- Chapter 30 - Self-Defense Counterattack
“Two young masters and young miss, I wasn’t wrong, was I? Up ahead is Gu Yao. My men saw him come out of his residence with their own eyes,” a man with a rat-like appearance said obsequiously to Gu Xing and Gu Chen in the corner.
“Got it. You can leave now,” Gu Xing waved him off.
“Then I won’t disturb you any longer, young masters.” The man quickly turned to leave but then glanced back at the two young masters, his eyes glinting with malice. Though these two were from the Gu family, everyone knew they were useless. If it weren’t for the Gu family’s influence, they would have already dealt with these spoiled brats.
Gu Xing’s eyes burned with anger as he watched Gu Yao casually strolling. This wretched person was a disaster. Not only did he harm others after leaving the Gu family, but he also caused her mother to be confined, a full year in isolation. By the time her mother got out, it would be too late to make a difference. Even their father didn’t dare ask their grandfather for mercy.
It was all because of this wretched person! If she had known earlier, she wouldn’t have just given him a simple beating but would have directly had him killed!
“Sis, what if we go back? If Grandfather finds out we’re making trouble for Gu Yao, we might be punished even more,” Gu Chen said worriedly, thinking of the recent situation.
“Are you scared to go back? I don’t believe that after I deal with this wretched person, Grandfather will punish me for him!” Gu Xing’s words were filled with fury. Hadn’t the issue with Grandfather’s birthday banquet been settled the same way? Gu Xing believed her value in the Gu family was far greater than that of Gu Yao, and the reason all those who sought trouble with him failed was because of that man, Chi Changye, supporting him. Just thinking about that man, whom she had sent to Gu Yao’s bed, made Gu Xing want to vomit blood.
With anger boiling inside, Gu Xing stormed out, and Gu Chen quickly followed, afraid she would end up in trouble. He couldn’t just leave her to go back alone.
In his eyes, it was better to deal with Gu Yao in secret rather than openly confronting him. The Gu family was powerful, and they had the upper hand. What was there to fear about taking care of the weak and powerless Gu Yao?
However, his sister had been spoiled by their mother and always acted impulsively. When she was riled up, few could stop her.
“Gu Yao, you wretched person, die!” Gu Xing rushed forward and slapped toward Gu Yao. If Gu Yao were still the same as before, with only the cultivation of the second level of Qi Refining, and was attacked from behind, a slap from Gu Xing, who was at the third level of Qi Refining, would have either killed him or left him severely injured.
Gu Yao had already sensed the malice coming from a certain direction. With a sweep of his spiritual sense, he saw Gu Xing and Gu Chen standing there. Normally, a cultivator at the third level of Qi Refining could only develop a weak spiritual sense, with a small range of coverage. However, Gu Yao, having crossed over with dual S-tier mental power, now possessed a spiritual sense that was nearly on par with higher-level Qi Refining cultivators.
So, Gu Xing’s every move was seen by him, including her preparing to strike. When she got close enough, Gu Yao casually flicked his hand, sending out a fireball talisman. It was a low-level talisman, as he feared using a mid-level one might accidentally kill that wretched girl. He wasn’t afraid of killing, but doing so would cause endless trouble.
“Boom!”
“Sis—Gu Yao, you dare!”
Gu Xing, unprepared, was struck by the fireball. The explosion caused her hair and clothes to catch fire. Gu Xing screamed desperately, and Gu Chen shot him a resentful glance before rushing to put out the flames. Using a water gathering talisman, he managed to douse the fire, but Gu Xing’s face was now disfigured with burns, her hair a mess. Gu Yao couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Gu Chen, kill him! Kill him now!” Gu Xing cradled her face and screamed in agony.
“Gu Yao, how dare you use a talisman against my sister?” Gu Chen roared in fury.
Gu Yao’s laughter instantly stopped, and his expression turned cold. “You two siblings have always acted like you’re in the right when dealing with me, but I can’t fight back? Let’s not even talk about who is behind this attempt to kill me, even if it were you, Gu Xing, I’d still fight back. Do you expect me to just stand there and let that wretched girl kill me?”
“Now that you have some backing, you really don’t take us seriously. Well, let me see what you can do now. Take this!” Gu Chen said as he drew his sword and lunged at Gu Yao. Of course, he wasn’t going to follow his sister’s orders to kill Gu Yao, but he at least wanted to teach him a lesson.
“Who dares to cause trouble in our Tian family’s market?” The Tian family’s guards rushed over after receiving the news, furious that someone would dare make a move on their territory—this was practically courting death!
The leader of the group saw Gu Chen charging at Gu Yao with a sword in hand. With a wave of his hand, he threw Gu Chen to the ground. Gu Chen rolled a few times before finally stopping.
It was only then that the leader seemed to recognize Gu Chen’s identity and exclaimed in surprise, “So it’s Young Master Gu Chen. My apologies, I didn’t control myself. Young Master Gu Chen wasn’t hurt, right? However, on our Tian family’s territory, I hope you two young masters and young ladies will be more restrained. Otherwise, you might have to pay a visit to the Gu family.”
They were under the protection of the Tian family, so if the Gu family made a fool of themselves, they would naturally be very pleased.
“Young Master Gu Yao, you weren’t frightened, were you?” The man turned and asked Gu Yao, his attitude now much more respectful.
Gu Yao waved his hand and said, “Just now someone yelled from behind asking me to die, so I got scared and threw a fireball talisman. I hope it didn’t cause any trouble for you all. I was really frightened at the time, it was just a reflexive action.”
“Young Master Gu Yao was only defending himself. This matter has nothing to do with him. Where is Young Master Chi? Perhaps we should escort Young Master Gu Yao back,” the man said eagerly.
“That would be good. Thank you, brothers,” Gu Yao replied.
The group ignored Gu Xing and Gu Chen, walking away proudly in front of them. Gu Xing was so enraged that she started shaking, and in the end, she fainted.
“Sis—”
