Warhammer: The Worst Start There Is (40k) - Chapter 3: Authentication Tasks
“The database contains vast knowledge of human technology. After completing relevant certification tasks, the host gains access to the database. The Sovereign Template can assist the host in collecting beliefs. The more beings recognize the host, the stronger the power the host receives. The host can view data on those who acknowledge them, but cannot view individuals who acknowledge other Chaos Gods. Please handle with caution.”
“The auxiliary spirit can answer questions you pose and assist you in accessing the database’s knowledge.”
“This, is this of any use in this kind of world? Wouldn’t a combat-oriented ability be better in here?” Guilliman’s heart sank.
Guilliman really wanted to express his inner frustration.
Isn’t this just sending him to his death?
“This assistant trusts the host, please work hard, host.”
“Your trust in me is worth shit. I don’t even dare to trust myself.”
Guilliman was silently cursing in his heart.
Trusting me? Even the Emperor, that remarkable figure, has been sent up to sit on the golden throne ever since Horus Heresy. Others are even worse off.
This is no joke.
The Emperor is a character who holds the main character template.
In terms of strength, he could extinguish stars with his psychic power alone. The Four Chaos Gods had to join forces to deal with him.
In terms of strategy, he could beat down all kinds of xenos and defeat various warlords, achieving unification.
In terms of ideology, he even conducted a “deicide” movement after being the God Emperor.
In terms of achievements, he united humanity, established the Astronomican, laid the foundation of the Imperium for ten thousand years, and only fell short of realizing the ultimate vision of universal ascension.
To be honest, Guilliman has never seen a novel write such an amazing protagonist.
In a scenario where the Four Chaos Gods and the traitors work together, such a character ascended to the golden throne and endured ten thousand years of torment.
Who dares to say they could do better than the Emperor?
Guilliman understood that with this kind of “Golden finger,” he couldn’t win. At best, he could delay his death a bit, but in the end, he would still die.
“Sir.”
Guilliman had been lost in thought until the voice of Saint Celestine brought him back from his contemplation.
Celestine’s voice was pleasant to the ears, carrying a unique magnetism of a saint.
It was irresistible to want to listen to her voice.
After enduring a brutal bloodbath, Celestine’s battle armor was now in tatters, covered in horrifying wounds. Even with her incredible healing abilities, blood continued to flow from the wounds, making for a distressing sight.
Celestine was also one of the heroes of Guilliman’s resurrection. It was her suggestion that convinced the Black Templar and many other factions to protect the archmagos dominus, Cawl.
This allowed Cawl, the archmagos dominus who knew the method to revive Guilliman, to safely evacuate from the fallen Cadia Fortress and rally Space Marines along the way to come to Macragge.
These gathered warriors along the way ultimately helped the archmagos dominus Cawl complete the ritual to resurrect Guilliman.
Guilliman looked at Celestine with a questioning gaze.
“Thanks to the Emperor, the great progenitor, for sending you back to us,” Celestine said, suppressing her injuries as she bowed slightly.
Saints were the Emperor’s most faithful followers and were considered the Emperor’s envoys in the world.
In the dark, desperate, and bloody galaxy, they were the brightest beacon of hope for humanity and a testament to humanity’s continued protection under the Emperor.
Saints were rare within the Imperium.
Blessed by the Emperor for their noble character and unwavering faith, they possessed a portion of the Emperor’s power.
As for the Emperor’s offspring, Celestine held absolute loyalty towards them as well.
Her words trembled with emotion, as witnessing a Primarch of the Emperor’s return filled her with a glimmer of hope for humanity’s future, dispelling the prior despair.
“Father.”
The Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, Calgar, also approached.
His resolute face was filled with uncontrollable excitement as he looked up at the resurrected progenitor, his eyes already blurred by tears.
The Ultramarine Legion had persisted for ten thousand years and had been guarding the Imperium for ten thousand years.
To be able to witness the return of the Genefather today made them all unable to hold back their tears of joy.
The legions that utilized genetic seeds referred to the Primarchs as “Father,” using this term to express gratitude for the second chance at rebirth that they had been given.
In the presence of Guilliman, who was acclaimed as the Imperium’s legend, Calgar became as flustered as a new recruit.
“I’m deeply gratified that after ten thousand years, my descendants are still fighting for humanity,” Guilliman said with the tone of a father, looking at Calgar.
Though his soul was from another realm, he inherited all of Guilliman’s memories and powers, allowing him to calmly face the people gathering around him.
“Regent.”
Mechanicus Cawl, Black Templar Marshal, and Judges also approached.
Ten thousand years ago, after the end of the Horus Heresy, Guilliman, who had arrived, was entrusted with a heavy responsibility by the wounded Emperor and became the Imperial Regent of the Imperium.
“I’m pleased to see you all again.”
Guilliman glanced over the crowd, his tone somber yet commanding.
“The Imperium needs your guidance, Emperor’s offspring.”
Celestine gazed at the progenitor’s face, her excitement barely concealed in her voice.
As a believer, her long-held wish had once again come true, filling her with a sense of comfort.
The resurrection of an Emperor’s Primarch, who would now lead as a demi-god on the battlefield, guiding the Imperium to overcome day and night, the ceaseless encroachments of darkness upon humanity.
After enduring ten thousand years of darkness, the Imperium had finally welcomed a glimmer of dawn.
“I have returned for this purpose.”
Guilliman calmly looked at everyone, his determined gaze infusing them with courage, causing an inexplicable sense of security to well up within them.
“My return will make our enemies tremble, the citizens of the Imperium rejoice, and the radiance of humanity will once again shine in this dark expanse of stars. All invaders will pay the price for their actions.”
Guilliman’s words held weight, engendering trust.
He was the Primarch, and he would surely fulfill all that he had promised.
【Host has successfully triggered the authentication task. Please expel the Chaos forces from Macragge. Reward: Unlock Level 1 Database Access.】
【Level 1 access allows you to peruse knowledge about the First-generation Dark Matter Engine, Star-Extinguishing-class weapons, and much more.】
【Assist the host in accomplishing technological innovations to rejuvenate the Imperium with new vitality.】
Upon hearing the assistant spirit’s prompt, Guilliman immersed his consciousness into the database, examining the details of the mission rewards.
Unlocking Level 1 access to the database, which includes knowledge about First-generation Dark Matter Engines and Star-Extinguishing-class weapons, was quite good.
Create more weapons, blast through the obstacles, and let the xenomorphs and Daemons appreciate the art of stellar destruction.
The joy of glass-burning, isn’t it all about this?
