The weakest tamer, who was expelled because they could only tame the lowest-ranked trash monsters, awakens the "Breeder" ability. Eventually, they become a hero commanding extraordinary divine beasts and mythical creatures. - Chapter 63
“The Path to C Rank”
**Episode 063: Silver Canyon**
Silver Canyon lies north of the Noir Forest. Flanked by sheer cliffs on both sides, the canyon is traversed by the Glaris River, flowing southeast, seemingly avoiding the forest. Depending on the season, the mountain scenery changes its appearance, revealing different expressions over time. Traces of the ancestors who once walked the path are etched into the cliffsides, leaving behind their footsteps as a testament to their journey.
On the mountain side, rich resources and various monsters inhabit the area. One can easily become entranced by the beautiful scenery and find oneself on the brink of death in an instant.
“This is for today.”
“Yeah.”
Since it’s located north of the Noir Forest, it’s necessary to pass through the forest to reach it. I visit Sasha, as usual, to deliver food and sweets, and we engage in casual conversation.
“So, heading to the northern canyon?”
“Yeah. I think it’s about time.”
“I see. With the protection you have, there shouldn’t be any problems.”
And so, we discuss changing the exploration site. Silver Canyon, accessible only by passing through the Noir Forest, harbors not only C-rank monsters but also B-rank ones in the depths, making it highly dangerous. However, due to this danger, the value of the resources obtained there far exceeds those of the Noir Forest, and the rewards one receives increase accordingly. It’s worth the time and effort to venture there.
“It’s a pity you won’t be able to accompany me on your work.”
“There’s no choice but to accept it.”
“My partner can’t go.”
Who’s the partner? Who?
Sasha often accompanies me into the forest, fighting alongside me and helping me search for items. However, if we go to the canyon, we won’t be able to explore together. I can’t keep working only in the forest, so I have no choice but to ask her to understand.
“Well, if you’re coming with me like this, it’s fine. I’ll escort you to the edge.”
“Thank you as always.”
“Don’t worry about it. Without this, it would take you humans a long time to get here.”
Once we enter the forest, the plants guide me to Sasha’s location, shortening the travel time significantly. It would normally take about four days to get through the forest, but thanks to Sasha, it only takes a few tens of minutes.
“Then until next time.”
“Yeah. Take care.”
I hope I can repay her in some way someday.
We part ways at the northern edge of the forest and leave the ranch with all the members, stepping onto the mountain path. As we gradually gain altitude, the view changes, and we find ourselves looking down on the river.
“It’s understandable why they say you could die while being captivated by the scenery here.”
However, with seven comrades by my side, I won’t be taken by surprise easily.
“They’re here.”
As we’re talking, we sense the approach of monsters from behind.
“Grrrrr.”
It’s a black, four-legged beast—a monster called a Black Panther, resembling an enlarged and ferocious cat. It belongs to the C-rank and uses its agility to maneuver through unstable terrain, attacking its opponents from all angles.
“Grraaah!!”
The Black Panther immediately lunges at us.
However, we’re already accustomed to the movements of C-rank monsters. In fact, sometimes Sasha goes easy on us, and we end up challenging them together, only to be easily defeated. So, it seems rather slow to us now.
“Hah!!”
“Aaargh…”
The Black Panther is defeated in a single blow.
It seems we can handle ourselves fine even here.
As we search for the requested items, we also begin looking for the materials needed for the evolution we originally set out for.
