The Ultimate Glitch ~One Man Conquers a Dungeon That Humanity Couldn’t Conquer for Hundreds of Years, in Only Two Hours~ - Chapter 13
The Floating Island
Chapter 13
“The reach of the lowest floor has been confirmed,” said the familiar voice. “The transfer of authority has been approved for Unique number 03, Avalon.”
The door slowly opened on its own with a loud metallic sound, while Reid and Orchid stood before it, frozen.
“Please, enter.” They do as they’re told. They walked down a long and dark corridor with a high ceiling until they arrived in front of another door. Reid wondered if the dungeon’s treasure was behind it. As they entered, they were in a large room empty, save for a round platform in its center. A light was rising from it, up to the ceiling.
“Please state your name.” “Reid Athril.”
“Reid Athril… The registration is complete. The Ordorian Empire’s legacy, Avalon, has been officially transferred. My work here is done. I hope you’ll use the legacy of Ordoria wisely.”
“What?”, Reid gasped. “I haven’t received anything yet!”
The room fell into silence. He looked around, but there was nothing. The only thing he noticed was how the floor was shaking beneath him. The trembling became so violent that Reid couldn’t stand on his feet anymore and fell. Hopefully, before his head could hit the floor, Orchid caught him in her arms.
“Ah, thank you,” he mumbled. Looks like the gender roles have been reversed on that one.
They stayed like this, waiting for the shaking to stop.

That night, something strange was happening in the capital of Alessandro.
A family was having dinner when rocks and dirt fell in their soup. They were startled and looked up to see the Floating Island shaking.
“Hey,” said the mother, “what’s happening up there?”
“I don’t know!,” replied her husband. “It’s the first time I see something like this.” “Mom, I’m scared…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay…”
The citizens of Alessandro started to panic and reports of the unusual situation were immediately brought to the Castle.
“Sir Lois! We have an emergency!,” said Foress, a member of the government, as he rushed into the Chancellor’s office.
“What’s wrong? Please, calm down,” Lois replied, glaring at the man. He had entered without knocking. But his annoyance faded away at his response.
“The floating Island,” the man said, panting, “Obreath, is about to fall!”
Lois frowned. “Really?” He couldn’t believe it. He stood up from his desk and walked to his window to check on Obreath. Unfortunately, it was too dark to see anything. “I cannot see anything.”
“According to the reports, the people living below it saw rocks falling to the ground and the island shaking. They assumed Obreath was about to fall.”
Lois stopped to think for a while, his hand on his chin.
“Collect as many flares as you can.” “Flares?”
“Yes. The military should have a large amount of them. Tell them to gather them immediately.”
“We could use fireworks as well, sir.”
Lois nodded. “That’s a good idea. Please give them to the military.”
Following his instructions, the military gave its soldiers the flares and fireworks, before they rode on their horses to the capital. They installed the fireworks so that when they were all fired, they’d illuminate the island. On the count of ten, they all fired the flares at the same time, launching light into the darkness.
It uncovered a terrifying sight – Obreath had been split in two, with its larger part slowly falling. The other side was also crumbling down.
This sent the city into chaos. People were scared of the debris, and some wondered if this was an attack from an enemy country.
At the Castle, Lois was watching the island on his balcony through a telescope, surrounded by his vassals, while the city was in turmoil.
“What do you think, Sir Lois?”
The Chancellor could now clearly see one part of the island falling. Although, his attention was focused on the one that was still floating. He could see the inside of the
island, where blue and golden metal emerged from the darkness as the fireworks lighted them, before disappearing again.
“Tomorrow,” he started, “when the sun rises, send out search teams to investigate the situation.”
The next day, people were speechless as they saw the floating island.
The sunlight reflected on white walls and white sculptures, offering a beautiful spectacle. No one had ever seen something like this and Lois, who watched it from his window, couldn’t help but admire it.
“A floating fortress,” he whispered.
The castle was made of gold, platinum and a colorful bronze. Lois had never seen such beauty.
Even now, we don’t know how the island floated, he thought, maybe it was because of this castle’s power?
“Sir Lois!”
Foress rushed into his office once again. He wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand before correcting his posture.
“I have a report from a soldier who’s investigating a part of the island that fell. It’s the part where the dungeon is. When he went inside, all the creatures had vanished. It seems like the dungeon has stopped working.”
“Wait…” Lois took a moment to think. He opened his eyes wide. No way, he thought. “Could the dungeon had been conquered?”
