The Man Who Received a Spaceship: It Turned Out to Be a Star!? - chapter 6
Chapter 6: Before Going to See the Gifted Spaceship
For breakfast this morning, I settled for the trendy cereal with milk. The sweetness of various dried fruits was a pleasant touch.
After the meal, I used the card Ein gave me like a smartphone to contact her.
“Ein? It’s Yamada.”
“Good morning. This is Ein.”
“Good morning. About yesterday’s gold, I sold four bars and got a little over 200 million yen, so I’m calling to report that. Also, about the remaining six bars, it feels risky keeping them here, so I’d like you to take them back.”
“Thank you for your efforts. I apologize, but could you prepare 10 million yen in cash for now? We plan to purchase necessary food and supplies for your stay on Agiracana. Once you have the cash ready, please call me again. I’ll come to collect it.
Actually, our security team has been guarding you 24/7 for the past few days. There’s no need to worry about theft or accidents. Even if a large passenger plane were to crash into your apartment building, we could protect your room and you without a scratch.
Also, feel free to use the remaining gold bars as you wish. If you need more, just say the word. We can prepare up to about a ton of gold in less than a day, though we’d have to be selective about where to place it.”
If Ein’s professional security team is watching over me, I suppose theft isn’t a concern, but what about traffic accidents? They can protect me even if a jumbo jet falls on me? I guess they can handle it.
Also, if I kept a ton of gold at home, the floor would definitely give way. A ton would be a hundred 10-kg bars, worth 5 billion yen. Isn’t gold usually measured in grams? This is beyond my comprehension!
“I see. Alright. I’ll go to the bank this morning to prepare the cash, so please come around noon.”
Later, I went to the bank to take care of business, and at noon… At the bank, they persistently asked what I needed the 10 million yen for, so I told them I was buying a foreign car with cash. Apparently, they ask about the purpose to prevent wire transfer scams. I’m not old enough to fall for such tricks easily! Besides, I don’t have any relatives to begin with.
Ten bundles of million-yen notes, each wrapped in paper tape, were further bundled together with more paper tape and placed on the dining table with a thud. The bank’s seal was stamped in the middle of the tape bundling the million-yen stacks.
“Here you are, Ein. This is 10 million yen. I didn’t count the bills, but there should be a thousand of them.”
Ein picked up the bundle of cash with one hand and glanced at it.
“Thank you. I confirm there are exactly one thousand 10,000-yen bills.”
She could tell just by looking. Well, she’s probably far more impressive than a novice superhuman like me.
Ein casually tossed the bundle of cash into her bag and said,
“Then, I’ll see you in six days.”
As she was about to leave, I hurriedly stopped her.
“I almost forgot, here’s the ATM card for the account. The PIN is ****.”
I handed her the card.
“Thank you.”
Ein took the card and put it in her jacket pocket.
“By the way, how many people are on the security team?”
“The security team consists of six members. Another five are conducting information research, mainly in Tokyo.”
“What kind of information research?”
“They’re investigating everything from social infrastructure to individual lifestyles, based on language, history, politics, and ideology. Well then, I’ll be taking my leave.”
Since there’s nothing to prepare for the trip to Agiracana, I have a lot of free time. After hearing about a ton of gold, the six gold bars hidden under my bed seem insignificant now.
I guess I’ll spend the next week watching rented videos and reading books.
Since a large sum of money was deposited into my newly created account, the bank persistently called to promote time deposits and investment trusts, but I declined them all.
