The pastel-toned interior evoked a magical atmosphere as if they had stepped into a fairy tale. Mariel couldn’t help but admire the beauty of the place.
“Your Highness, this way, please.”
The waiter led them to the third floor with a formal demeanor. There was a separate entrance and staircase, so they didn’t need to pass through the bustling first-floor lobby and reception desk.
There was no one on the third floor.
“Look, sis! It’s a cloud-shaped cushion!”
Mariel exclaimed as she leaped onto the mint-colored sofa, embracing the cushion in her arms.
It was a nice seat with a lovely view. Sunlight poured through the large windows on two walls around the corner. The canopy hanging over the windows filtered the sunlight, preventing it from being too intense while allowing the scenery outside to peek through.
The mint-colored sofa placed between the tables could easily accommodate six people. Asella easily guessed that it was probably the best spot in the store, and, no surprise there, it was related to her current name.
‘Benvito.’
In exchange for taking away the glorious name of Chartus that her mother had passed down, she was given this name.
‘It will be the name I carry for the rest of my life.’
No, it wasn’t a name she would carry for the rest of her life by her choice. It was merely a mark that she was the possession of Calix Benvito. If he wanted to take that name away from her, he could do so immediately.
“May I take your order?”
While lost in complex thoughts, the menu was placed before them. Without hesitation, Mariel exclaimed,
“Strawberry mille-feuille and strawberry latte!”
Asella smiled at the child’s innocent expression, and her eyes narrowed.
“For dessert, let’s have the same thing. As for the drink, something warm like tea would be nice.”
“Yes, please wait a moment.”
However, when the waiter returned a short while later, their faces had turned pale.
“Well, um… We ran out of strawberry mille-feuille just a while ago, so even if we start making it right away, it will take some time…”
The waiter swallowed their hesitant words.
“How long will it take?”
“The thing is… we don’t have any more dough left, so it will probably take at least an hour.”
“No wayyy…” Disappointment flashed across Mariel’s face.
‘If I had known, I would have ordered ahead of time.’
Asella comforted the teary-eyed Mariel. She was visibly upset, with tears even forming under her eyes.
“The time will pass quickly as we chat. Let’s wait a bit, okay?”
It was at that moment that she tried to soothe her younger sister.
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I happened to overhear.”
“Mr. Roshan?”
Asella’s eyes widened. Roshan was standing next to their table. Meanwhile, Mariel, who had been sulking in her sister’s embrace, slowly lifted her face and fluttered her eyelashes.
“Is this what you’re looking for, by any chance?”
Roshan held a box filled with strawberry mille-feuille in both hands.
