The Man Called Demon Lord in Another World Has Returned! - chapter 7
Chapter 7: Return Home 2
Given that I could use the item box and other magic without issue on Earth, I was confident I could freely travel between here and the other world (Earth).
Indeed, I was able to return to the base without any problems. The mana consumption was negligible. This means I can come and go as I please.
The room I’m in now has a transfer array paired with the small fixed-point transfer array I installed in my room on Earth. This room is underground in the base and is connected to the space-time relative position indicators in the room where I set up the return transfer magic circle to go back to Japan.
A rather large transfer reaction occurred in the base’s underground, so it’s probably causing quite a commotion right now. I didn’t say anything about it, after all.
I immediately teleport to the central command room where everyone should be.
“Hey everyone, sorry to surprise you. I just came back to test things out.”
Everyone seemed to be looking at the perimeter monitoring screens with serious expressions.
“Master!” My deputy Ain points at me with an incredulous look. Don’t point at people, please.
“So the unidentified transfer reaction in the base was indeed you, Master. We’re relieved. We were about to move to Level 1 Base Alert status because we detected a transfer reaction inside the base despite the transfer interference barrier operating normally. You’ve managed to travel back and forth between your world and ours, haven’t you?”
“I didn’t mention it, but once I returned, it became easy to travel back and forth. Well, I just set up paired transfer arrays on both sides.”
“By the way, Ain, everyone looks troubled. Is this because of me? It seems you’re monitoring the outside situation.”
“Six infantry divisions of the Agataria army have broken through the first warning line. They’re expected to make contact with the first defense line in two hours. The invading Agataria forces are currently using wide-area annihilation magic to attack near the first defense line. Our defense units haven’t suffered any casualties. Judging from the scale of the enemy’s magic, it’s believed that one Agataria magic division has been deployed. We’ve currently extracted four companies from the defense units deployed on the first defense line to urgently locate the enemy headquarters. Also, the First Armored Unit is preparing to transfer to the first defense line. We’re not conducting air attacks because the enemy is deployed in forested areas.”
“Why now?”
“It seems they detected the disappearance of your mana signature, Master. Your mana signature can be observed from quite a distance when it’s not concealed.”
“I wasn’t really concealing it much. Can’t be helped. But to take advantage of someone’s absence… This time, we won’t just repel them, we’ll also take punitive action. Send out the bombing squad. The target is the complete destruction of the Agataria capital’s royal castle. Raze it to the ground.”
But these guys, even if I’m not here, they dare attack us? Are they underestimating us? Or are they just stupid?
“Understood.”
“This is Ain from central command. First and Second Air Control Airship Fleets, launch. You are ordered to secure air superiority over the Agataria capital and destroy their defense facilities.
Bombing airships 1 through 4, load armor-piercing bombs. Bombing airships 5 through 8, load incendiary bombs. Launch immediately after loading. The bombing target is the Agataria capital’s royal castle. Bomb in order starting with Bombing Airship 1. Destroy the outer structure and then burn everything to ashes.
Also, civilians claiming to be a hero party are approaching the first defense line separately. What should we do about them?”
“Ah, those guys. Just send out Fua to deal with them casually. Make sure not to injure them. They’re idiots, but they’re still my countrymen. Don’t send out Zwei under any circumstances. Come to think of it, where’s Zwei?”
“Zwei is currently in the Drania region, further north of Agataria.”
“What’s he doing?”
“He said he was on a warrior’s journey.”
“What could Zwei possibly need to train for at this point?”
“Who knows. But whatever it is, Zwei should be fine on his own.
Fua, you’re deploying. There are several civilians claiming to be a hero party at the location I indicated. I believe you heard Master’s instructions, so please deal with them casually.”
“Fua, understood. Deploying now.”
“Fua, take care.
But to gather troops and attack after I’ve been absent for just two or three days? What’s going on?”
“Master. It’s been three months since you returned to your original world. I was going to say that if it’s so easy to travel back and forth, you should have come back sooner, but I guess it can’t be helped. The current date is August 15th, 645 of the Holy Calendar.”
“Looks like time flows quite differently. Well, now that I’ve connected the transfer arrays, the time flow should be the same from now on. Good thing we caught this before it became too troublesome.”
“What will you do now, Master?”
“Let’s see. I’ll watch the battle for a while, then head back to the other side.”
“Understood.”
