‘We’re in trouble.’
That was the thought that crossed Ryzen’s mind as soon as he saw the man in the magic projector.
The young man was undoubtedly handsome to anyone’s eyes. His kind smile and the way he spoke, along with how attractive he was, could melt the hearts of many women in an instant with his charm.
It was fortunate that the brief conversation ended, or so Ryzen thought. But later on, they ended up sitting face-to-face, engaged in a lengthy and intimate conversation.
As the image continued, the temperature in the room seemed to drop abruptly. The tense air was as sharp as a blade, making even the composed Ryzen struggle to breathe.
And then, when she finally smiled at the man.
‘I thought I was going to die.’
A chilling smile graced Calix’s lips. His gleaming crimson eyes turned sinister as if he could devour the man in the image in an instant. If he had been present, the man’s limbs would have been torn apart without delay. Ryzen himself could have been at risk of losing his life.
‘Shall I go escort Her Highness back?’
Ryzen mustered up the courage to ask, piercing through the tense atmosphere. However, there was no response from his master. Even though it wouldn’t be strange to order him to bring her immediately.
After a terrifying silence, the graceful lips of his master parted.
‘Leave her.’
And for the past few hours, the Grand Duke remained in this state.
Outwardly, there was little difference from his usual appearance. His work went smoothly, his instructions were concise and clear, and even his handwriting and signature were flawless.
However, the reality was that something frightfully raw and sinister was raging deep within his master’s innermost being. It was the wild and untamed blood that coursed through the veins of the Benvito lineage, boiling with an intense and unsettling energy.
‘I hope nothing out of the ordinary happens.’
Traces of existence akin to an uncontrollable urge of primal desires. This blood constantly sought to assert its presence in those of the lineage who wielded its power.
If Ryzen’s speculation was correct, the current desire that was stirring within his master was most likely…
‘…Possessiveness.’
Every Grand Duke in history had been faithful to their desires. There was no reason not to be, and they could afford to be so. They tenaciously and greedily seized whatever they wanted, even if they later discarded it. It didn’t matter what the object of desire was.
And his lord was someone born with the power of their bloodline flowing through them stronger than anyone else.
Ryzen’s tense anticipation and heightened senses were a result of this. Although it was difficult to say that Her Highness had acted out of line, she was at least reckless. Even if she didn’t know her husband that well, it is not that she didn’t know him too little either.
It was when Ryzen let out a silent sigh.
“Your Grace, a messenger has arrived, saying that the Grand Duchess passed through the castle gates a while ago.”
Finally, a chamberlain announced the Grand Duchess’s return.
