Chapter 35
“I will now activate the book of Green Leaves,” said Baltazar. At the same time, Avalon emitted a powerful wave and plants came out of the dry land, covering the bare and rocky plains with a thin layer of grass. Reid and the villagers watched and cheered.
“And now, I’ll use the Book of Heaven.” Black rain started to pour from the cloudless sky and gave moisture to the fresh green land.
“Wow,” said Reid, “this is amazing, Baltazar.” This was beyond his imagination.
In the past few days, he had obtained both those new books according to Baltazar’s advice. Agriculture was essential to secure food for the villagers in the long term.
After confessing to Fyne and the others about him being the Dungeon Conqueror, Bazel and he had to part ways. He remembered the conversation he had with the warrior before he left.
“I want to help,” Bazel had said, “but I can’t give you an answer right now. Please give me some time.”
“I understand. Of course.” He had then used the Magic book to bring Bazel back to the battlefield and gave him a metal ball to communicate. “When you’ve come to a conclusion, please contact me with this.” Bazel had nodded before disappearing into thin air. No matter how uncertain Bazel was, Reid was sure he’d help.
“This land’s been underwater for so long and yet plants can still grow,” Reid said to Baltazar, “what’s up with this land?”
“The land of Ordoria is made of a special soil. It doesn’t take any damage from salt, for example.”
“I don’t really get it, but that’s amazing.”
The royal palace on Avalon had been divided into areas that were open for everyone and other reserved for a limited number of people, such as Reid.
In the hall he was in right now, kids were running around. Reid watched them with a smile. “This book that makes rain fall will be a great ally to farm.”
“Yes indeed,” replied Baltazar, “the Ordorian Empire was a prosperous agricultural land. In two or three days, we should be able to plant crops.”
“This will make a lot of food.” Reid was filled with hope.
“Reid,” continued Baltazar, “it seems like a messenger has come from Morgalea.
About twenty people are approaching from the east.”
Baltazar’s words clouded Reid’s expression. He knew they’d come eventually, and he knew he had to be the one to take care of them. He had to prepare.

In Alessandro, the King, the Prime Minister Lois and other ministers were gathered for an imperial meeting.
“What do you mean, Clark?,” asked Lois.
Clark rose his eyebrows. “Did something happen, Lois?”
“Well, I agreed to negotiate with Morgalea, not to invade them. I heard that you took the initiative.”
“No, it’s the result of the negotiations of Sarius. After consulting the Minster of the State, Edmund, I decided that war with Morgalea was inevitable.”
Edmund nodded and Lois felt disgusted. Many ministers were not happy with Lois and how young he was for this job. There were many times when they were at odds with each other.
“I strongly object,” said Lois, firmly.
“Lois, what are you saying?,” asked Clark.
“Morgalea has too many uncertainties, including the Dungeon Conqueror. We can’t take this fight lightly.”
“That is why we need to act now. The Dungeon Conqueror is getting their hands on treasures one after the other, it will get even more dangerous with time.”
“Still, there’s no guarantee we’ll win now.”
“Are you saying we’ll lose?,” said Clark, annoyed.
“No,” replied Lois, “I’m saying that there are uncertainties.” “There’s no such thing as a battlefield without uncertainties, Lois.”
“This needs to stop,” the King intervened. Lois and Clark lowered their heads. “I’ll leave this matter to Clark. Is that ok for you, Lois?”
Lois sighed. “As you wish.”
The King knew there was a gap between the ministers and Lois and decided to act as a buffer.
Lois felt unworthy of making the King worry. Lois had no choice but to obey the Kings’ orders.

Reid went to a workshop on the upper floor of Avalon. Along with Orchid, there were people who were building fishing rods and small boats. He called out to the man who was in charge of heavy lifting. “How’s the work progressing?”
“The food we have now is not enough. I’m thinking about going fishing tomorrow, is that ok?”
“Yes, sure. Thank you, Gustav.”
It was difficult to take care of 150 prisoners, so Reid had released some adventurers and asked them to help with food. The adventurers from Black Sword worked especially well. Even Reid who wasn’t an adventurer had heard of them before.
“Oh, Reid!,” called Karl, “can you send me to the mountains next time?” He was building a trap.
“What’s this?”
“It’s a boar trap. I’m bored with all the fish stuff. Send me to the mountains and I’ll get us some meat!”
Karl is bright and friendly, and makes the people around him feel at ease. Reid smiled before turning to Gustav.
“Gustav,” continued Reid, “a messenger is coming from Morgalea as we speak.” “So they are finally coming, uh.”
As long as the Crowned Prince of Morgalea was here, it was clear that they would come. Reid had decided to gather the village chief and other villagers, as well as Gustav for the meeting.
“You want me to come? You know I’m supposed to be your enemy, right?”
“Even if we’re enemies,” started Karl, “we’re just hired for money. There’s no reason why we should be in conflict with Reid and the people here.”
“Do you have any obligations to your employers?,” asked Reid. “Nope,” said Karl.
Gustav agreed with Karl. Nothing had been written in the job’s description after all. “Because we’re Ordos, they might not listen to us. I’ll need you to intervene.” “Right,” said Gustav, “I’ll try my best.”
Reid left the room to prepare for the meeting.

At the sight of the gate, Demitrius held his breath. He had never seen something so splendid.
He was accompanied by general Orus and a dozen of knights and guards. “To think that such a castle exists… this frighteningly beautiful,” said Orus.
“That’s right,” answered Demitrius, “this must be the long-lost continent of Ordoria and its castle – the land of the people who are said to have unified the world.” He looked up and watched how tall the palace was.
As they approached the gate on horseback, the gate slowly opened and a knight in blue armor and a familiar adventurer were standing behind it.
“Is that… Gustav!,” shouted Demitrius. It had been a long time since he had seen the man, but he never could’ve forgotten his strong physique. “Are you ok!?”
Orus jumped off his horse and rushed to Gustav to hug him. He was happy from the bottom of his heart that his friend was safe. “I was so worried about you!”
“As you can see, I’m doing great,” answered Gustav. He then moved to kneel in front of Demitrius. “It’s been a while, Sir. The owner of this castle has asked me to guide you inside. Please follow me.”
“Sure…”
The meeting between Demitrius and Reid took place at noon in a room used for diplomatic use. It was decorated with high-class furnishing. Reid and his people sat first, followed by Demitrius and Gustav.
Demitrius, who had been led into the room, kept her stern expression. He knew the people in front of him were Ordos.
Demitrius was prepared for tough negotiations.
