The 'Item Box' That Only I Can Use Is Bugged - Chapter 0: Prologue
What comes to mind when people hear about the so-called reincarnation perks?
Of course, if someone says reincarnation is just a fantasy, that would be the end of the discussion. But hasn’t everyone daydreamed about it at least once?
What kind of perks would you want if you were reincarnated into another world?
Would you wish for the power of a hero from a story? Or the dark powers that a dark hero possesses? Maybe you’d want a unique magic or skill that only you can wield. Perhaps you’d desire an unimaginable fortune, or to be reborn as an incredibly handsome or beautiful person.
The wishes are as varied as the people making them.
However, there are many different scenarios for reincarnation.
For instance, you might think you’ve died and then find yourself as a baby in another world, or you could be reincarnated as a character from a game you used to play.
Sometimes, in those same game worlds, you, who reincarnated as an otome galgame villainess, would suddenly regain your memories of your past life during your childhood.
The possibilities are endless.
But most of these scenarios seem to occur in fantasy worlds.
The protagonist usually gains some sort of cheat-like abilities. It’s natural for them to possess appropriate power; otherwise, the story wouldn’t work.
Who would want to watch a story about a perfectly ordinary life where nothing ever happens?
I’ve rambled on, but what I’m trying to say is that if you’re going to be reincarnated, it would be ideal to have some kind of appealing ability that would allow you to fully enjoy your next life.
It would be even better if it were in a fantasy world like those in games, with magic and skills to admire.
However, it’s a well-known fact that such things can’t happen in reality… or so it should have been.
(…To think I’d actually experience it.)
When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the body of a six-year-old, standing in what seemed to be a child’s room.
I looked around. The room was small, but spacious enough for a young child.
However, several things caught my attention.
An electric light, a product of modern civilization, was installed on the ceiling.
The bookshelf was filled with picture books written in familiar kanji characters.
Additionally, there was an air conditioner in the corner of the room, and on the wall beneath it was a calendar.
The dates on it were unmistakably in the Gregorian calendar format.
“…Wait, is this modern Japan?”
It seemed that I had been reincarnated not into a fantasy world, but back into Japan, just like in my previous life.
