She hurried her steps, careful not to make any noise, she opened the terrace door and the cold night air enveloped her body.
From the adjacent terrace, she heard the familiar whisper of someone.
“Sis!”
“Mariel!”
Asella’s eyes filled with joy. Mariel, who smiled back at her, flicked her finger and suddenly disappeared without a trace.
“Mariel?”
“I’m here.”
As only Mariel’s voice could be heard from the same direction as before, Asella became astonished, her eyes widening like a startled rabbit.
“What happened?”
“I used an invisibility spell, but…”
With another flick of her finger, Mariel suddenly leaped into Asella’s embrace.
“When our bodies touch like this, I can be seen.”
“How amazing.”
Mariel chuckled and tightly held Asella’s hand. Then, she led her to the edge of the terrace railing. After estimating the landing spot and casting protective spells around them, Mariel looked back at Asella.
“Now we’ll descend.”
A warm glow of magic seemed to envelop their bodies, and in an instant, they landed on the ground. Mariel lightly brushed off the dust from her clothes and stood upright.
“Sis, let’s go… Oop!”
Asella spotted something and hurriedly covered Mariel’s and her mouths. Knights responsible for the castle’s security were patrolling nearby.
“They can’t see us.”
She reminded herself that their bodies had turned transparent due to magic. Yet, her heart remained tense despite that. The sound of her heart pounding felt as if it could be heard by the guards as if it would burst out of her chest.
“There doesn’t seem to be any problem.”
“Of course not. Do you think Her Highness would be taking a stroll in the middle of the night?”
“She must be asleep by now.”
The low voices of the soldiers exchanging words gradually approached and then receded into the distance. Asella waited until they were entirely out of sight before tightly holding Mariel’s hand and moving forward briskly.
Fortunately, they didn’t encounter anyone else after that.
After a short while, two figures stood in front of the castle wall and looked at each other.
“We can’t teleport, but…”
Magical energy formed above Mariel’s palm and enveloped both of them again. The child looked up at Asella and asked.
“Are you ready?”
Asella nodded, and Mariel flicked her finger. The two of them floated into the air.

The atmosphere of the Grand Duchy, that enveloped in the light of dawn, was eerily subdued, and it wasn’t surprising in the slightest, as the mind of its owner, Calix, was in a complete state of distraught.
“So…”
He was furious. He had never been this angry before.
“You have an idea?”
Calix asked, his eyes glowing crimson, and a shiver ran down Ryzen’s spine.
The same was true for the two men hanging from the chains connected to the ceiling. The two men, one who was once considered the successors of the Chartus Marquisate and the father of this alleged successor.
