- Chapter 65 - Episode 065: Evolutions, One After Another
**Episode 065: Evolutions, One After Another**
“Meowww!!”
Next to evolve was Chloro.
As it wasn’t a special evolution, finding only black shadow stones proved quite challenging, but we finally managed to find them.

There weren’t significant changes in body size or appearance. Instead, the magic Mirage, which blends into the scenery, transformed Chloro into an Invisible being, completely invisible. Its presence became faint, and one could easily lose sight of it. Evolving into the Invisible Cat endowed it with superior stealth and ambush capabilities, though not as pronounced as in special evolutions. Nonetheless, it became noticeably stronger.
From now on, I’ll have Chloro use Invisibility to accompany us without being seen.
“Guess this wraps up today.”
Since it was already dusk and returning to the city’s gate before it closed seemed unlikely, we decided to camp out. We divided the familiars into three groups based on balance, with me joining the weakest combat group, taking turns to rest.
There were no nighttime attacks, and we welcomed the next morning without incident.
“Chi!!”
And the next day, Lily evolved.
――――――――――――――
Individual Name: Lily
Species: Flame Thunder Eagle
Attribute: Fire/Thunder

Its appearance underwent significant changes. Growing to about 90cm in size, its predominantly red body turned into a crimson hue, with hints of yellow at the edges. Moreover, it emitted crackling sparks like tiny flashes of lightning from its body surface. Although this effect had no impact on me or my fellow familiars, anyone else touching it would experience a shocking, tingling sensation from the electric charge.
Additionally, Fire Ball transformed into Fire Lance, and it learned a new skill called Thunder Lance. This magic emits a giant spear-like flame and lightning, far surpassing the power of multiple basic Fire Balls. This monster is also highly rare, with scant information in the guidebook.
Furthermore, with such drastic changes in appearance, passing through as a Fire Kite would be challenging. Taking it to the Mercenary Guild would draw too much attention. It might be better to walk with someone else who hasn’t evolved so remarkably. Ideally, I’d like to upgrade the stables at the breeding ranch early on by asking someone for a proxy contract, likely with El and the others. I’ll discuss it with them soon.
Despite searching for several more days, it seems we won’t find all the evolution materials for Prue, Luna, and Asura here. We’ll likely need to head to Evil Mountain.
“All right, now we’ve gathered Lita’s share too.”
“Yes, Master.”
Just because of that, we managed to gather Lita’s share of evolution materials. All that’s left is to level up.
I haven’t checked the evolution requirements yet, but considering the trend so far, it seems we’ll be shuttling between Silver Canyon and Evil Mountain in the future.
“It’s about time we head back. I’m sure Airi is starting to worry.”
Everyone responded cheerfully, and we descended from Silver Canyon.
“Good work, everyone. Oh, it seems like some of you have evolved.”
“Yes, thanks to your help.”
“I haven’t done anything. Nevertheless, I sense a power that doesn’t quite match your C-rank.”
As soon as we entered Noir Forest, Sasha appeared out of nowhere to greet me.
Then, Sasha glanced at the evolved Lily, Paula, and Chloro with admiration. It seems even Sasha could tell the difference.
“Special evolutions must be really something.”
“Can’t even imagine how strong we’ll become if we keep evolving.”
“I feel the same way.”
Now we’re at C-rank. There are still five levels left: B, A, S, SS, and SSS. The strength when reaching SSS rank will be unimaginable.
“More importantly, you’ve been gone for quite a few days. I suspected as much, but I was a little worried.”
“Sorry to worry you. The materials were rare, so it took longer than expected. My apologies for not bringing any sweets.”
“It’s not about that… Well, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. Just bring more next time.”
“Understood.”
Though she seemed somewhat dissatisfied, Sasha escorted me to the southern edge of the forest.
“Thank you for today. I’ll bring sweets again tomorrow.”
“Yes, I’ll be waiting.”
Saying goodbye to Sasha, I returned home.
“I’m back!”
“Ah, big brother!! You’re late!! I was worried, you know?!”
As soon as I entered the house, she sensed my return and rushed over looking displeased.
An unprecedented shock hit me.
Surely, the enhanced benefits from Chloro’s evolution were evident in both her sensing ability and the force of her rush.
“Oh, sorry, sorry. Here, it’s apple pie, your favorite, for Airi.”
“Apple pie!! Yay!! Mom, prepare some tea!!”
“Yeah, yeah, I got it.”
Handing her the apple pie I bought on the way back to distract her, she immediately perked up and ran off to her mom.
From the back, I could hear my mom’s exasperated voice.
After that, our family enjoyed tea time and exchanged banter.
