The Ultimate Glitch ~One Man Conquers a Dungeon That Humanity Couldn’t Conquer for Hundreds of Years, in Only Two Hours~ - Chapter 15
The Floating Island
Chapter 15
That afternoon, a total of fifteen people were gathered in Lois’ office, including adventurers and the Guild.
“Who was the last person to leave the dungeon?,” Lois asked.
“Uhm, it was me, sir,” replied the man, timidly putting his hand up. They all knew being called by the Chancellor like this wasn’t normal. They were scared they had done something wrong.
“You don’t have to be nervous,” said Lois with a softness that didn’t reach his
eyes. “I just want to ask you about something.” Foress’ throat bobbed at the sight. “While you were still inside the dungeon, did you see anyone else? Adventurer or else?”
The man shook his head. “No, only those present in this room.” “Then, what about outside? Were there tourists around?”
“Outside… Well, actually, I didn’t think it mattered at the time but there was a couple near the entrance of the dungeon. I spotted them when I was packing my stuff to leave. It seemed like they were walking to the edge of the island.”
“To the edge?”
“Yes. They weren’t on the last airship, so I assumed they just stayed on the island for the night…”
“I see.” Lois nodded, his lips curled to the side. “This couple didn’t enter the dungeon, did they?”
“No. No one has been in the dungeon since we left. We didn’t see them when we were inside, either.”
“Is that so…,” he paused to think, “I understand. Thank you for your help.”
Foress got closer to Lois with a frown. “What did you understand? It didn’t seem to be a useful testimony.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Foress.” Lois turned to face him. “It was a really
important testimony. Now I have a rough idea of what happened.” “What? Really?”
“Yes. That couple most likely were the ones who conquered the dungeon.” “But, he said they haven’t entered the dungeon.”
“Yes, I know. They conquered it without entering it.” Foress was confused. “What do you mean?”
“Maybe there’s another way in we don’t know about,” Lois explained.
“But-” he paused. “But I looked through all the reports as you asked and none of them mentioned another entrance!”
“Yes, but they’re wrong.” “But-”
“There might be instructions to follow in order to find that entrance,” cut Lois. He
started to think, rubbing his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. “Call the military and
instruct them to investigate all the dungeons of the Empire… Actually, make them look around them too, about three kilometers around.”
“You want them to find it?” “Not necessarily.”
“What?”
“The Conquerors are most likely foreigners. If that’s the case, we can’t let them find another dungeon’s treasure – it would be another loss for our Empire. If we have soldiers around the dungeons…”
“Then they can’t get inside.”
“Exactly. Tell the military to detain anyone who’s around the dungeons and who seems suspicious to them.”
“Will do, sir!” Foress rushed out of the room, but Lois called him right before the
door.
“Foress, one more thing.” “Yes, sir?”
“Send a message to all the spies we have in other countries.”
“What message, sir?”
“There’s a chance those Conquerors have conquered dungeons in other countries
before coming to ours. If so, our spies should be aware of it.” “Oh, why do you think so?”
“It’s highly unlikely that the first dungeon to ever be captured is the Floating Dungeon,” Lois started. “There are a lot of dungeons that are easier to conquer. The fact they entered this one proves that they were confident in what they were doing.”
“Maybe they tried it first in their own country.”
“Exactly. Please gather information about the foreign dungeons.” “I will, sir!” Foress bowed before finally leaving.
Lois sat on his chair and took a big breath. His thoughts were racing.
The next day, reports came from the spies who infiltrated Alessandro’s neighbor, Morgalea. According to them, there were rumors concerning dungeons being captured as well. Although, nothing had been made official yet. The bounty for the treasures had been increased and two dungeons had been closed.
“This is a first for Morgalea, right?,” asked Foress.
“I need more information on this, but I think it is. I’d say the Conquerors first conquered dungeons in Morgalea, and when they saw the consequences, they decided to try in another country, one that was close to theirs.”
“The Empire Alessandro.”
Lois nodded. They were both looking at the floating castle. “Do you really think they’re inside?,” asked Foress.
“If we think about this logically, then yes, they must be. We should find a way inside… Ah, here it is.”
In the sky, the military’s seven airships were heading toward the castle.
Lois’ idea was that the Conqueror couldn’t move the castle himself. However, the Chancellor didn’t want the Castle to stay there for everyone to see, either.
“Sir Lois, they’re ready,” said Milg Volea, the general of the airship division, who stood beside Lois.
“You can start.”
“Alright, sir, leave it to me.”
Using a magic crystal, another soldier gave a signal to the airships. A hundred soldiers were about to enter the fortress.
