Chapter 8: Treasure Discovered!

When I came to, I realized I was no longer in the same room. Instead, I found myself in a vast space that resembled a stadium. The dim lighting and the high ceiling made it feel like a giant domed arena.

From deep within the room, something glimmered with a faint blue light. What was that? Treasure? Could it be treasure?!

The blue light seemed to beckon me, its shimmer irresistible.

Without a second thought, I stored the glowing object.

A mechanical voice echoed in my head.

Did I store the Core Guardian? And that counted as defeating it?

The item newly added to my storage appeared to be… a mannequin? Or something similar. By focusing on it, I somehow knew its name: Machinador. Was this the Core Guardian?

I approached and walked through, entering another spacious chamber. In the center stood a luminous, white, spherical stone about 50 centimeters in diameter, hovering slightly above a silver pedestal.

As if guided, I reached out and gently placed my right hand on the sphere.

Whoa! Does this mean I’m the master of this dungeon now? That has to be it!

“Through the Core, you can observe the state of any location within the labyrinth.”

I’ll check that later.

The voice went silent. I removed my hand from the Core and decided to check out the treasure vault.

Well, when in doubt, store everything.

After finishing, I’d emptied the treasure vault. I’d sort through everything later. For now, I returned to the Core Room to rest.

Instinctively, I placed my hand back on the Core.

“Take the book titled The First Black Tome from the treasure vault and say ‘Connect.’ This will unlock the ‘Appraise’ skill.”

Found it. “Release.”

A thick, black-covered book appeared in my hands. I gripped it and said, “Connect.”
