A while later, the sleeping herbs placed by Asella’s bedside emitted a colorless vapor. Its distinct, refreshing, and cool fragrance subtly filled the room. Margo, who adjusted the height of Asella’s pillow as she lay in bed, spoke gently.
“It’s a good quality sleeping herb. You’ll soon feel sleepy.”
“Thank you.”
With each breath she took, the scent reached deep into her lungs. As she breathed it in, her mind naturally calmed down and became serene. Asella, now more relaxed than before, looked at Margo, who was straightening her quilt, with a more comfortable expression and asked:
“Madam Romaine.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“By any chance, is His Grace going to the capital?”
Margo hesitated for a moment but quickly concealed her expression.
“Yes. I heard he was summoned by His Majesty.”
“Do you know the reason?”
“I don’t know for certain.”
Margo added as she shook her head.
“It could be related to the suppression of demons, or it could be something related to the Imperial Family’s affairs involving the Grand Duke. Besides, there are many matters in which His Majesty is closely working with the Grand Duke, so I cannot pinpoint a specific one.”
“…I see.”
It was a flawless answer, but Asella couldn’t shake the feeling that Margo hadn’t told her everything, just like when she explained the abnormal behavior and attacks of the demons before.
“Sweet dreams.”
As Margo finished speaking, a strange drowsiness overcame Asella’s body. The blinking of her eyelids gradually slowed, and her once wide-awake eyes slowly closed. The sleep induced by the sleeping herbs swiftly pulled her into the depths of unconsciousness.
In just a few minutes, Asella fell into a deep slumber.
Then, Margo glanced at a young maid who stood beside her. She lowered her voice and gave her instructions.
“Tell everyone to be extremely cautious with their words.”
“Yes, Countess.”
After Margo finished tidying up Asella’s bedding, she stood up from her seat to leave the room.

“Haah… Haah…!”
Asella woke up, her body covered in sweat. Judging by the darkness around her, it was still deep in the night.
“Haah…”
The sensation of the soft bed felt strangely unfamiliar. Even though her body was still on the bed, it still felt like she could see the burning Chartus mansion right in front of her eyes. Her heart pounded, and it felt like she was having a seizure.
Her throat was dry. Asella dragged her slumped body, trying to reach out and grab the water cup on the side table, struggling to lift it. However, her hand didn’t have enough strength, and she ended up dropping the cup.
With a sharp sound of shattering glass, the cup broke into pieces. Asella pressed her hand against her mouth to stifle the scream that was about to burst out.
‘I had another nightmare.’
