The Man Called Demon Lord in Another World Has Returned! - chapter 5
Chapter 5: High School Entrance 2
As the post-entrance ceremony homeroom ended, the teacher left the classroom, and students began to head home at their own pace. It seemed other classes had finished their homerooms as well, as the hallway grew noisier with departing students.
The clock above the blackboard showed it was still only 11 AM. I decided to head home early and make some modifications to my room. It would be troublesome if Midori or someone else barged in while I was busy.
As I stood up to leave the classroom, I noticed two male students with unfriendly looks peering in through the half-open door, seemingly surveying the room. How annoying. I don’t know if they’re looking for someone, but they shouldn’t block the entrance! They’re obstructing traffic. I’ve been running into guys like this a lot lately.
“Hey, could you move aside?” I urged them irritably to clear the way.
“…”
The taller one glared at me but silently stepped aside.
“Thanks,” I said as I passed by them and entered the hallway.
Those guys had some nasty looks about them. While there are occasionally good people with mean looks, they’re extremely rare. Usually, they’re nothing but trouble. I’m aware this is a prejudice, but it’s based on my own experiences, so it’s hard to change. Those two might not be full-fledged delinquents, but they’re probably no good. Though I suppose I’m not one to talk about mean looks.
“Hey! Murata! Let’s go home together!” I heard the two calling out to Murata behind me.
Hm, were they from the same middle school too? I could sense Murata’s reluctance. When I turned to look, I saw Murata being dragged away with the two guys’ arms around his shoulders.
I guess I’ll have to intervene.
“Hey, you two. Murata doesn’t seem to want to go with you.
Murata, you need to clearly say ‘no’ if you don’t want to go.”
Murata remained silent, looking down.
“What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with you!” The shorter of the two glared at me as he spoke.
Ignoring him, I continued, “Murata, I’ll say it again. If you don’t want to go, clearly say ‘no.’ I’ll take care of it.”
Murata still remained silent, looking down.
“Take care of it? What are you going on about? Are you stupid?” The taller one sneered. Let’s call him Mob A. The shorter one can be Mob B.
A crowd started to form around us in the hallway.
“…I don’t want to. I don’t want to! I don’t want to go home with you guys!” Murata finally spoke up.
See? You can say it properly.
“Well said. I’ll handle this.
Let Murata go! In exchange, I’ll let you punch me once. A fist is fine. I won’t report it to the school, and if the school says anything, I’ll deny being hit.”
“Really?” “If you let us hit you twice, once each, then it’s a deal.”
“Alright, one hit each is fine. I’ll even let you hit me twice each if you want.”
I took off my glasses and thrust my face forward, making it easy for them to punch.
Mob A from the right, Mob B from the left. Their punches were quite forceful. These guys were experienced. Seems they were proper delinquents after all.
“Kyaa!” A shrill scream came from a female student in the crowd.
Crack! Crunch!
There was a sound that shouldn’t have been heard, and both of their fists shattered. White bones protruded from the backs of their hands. Congratulations on your compound fractures.
My face, of course, was unharmed. There’s no way I’d take damage from attacks by these mobs.
Both of them, upon seeing the white bones protruding from their shattered fists, fainted and started foaming at the mouth. The surrounding crowd was visibly shocked.
“Kyaa!” Another shrill scream echoed from a female student in the crowd. Not that it matters, but she has quite a loud voice.
…
After a while, the two were placed on stretchers by the paramedics who had arrived and were taken away in an ambulance.
Murata and I were then escorted to the staff room.
…
The drawn-out sound of the ambulance siren could be heard in the distance.
“…Kiritani-kun, I understand the situation. We’ve also heard from the students who witnessed it. This was probably an unfortunate accident. However, Kiritani-kun, regardless of how confident you are in the hardness of your face, please never do something so reckless again. I’m going to explain this to the principal now. You two may go home now.”
“I’m sorry for causing trouble,” I said, bowing slightly to Ms. Yamada as Murata and I left the staff room.
“Haah…” I heard a sigh from behind us. Thank you for your hard work, teacher. They say sighing lets happiness escape, you know.
“Kiritani-kun. Thank you so much for helping me today. I’ve been bullied by those guys since my second year of middle school. Everyone, including my classmates, homeroom teacher, and even the principal, turned a blind eye to it. I studied hard thinking I could get away from them if I got into a good high school, and I managed to enroll here. I can’t understand how those guys, who were at the bottom of the class, passed the entrance exam for this school.”
“Murata, I went to Namioka Middle School too, so we’re comrades. Don’t worry about it. I don’t think they’ll bully you anymore, but if anything happens, come tell me.”
I sound like some kind of boss, but I guess it’s fine.
Since Murata and I were heading in the same direction, we walked together to my nearest station and parted ways there.
According to Murata, Mob A’s grandfather runs a large hospital, and his father is a prefectural assembly member. They’re local dignitaries, as they say.
Mob B isn’t quite as well-off as A, but he’s still pretty wealthy. I had thought that generally, the wealthier people are, the more they focus on their children’s education, but it seems that’s not the case around here.
Murata worriedly said that we might face some retaliation since their sons got seriously injured, even if it was their own fault. If there’s any retaliation, it would probably be directed at me, so it’s not a problem at all.
