The Ultimate Glitch ~One Man Conquers a Dungeon That Humanity Couldn’t Conquer for Hundreds of Years, in Only Two Hours~ - Chapter 12
The Floating Island
Chapter 12
The floating island was called “Obreath”. It was a place where modern buildings and ancient ruins coexisted. The entire island was green with vegetation, with, hidden, the remains of a white building.
Right after he finished his work for the day, Reid made the book appear. The sun had already begun to set so it was difficult to see how colorful the island was. The green island was now red with the colors of the sunset.
“I should find the dungeon’s entrance before dark,” he said.
Before coming, Reid had studied the map carefully. As usual, the secret entrance should be 5 kilometers around the center of the dungeon. But if this logic were to be applied to the Floating Dungeon, the entrance would be in the air. As he looked through the map, Reid couldn’t find any place where the secret entrance could be. That’s why he decided to take a look himself – although, he had no idea how to proceed this time.
He walked to the edge of the island. He wondered how such a big island could
float.
He carefully took a look below. He could see the Castle of Alessandro, although, it
looked very small and blurry. Reid got chills and walked away from the edge. He was back looking for the hidden entrance.
Behind him, Orchid followed him. She wore a hood over her head.

A party of adventurers had gathered in front of the Floating Dungeon’s entrance.
The Country’s Guild had established a base there, where anyone who entered the dungeon had to report on its status and give them the items they had brought back with them.
One of the adventurers spotted someone walking around the island’s edge. He seemed to be accompanied by a woman. The fact someone would be on a date in such a place irritated him. But still, it looked odd. They were looking around as if they were searching for something.
“Hey,” he said, “look at this.” He pointed at the strange pair. “And? They must be some tourists.”
“Yeah, but the last airship’s leaving in a few minutes. If they don’t board it now, they’ll be stuck on the island for the night.”
“Leave them be. Maybe they want to spend the night here.” “Maybe, but still…”
The man knew something was off, but he thought that it didn’t have anything to do with him and started to pack up his stuff.

“Orchid,” Reid started, “I told you to stay home. Why did you come?” “Because that’s my duty.”
“If something happens I can just teleport with the book, you know? You don’t have to worry.”
“It takes time to activate the book. You could get attacked in the meantime.”
Reid sighed. He had persuaded her not to follow him, but the moment the circle of light had appeared, she had stepped inside and was teleported to the island with him.
Reid decided to just drop it – he was tired of always arguing with Orchid about the same
thing.
After thirty minutes, there was no sign of the hidden entrance. Above him, an airship was flying. He thought that it was probably its last flight of the day.
It’s already late, he thought, I should go home before it’s completely dark. Looking for the entrance at night will be too difficult. Besides, I’d hate to be found by officials who are still on the island.
“There’s nothing more to be done,” he said, “let’s go home.” He hesitated as he saw Orchid’s unreadable face. “By the way, Orchid, would you happen to know about the dungeons’ structures and secret entrances?”
“I do not.”
“Don’t deny it so quickly! But alright, I’ll for it myself.”
Reid looked around him one last time. He could see the edge of the island from where he stood. He joked about the entrance being in the air, but maybe he wasn’t so far off. He squatted down to pick up a few rocks, before walking towards the edge. Maybe there was something beyond that couldn’t be seen? Of course, he wasn’t sure enough to step out of the island. He decided to throw rocks instead.
After he tried a few times, the results were always the same – the rock would fall.
Maybe there wasn’t anything beyond this edge. There were a total of four locations where the entrance could be. He decided to inspect the three others by throwing rocks again.
He watched the rocks as they fell down. He thought it was time to go home. He could investigate further the next day. He threw a rock one last time, and the rock disappeared. He thought it was because it was dark, so he threw one again. Once more, the rock disappeared mid-fall.
Could it be here?, he thought.
He tried again and again, and the result was the same – the rocks would disappear into thin air. There was definitely something there.
Before stepping into the unknown, he prepared the crimson book so he could teleport at any time.
He looked back to Orchid and said, “I’m gonna check something, I’ll be right back.
Please stay here.” He looked down and gulped. Reid closed his eyes and jumped into the invisible place where the rocks had disappeared.
His vision became pitch black and he landed on his butt. He was in a cave similar to the other dungeons’ secret entrances.
“So this one was invisible. Was it some kind of magic?”
Reid stood up carefully, making sure he was fine. As he started walking, he heard a loud noise behind him.
“Orchid? I told you to wait for me!”
“My duty is to protect my Master. I have to accompany you,” she replied. Reid took a big breath before going down the dark cave.
It’s exactly the same, he thought, it looks like a normal cave, but suddenly there are
artificial walls and a light at the end of a long corridor.
They walked for about two hours until they found the door. It was heavy and made out of metal. It seemed closed tight.
