiet, resonating solely with his voice.
Suddenly, Ling Fan heard a faint metallic clinking sound, and instantly, every hair on his body stood on end.
Grabbing his backpack, Ling Fan hurried to the door, pushed it open, and fled outside.
An overwhelming sense of dread overwhelmed his thoughts, compelling him to flee the building with utmost urgency. As he sprinted, something slipped out of his backpack and landed at the door, but Ling Fan didn’t stop to check what it was.
He’ll just come back for it next time.
Ling Fan looked back at the house as he stood outside. The Xu family’s villa now resembled a wild beast, ready to devour anyone in its path. The open door seemed like a bottomless abyss.
Worrying that Xu Yanran might still be in her room and leaving the door open at night was unsafe, Ling Fan, despite his fear, mustered his courage, walked back, and shut the door. After ensuring the door was closed, he quickly left the Xu family residence.
“Ling Fan, you can’t escape,” Xu YanRan said with a smile, watching Ling Fan’s retreating figure from the second floor. She knows that he is now likely going to Su MoRan’s house.
Holding the dagger in one hand, Xu YanRan placed the handcuffs and the stun gun into her small bag. The sound Ling Fan had heard was the clinking of the handcuffs.
Despite her beautiful figure and captivating features, Xu YanRan’s eyes were now hollow and devoid of emotion, and her smile was eerie, making her appear like a broken doll.
Carrying her small bag and holding the dagger, Xu YanRan slowly walked towards the front door.
