The Man Called Demon Lord in Another World Has Returned! - chapter 19
Chapter 19: Land Shark 2
Well, they probably didn’t know they were trying to evict my relatives, so I’ll just tell them to back off.
“Morimoto Industries, Morimoto Industries…”
No phone number showing up. I searched on my smartphone but couldn’t find their number.
I’m getting hungry, but should I go to Morimoto Industries one more time?
I teleported to the entrance of Morimoto Industries in stealth mode. After confirming no one was around, I deactivated it.
By stealth mode, I don’t actually become invisible. I’m just using perception interference and invisibility magic. Invisibility alone makes you appear as a moving black shadow, which is quite eerie during the day. So, I use perception interference to prevent attention from being drawn to that black shadow.
“Excuse me!”
I called out loudly at the entrance, requesting to be announced.
A thug quickly came out and guided me to the fourth floor. The fourth-floor window had been repaired. As expected of a construction company.
Today, the old man was alone. My guide was waiting in the next room.
“Mr. President, no need to be so on guard. You know about the high-rise apartment being built in Namioka Town? There’s a house next to that site, and it’s my uncle’s house. You get it now, right? You’re an adult. I won’t do anything this time since you probably didn’t know, but let me advise you: it’s better not to do anything flashy in my hometown. You never know where the landmines are, like this time.”
“What? That house… Come to think of it, was the name ‘Kiritani’? This is bad. Very bad.”
“I understand. We’ll back off. I’ll contact Kanemura Construction and tell them not to touch that land either.”
“Well, that’s that. I’m counting on you, Mr. President.”
As the old man reached for the phone, I decided to do some business.
“By the way, Mr. President, can you take a look at this small bottle?”
I took out a Heal Potion (Weak) from my item box. It’s a glass potion containing a faintly green liquid.
I always take items out via my jacket pocket first. It would look like magic if I pulled them out of thin air.
“What’s this?”
“This is called a Heal Potion. It can instantly heal fractures if you drink it or sprinkle it on. Your company probably has a lot of injuries due to the nature of your work, right?”
Seeing the old man’s dubious face, I decided to demonstrate.
“Watch closely.”
Saying that, I took out a dagger knife emitting a black aura from my item box and stabbed my left hand. The old man’s eyes widened, but he didn’t comment on the illegal weapon.
As expected of Stinger, the obsidian dagger knife with the ability to ignore physical defense and penetrate targets. It stabbed into my body, which normally would break the blade instead. When I pulled out Stinger, dark red blood slowly oozed out. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s a bit gory.
I removed the bottle cap with my mouth and sprinkled about a quarter of the potion on the wound. The potion mixed with the blood, and the wound glowed faintly for an instant.
I spat out the cap and lightly shook my left hand, wiping off the blood and potion.
The wound had closed cleanly as if nothing had happened.
The old man’s mouth hung open at the sight.
“There’s a bit left, why don’t you try drinking it, Mr. President? It’s quite tasty. I’ll give it to you as an apology for the glass injury.”
The old man nervously took the potion bottle and drank the remaining potion in one go, then peeled off the band-aid on his hand. Smooth, unscarred skin had regenerated there.
“See? It healed instantly. Want to buy some, Mr. President? I’ll sell them for just 10,000 yen each now.
Oh right! I have this too!”
As if suddenly remembering, I took out a Heal Potion (Medium) from my item box.
“This is a slightly more premium medicine than the previous one. It can even restore lost body parts. Especially good for missing pinky fingers, don’t you think? Losing a pinky is an occupational hazard in your industry, right? I’ll sell these for 100,000 yen each. Want to buy some? I can sell any number right now.”
“Alright! I only have 500,000 yen on hand, so I’ll buy four of the premium ones and ten of the other kind.”
The old man unlocked a drawer in his side desk, took out a bag of cash, and handed it to me.
He still had hidden money, huh?
I knew the amount instantly through appraisal when it was handed to me, but I counted it one by one in front of him as a formality.
“One, two, three… 100,000. One, two, three… 200,000… Exactly 500,000 yen. Thank you for your business. This is a trial price, Mr. President. Next time, I’ll sell at the regular price.”
“Regular price?”
“500,000 for the premium one, 100,000 for the cheaper one.”
“That’s quite a markup.”
“Considering the effect, it’s reasonable, don’t you think?”
“Well, I suppose so.”
I put the cash into my item box via my pocket and placed four Heal Potions (Medium) and ten (Weak) on the desk.
Perhaps because the demonstration was shocking, the old man didn’t seem to wonder how much a high school student could fit in his pockets.
“For fresh wounds, sprinkle the cheaper one bit by bit while observing. If the wound is too deep, it’s better to drink it. For old wounds, drinking a whole bottle should do the trick. If you lost a pinky long ago, drink a whole premium one. If the pinky was just cut off, align the cut and sprinkle the cheaper one – it’ll stick cleanly even if slightly misaligned.
One more thing: if you drink the premium one whole, tattoos will probably disappear. Those who don’t want to lose their tattoos shouldn’t drink it. Tattoos are a kind of status symbol and business tool in your industry, right?”
After explaining the usage and dosage to the old man, I left the building. I passed several people on my way out, but everyone pressed themselves against the wall to let me through. Seems they’re well-trained. Though that dump truck driver earlier didn’t know me. Maybe he was a dispatch worker?
Oh well. I made some extra income today too.
“…Mr. Kageyama, that’s why we can’t do anything about that land.”
“Mr. Morimoto, we’ve already finished the design including that land. We’ve secured materials too. We need that land. Do you have any idea how much we’ll lose if we can’t get it?”
“No matter what you say, that’s a dangerous property. It’s too risky. Life comes first, you know. I’m sorry, but we’re withdrawing from this case.”
“I understand. We’ll handle this matter separately. Mr. Morimoto, you’re overly afraid of this high school student named Kiritani, but there are far scarier things in this world. Well then.”
The old man’s being threatened. I don’t know what Kanemura Construction means by “handle separately,” but I’m looking forward to it.
When I got home and researched land sharking, I found that in the past, they did pretty brutal things like ramming dump trucks into their targets. Nowadays, there aren’t such outrageous operators anymore, apparently.
I wonder if Uncle properly reported this to the police?
Morimoto Industries seems to understand when you talk to them, and they’re good customers now.
