The Villain's End Is Pregnancy - c107
Ryan saw Hendrick’s face turn so cold for the first time. Even when he was young, he never got angry even though Ryan followed him around persistently.
‘He just used to glance and pass by me like a stone or tree in the garden.’
Rather, Ryan thought that his disinterest might have been the reason he followed him even more. But anyway, Hendrick’s manner of instructing the knights was so frosty that Ryan couldn’t even strike up a conversation asking why he was doing that and just watched his mood.
“Ryan, can you wait here for a moment?”
But when he turned to Ryan and spoke, his voice was so gentle that Ryan’s heart quickly melted.
“Yeah. Come back quickly.”
Hendrick seemed to be trying to move directly in order to catch him before missing him. Ryan easily guessed and let him go. No, he tried to, but the person who should be going out quickly was just staring blankly.
“Why?”
He simply asked because he couldn’t understand the reason, but what came back was a short sigh. When Ryan tilted his head even more incomprehensibly, Hendrick tapped his cheek with his index finger as if he couldn’t stand it anymore.
“At times like this, shouldn’t you say you’re anxious and ask me to stay by your side? Usually?”
He wondered what he was talking about, but it was a ridiculous thing to say.
“What are you saying? Hurry up and go. You’ll miss him at this rate. What if it’s really Count Seiden?”
He pushed away the finger touching his skin and spoke curtly for no reason. Otherwise, he felt like his momentary inclination to the embarrassing words would be revealed.
In fact, when he heard that story earlier, he really pondered whether it was okay to do that.
Not for long, just for 2 seconds.
“Hah… Those people from that family are no help at all. If they caused such an accident, they should be grateful for sparing their lives and lie low, why are they running away?”
Right. Ryan agreed inwardly. Judging from the appearance earlier, it seemed that he had a rough time after coming all the way to the capital. Regardless of how mean he was to Ryan, seeing him being dragged away by obviously low-quality men made Ryan worried and feel sorry for him.
‘I wonder what happened to Liam.’
Thinking about that, he suddenly thought of his old friend who was said to have been exiled abroad. If Count Seiden had separately requested, the trip would have been less difficult, but it didn’t seem like that.
“Okay. I’ll get going then. So don’t worry for nothing. They probably couldn’t have gone far anyway. Maybe Elena has already caught them and is bringing them here.”
When Ryan just stared without saying anything, Hendrick made excuses as if he felt guilty for no reason. Ryan nodded without bothering to correct him.
“Yeah. I’ll wait here quietly, so go and come back. But make sure to check if it’s really him.”
He also needed to find out what purpose he had for secretly coming to the capital instead of staying at home.
“I will.”
Although Hendrick still had a regretful expression, he obediently took his hand off. Then, he finally released a lot of pheromones in the name of stabilizing the mind and body of his omega and child, and left.
Ryan’s body tilted to the side when left alone. In that state, he rested his head on the chair with a thud, and felt the warm energy, familiar body scent, and pheromones.
“Haa…”
A long sigh escapes automatically. Honestly, it would be a lie to say he wasn’t surprised. To think that Count Seiden, who was said to have fled, was in the capital.
‘No matter how I think about it, it seems like he came here holding a grudge about what happened then and wanting revenge, right?’
Ryan vividly remembers the look in his eyes glaring at him at that time. It was terrifying, as if he wouldn’t let it go. It’s impossible not to worry after seeing such a person nearby.
Especially when it starts to be recognized slowly as Hendrick leaves his seat.
“What, it’s like I want him to stay by my side as Hendrick said.”
While pouting his lips to absolutely deny it, he gently stroked his belly. The child seems bolder than him, as there is no particular response felt.
Now it’s swollen enough to know if you pay a little attention.
“Have I been making you too tired these days? I’m sorry. Please bear with it just until tomorrow.”
After that, he would be able to focus a little more on prenatal care.
“Eek!”
Ryan, who became embarrassed thinking about it himself, was writhing while holding his face with both hands. That’s when he felt a commotion outside.
“They’re here!”
He raised his upper body and approached the window on his knees.
“Ah, as expected…”
As expected, the one surrounded by the knights was indeed Count Seiden.
“But look at his state.”
Although he had a slight doubt when he saw him in passing earlier, what kind of thing happened in just two days that his appearance was a mess?
His hair was disheveled, his face was grimy, and his clothes were also dirty as if he had smeared something on them, and there were torn parts.
Moreover, if it wasn’t a mistake, bruises and bloodstains here and there on his face caught the eye.
“Anyone who sees him would have mistaken him for a beggar who got caught.”
Ryan, who didn’t know that Count Seiden had been humiliatingly told such a thing by the large men surrounding him a little while ago, had a similar thought.
“By the way, what’s this? Don’t tell me he’s really drunk?”
Earlier, he was carried by the men like a piece of luggage, and even now, Count Seiden is still being supported by Hendrick’s knights.
Ryan couldn’t understand why he came all the way to the capital and was doing that. As he sighed and tried to go out, his vision was blocked.
“It’s cold, why are you doing that?”
Before even checking who it is, a familiar and kind voice is heard. Soon after, a warm touch caresses his cheek.
It reminds him of the index finger that playfully stroked his cheek just a few minutes ago, making Ryan blink slowly.
“Why is Count Seiden like that?”
Ryan asked while rubbing his cheek against the palm that seemed to soothe his heart. As Hendrick’s body scent and pheromones were subtly transmitted, he felt strangely relaxed and at ease.
“When the thugs acted in an annoying way, I said a few rough words, and he fainted. I was worried that he might die from exposure if we just left him on the street, so I was trying to move him to a safe place.”
So it sounded like there was a fight between Count Seiden and the thugs, and in the process, either a physical fight or a one-sided assault occurred, causing him to faint.
And the thugs probably tried to take the unconscious person somewhere and either harm him or sell him off.
“That’s a relief.”
If Ryan hadn’t discovered him, he might have been dragged somewhere without anyone knowing and faced who knows what.
The touch gently stroking his cheek suddenly stopped. Wondering why, when he looked up, there was Hendrick with a peculiar look in his eyes.
“Why?”
“Were you worried?”
“Huh?”
“Even though he did those things to you. Were you concerned that something bad might have happened to Count Seiden?”
“Well… I mean, yeah.”
No matter what, isn’t he someone we know? So hearing that he was in a rough state made Ryan feel unsettled.
He answered in that sense, but for some reason, Hendrick’s expression became even more complicated than before.
“What, why are you looking at me like that?”
Ryan asked, pursing his lips.
“Ryan.”
“Why?”
What now? Why is he lowering his voice like that to say something? But even that sounds cool, so it seems like a wrong filter has been inserted into Ryan’s ears.
“I’ll take responsibility.”
And what Hendrick said was quite out of the blue.
“What?”
In what context is this being said? As Ryan stared blankly, Hendrick firmly grasped both of Ryan’s hands, left affectionate kisses on the back of his hands and fingertips, and then spoke in an endlessly serious tone.
“Don’t worry about being scammed somewhere or being misunderstood for unintended actions. I’ll take care of everything for you.”
“Huh.”
A dumbfounded sound finally escaped from Ryan’s mouth. Now he understood what Hendrick meant.
In other words, he thinks of Ryan as a pushover, doesn’t he?
“Do you think I’m that dazed and confused?”
Even though he looks like this, Ryan prides himself on being a rather aloof and prickly young master. But doesn’t Hendrick think of him like a child left by the water? Ryan became worried that there might be a serious error in Hendrick’s eyes rather than a problem with his own ears.
“I know you’re not. Still, I know that you’re kind.”
“Oh, stop it, really!”
Kind, he says. Hendrick seems to think it’s a compliment, but Ryan squirmed while shuddering as he heard it.
How could he be so mistaken to say such a thing?
“I just felt bad knowing that someone I know was in a rough state, that’s all!”
“Yeah, I’m sure that’s it.”
He looks completely unconvinced. Rather, his smiling face reflected a generosity that seemed to support whatever Ryan does.
He doesn’t seem to know that it makes Ryan even more dumbfounded. Ryan, who had been staring at Hendrick with his mouth wide open, finally shook his head as if he had lost.
“Okay, do as you wish. You’re so dependable.”
