Despite being embarrassed by her younger sister’s urgency, Asella didn’t forget to gesture to the coachman.
However, Mariel couldn’t even wait for that. She let go of Asella’s hand and started running faster.
“Wait, Mariel, be careful!”
“Eek!”
“Oh dear. The little lady is quite reckless.”
Someone caught Mariel as she tripped over a stone sticking out of the road. Asella quickly rushed over, forgetting about her dignity, and crouched to Mariel’s level, gently turning her around while checking if she was hurt.
“Are you okay? Are you injured? Is there anywhere that hurts?”
“I’m fine, but…”
Mariel extended her finger and pointed at someone. Finally, Asella lifted her head and saw a man she had never seen before.
Asella rose to her feet and bowed.
“Thank you for helping, sir. Thanks to you, my sister didn’t get hurt.”
“No, anyone would have helped in that situation.”
The man gave a calm reply and softened his gaze. Unconsciously, Asella smiled back at his genuine smile.
“Your Highness!”
The coachman, who had just finished his task, rushed over and bowed before Asella.
“I apologize for keeping you waiting. A seat has been reserved in the VIP section on the third floor. You can follow the staff for guidance.”
“Thank you for your hard work.”
Asella nodded at the coachman and then turned her gaze towards the man. He should have been surprised, but his expression was nonchalant as if he had known her true identity from the beginning. He gracefully greeted her with perfect noble etiquette.
“I see Your Highness, the Grand Duchess. Here, I’m Roshan.”
“…Roshan?”
Asella paused at the familiar name. She looked at the man, but he only responded with a vague smile. Meanwhile, Mariel was asking the waiter who was there to guide them about the menu in a loud voice.
“What’s the most delicious thing here?”
“The strawberry mille-feuille is the most famous. It’s our signature dish.”
Leaving Mariel, who was following the waiter, behind, Asella exchanged a brief greeting with Roshan.
“Thank you for your help, Mr. Roshan. I’ll leave first.”
“See you later.”
“Sister! Let’s go quickly!”
Roshan’s response was somewhat strange. However, due to Mariel’s urging, Asella didn’t have time to ponder it. It was only later, after a while, that Asella understood Roshan’s greeting and its significance.
