“I will make sure that you can leave this place no matter what happens.”
Asella said firmly. Mariel, who had been quietly observing her, asked.
“Sister, do you want to leave here?”
It was a direct question, and Asella immediately nodded her head.
“Yes. I want to leave.”
Physically, she was comfortable and cozy; this was true. But mentally, her uneasy heart was no different from when she was at the Chartus mansion. Just like back then, there was no one she could trust. Every direction felt like a prison guarded by the eyes and ears of Calix Benvito.
If that were the only problem, she could somehow endure and live. But…
“This place is too dangerous.”
Their lives, Asella’s and Mariel’s, depended on his whim. She could vividly see a future where they would be pitifully disposed of when his whims were over after being dragged around like dogs on a leash according to his wishes.
“We will leave as soon as you finish your awakening. I have made preparations. Let’s leave the Empire and settle in a safe place.”
Asella recalled the geography and escape route of the grand duchy that she had memorized in advance, as well as the jewels and gold coins she had prepared.
“Shall we leave today then?”
As Mariel asked an unexpected question, Asella widened her eyes.
“I was going to tell you anyway.”
Mariel snapped her fingers. Then, the latch on the terrace that separated them from the rest of the world came undone, and the door opened smoothly. Surprised, Asella covered her mouth with one hand. It was Mariel’s unique ability.
“I just started experiencing this ability this morning. I have yet to fully awaken, so there are limits to the types of magic I can use and the amount of magical power I have. I get tired quickly when I use it…”
As Mariel’s words trailed off, she smiled mischievously, squinting one eye.
“Still, it’ll be pretty useful to get us out of here, right?”

Asella, who was lying in bed, opened her eyes at the appointed time. It was deep in the middle of the night when everyone else should have been asleep.
‘I have to hurry.’
She hadn’t been fully prepared, as the schedule had taken longer than expected, but she had no choice. The clock was ticking, and her family had been destroyed.
Silently, she got up and headed to the dressing room. She changed into comfortable clothes, tied her long hair up tightly, and didn’t forget to wear a wide-brimmed hat to cover her face and hair.
Finally, she walked to the vanity drawer and took out a pendant, hanging it around her neck. Then, she securely placed a pouch containing jewels and gold coins in her pocket.
‘Mariel must be waiting.’
She hurried her steps, careful not to make any noise, she opened the terrace door and the cold night air enveloped her body.
