The Ultimate Glitch ~One Man Conquers a Dungeon That Humanity Couldn’t Conquer for Hundreds of Years, in Only Two Hours~ - Chapter 14
The Floating Island
Chapter 14
At the same time, a magic circle appeared on a cliff overlooking the capital of Alessandro. Reid and Orchid stepped out of it. He admired the dazzling castle floating in the sky.
“We were just there yesterday..,” he said.
The day before, Reid had evacuated them using the book. They had been safely home for the night and had decided to check on the island this morning.
“Is this fortress the dungeon’s treasure?,” he asked, “Orchid, have you ever seen something like this?”
“Yes, I have.”
“You have! What is it, exactly? What do you know about this castle?”
“It’s called Avalon. I don’t have more information about it, only that Baltazar controlled it.”
“Baltazar? What is this?”
“I don’t have the authorization to answer your question.”
Reid thought that her answer was suspicious. But he knew that pushing her for more information was useless, so he took out the crimson book. As he had visited Avalon the day before, without knowing it, the book had registered it and he could use it to go back. Reid touched the castle drawn on the map and teleported there. Orchid and he were back in the large room. As they approached the round platform, the light leaking from it became stronger and images started to appear around them. Reid was startled.
The images showed places outside of the castle. He tried to touch the platform but nothing happened.
He wondered if he could make the fortress move. “If I can move it,” he said, “I’d like to go on the sea.” Besides, his treasure was in an enemy country. He needed to move it somewhere else.
However, no matter what he tried, the fortress didn’t budge. Reid gave up and decided to look into other rooms.
There were many of them, some plunged in complete darkness, and others he couldn’t even get access to.
“This is weird,” he said, “say, Orchid, do you have any idea on how we could make
this castle move?”
“I’m sorry, I do not know.”
Reid shrugged. It sure was a great treasure, but it was way too much for him to handle. He decided that Orchid and he should go back home until he found a way to deal with the floating fortress.

Reports about the incident were piled up on Lois’ desk. Most of them were about the inactive dungeon.
“Foress.”
“Yes?!” Lois’ sudden call made Foress’ heart jump in his chest. He knew Lois was anxious about the whole situation so he had been careful not to irritate him all morning while he read the reports in silence.
“It is written that the investigation team reached the lowest level of the dungeon.
I’d like to hear about it from them directly. Please call them right away.” “Yes! Of course.”
A few minutes later, a commander rushed into the room. He had never met the Chancellor before and felt the need to stand oddly straight.
“I’ve just read your report,” Lois said, “and I’d like to hear more about that door you mentioned. It led to a long corridor, right?”
“Yes, sir! There was a passage extending out of the room!” “And it led to a dead-end?”
“Yes! Due to the island collapsing, the passage was blocked.” “There were no other traces? Like footprints?“
“Uhm, no! The walls of the lowest floor were damaged so I couldn’t investigate further.”
Lois hummed. “That’s a shame. Please tell me in which direction the passage was.
It wasn’t written in the report.”
“Oh, its direction…” The commander’s face turned pale as sweat rolled down his forehead. Foress knew Lois was meticulous about the accuracy and the details of his reports.
“It’s really important,” Lois insisted.
“Yes, uhm, well,” mumbled the commander. Lois sighed. “Well, could you please check it?”
“Yes, of course sir!,” replied the commander before rushing out of the room.
“Sir Lois,” said Foress, “if they check it now, you’ll have the report by tomorrow.” “Good. Although, I’m sure the direction is south.”
“Oh? How do you know?”
“Well,” Lois started, “if it led south, it would be where the island split. In other words, it would be a passageway to that floating castle. It seemed obvious but I wanted to confirm it.”
“Oh, you’re right.”
“That castle must be the dungeon’s hidden treasure,” Lois continued, “since it was at the bottom of it. Maybe the person who conquered the dungeon is still inside.”
Foress speechless. No dungeons had been conquered before, so this in itself was already surprising, but for the Conqueror to be still inside…
“If the Conqueror is still inside and now controls the floating castle, then why is it still here? Why won’t they move it?”
“Maybe it’s not a question of why they haven’t, but more of why they can’t.” “Can’t? Do you suggest that maybe they cannot move it?”
“Foress, what if it was you?,” Lois asked. “Do you think you could acquire something so incredible and be able to use it immediately?”
Foress’ cheeks grew hot in shame. “No, of course not.”
“Of course, I do not know exactly why they can’t move it. I’m just guessing. I believe that if I were in their shoes, I’d want to move it if I could.”
Foress was impressed by the Chancellor’s logic. “Foress, please call everyone out of the dungeons.” “Everyone? Both the adventurers and the military?” “Yes. Someone may have seen the Conqueror.”
“I understand. I’m taking care of it.”
After Foress left, Lois slouched onto his chair with a sigh. Although he had learned a lot today, he still felt like it wasn’t enough.
His mind wandered to the mysterious Conqueror. A strong man who has achieved an unprecedented achievement… Anyone from his Empire could be worthy of being the Conqueror.
But again, there was a big chance the Conqueror was a foreigner. Otherwise, why
would he go during the night? They surely wanted to avoid people seeing them.
It was a terrible situation for the Empire, but he could suppress the smile on his face.
“Fascinating. This is truly fascinating.”
