The real young master thought he was hated by everyone - Chapter 112
From a personal emotional standpoint, Li Heng certainly wanted him to stay with him and do everything together.
However, he wasn’t completely love-struck.
Although they hadn’t officially started a family yet, he had already felt a certain awareness of it in his heart.
Work was a part of life, and both he and Xie Duzhi should find a balance within the roles they played.
“Tomorrow?” Xie Duzhi wasn’t sure. In their daily relationship, he often followed Li Heng’s thoughts and opinions.
“Mom’s not home, and older brother is out of town. We could wait until after the New Year, or just go to Sweden and wait for them to come.”
“Mom’s not home?” Li Heng asked curiously.
He knew that Xie Shenzhi, was out of town on a project.
Xie Duzhi nodded. “She’s been having trouble reaching our grandparents, so she’s worried and plans to visit their research team base.”
“Oh,” Li Heng didn’t think much more about it. After all, the New Year was still a month away, and it was normal for Mrs. Xie to be concerned.
After all, the Spring Festival was quite special.
“Will they come back for the New Year?” he asked him.
“Maybe not.”
If the research went well and the experiment was successful, Mrs. Xie might go to the research team’s base in the rainforest to discuss the engagement with them in person.
She had already missed one important family occasion, and couldn’t afford to miss another.
“Got it. If we have a chance during the summer break, we could visit them,” Li Heng said. He felt that the winter break might be a bit tight and changed the subject, “Duzhi, have you noticed something?”
“What?” Xie Duzhi looked at him, seriously thinking about what he might have missed.
“Your annual leave seems a bit too much,” Li Heng said slowly, emphasizing the numbers, “You can’t possibly be on vacation with me until after the New Year, and then go back to work after Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, and even Valentine’s Day, right?”
“…?” Xie Duzhi was taken aback.
As the novelty of the relationship faded, the inevitable period of complacency seemed to have arrived. He had begun paying attention to new and interesting spots in S city, which also helped him maintain some sense of freshness through sensory stimulation.
But he hadn’t expected the period of complacency to come so quickly and suddenly.
The young man unconsciously tightened his grip on the steering wheel, though his expression didn’t change much. “You don’t like it?”
His tone was calm, as if it were just a regular question.
But Li Heng could detect a subtle hint of grievance in his voice.
He stared at his profile—especially his lips—noticed the slight downturn in the corner of his mouth, clearly not happy.
Li Heng had seen him unhappy before.
Before the revision period, on afternoons when he had no classes on Wednesdays, he would sometimes go to his office to study or read. If he was really tired, he’d lie down on the bed in the break room.
One time, when he woke up and went to get some water, he opened the door just a crack and heard Xie Duzhi’s voice from outside, cold and filled with a low pressure that could still be felt even from a distance.
It seemed like someone had made a mistake with the data.
But in front of him, Xie Duzhi would deliberately conceal such displeasure, usually using silence or familiar expressions, so the low pressure wouldn’t be so noticeable.
It always gave him the feeling that Xie Duzhi was “feeling wronged.”
Whenever he thought about this, he couldn’t help but think, Xie Duzhi was so cute.
He forced himself to keep a straight face, suppressing the corners of his mouth that wanted to lift, “No, I really like it.”
“But my winter break is almost forty days long,” he slowly added, “You can’t possibly stay in Europe with me until after the New Year, and only go back to work after the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, and even Valentine’s Day, right?”
Xie Duzhi didn’t answer, just tilted his head slightly, as if pondering the connection between the two and also asking why it wouldn’t be possible.
“The company won’t be any different without me,” Xie Duzhi said matter-of-factly.
“And you just said ‘it won’t be any different,’ right? Well, the same applies to me at school,” Li Heng replied easily.
He had already figured out a solution when he asked Xie Duzhi earlier, and his little plan was ringing in his head, “Duzhi, I’ll go to work with you.”
“We can go travel after you officially start your holiday. Once the Spring Festival is over, I’ll go back to work with you. I won’t take a salary, just remember to get an internship certificate with a specific duration from the administrative assistant.”
This way, they could spend the winter break together without delaying Xie Duzhi’s work, and he could also accumulate the social responsibility credits for the second semester. It was perfect.
“Work would be really boring.”
Having ruled out the possibility of complacency, Xie Duzhi felt reassured.
He didn’t care whether it was work or travel, as long as it was with the person he liked, everything would be meaningful.
However, he felt that compared to staying in an office dealing with reports and checking data, Li Heng would probably enjoy visiting various different places more.
During the summer break, he had taken quite a few photos in Europe and posted several travel blogs on social media.
“Being with you won’t be boring at all,” Li Heng said. “We can have lunch together at noon, get off work together in the evening, and go to nearby malls or grocery stores.”
Only then did he realize that there were people delivering fresh ingredients to their house near Linfeng Bay every day. “Anyway, after work, we can either go out to eat or cook together.”
Xie Duzhi had once made him a late-night snack, but he had never made a meal for him.
This semester, he had saved several delicious-looking recipes online, which he could try during the winter vacation.
Xie Duzhi’s heart skipped a beat, unable to refuse him.
Or rather, he had never planned to refuse him on anything.
