While they verbally tortured Asella like a piece of meat on a chopping board, Mariel clenched her jaw, biting down on the flesh inside her mouth, barely managing to endure.
The time, which felt like an eternity, passed.
After everyone left and the night finally quieted down, Mariel stared blankly at the ceiling for a while. Then, she burst into tears.
“I won’t let things go the way you all want. I will definitely protect my sister. I will make her the happiest person in the world.”
She engraved and re-engraved the firm determination in her heart.
“Mariel, is something wrong?”
“Huh?”
Mariel snapped out of her reverie at the gentle voice. Asella was looking at her with a worried expression.
Mariel quickly brightened her complexion and replied in the most cheerful voice possible.
“I was just thinking about where to go and what to do with you, sister!”
Finally relieved, Asella’s expression softened.
“We can do whatever you want.”
“Really? I can?”
“Of course.”
Mariel smiled inwardly with a sense of relief. She smiled at Asella and winked one eye.
“I’m going to hold you to that promise!”

The duchy was bustling with people every time it welcomed the arrival of spring. A carriage stopped on one side of an upper-class street lined with high-end shops. The coachman opened the door and politely asked the lady’s wishes.
“Your Highness, where shall we take you?”
“To a dessert shop!”
Mariel, who intercepted the conversation, stood up and positioned herself in front of the coachman.
“Take us to the most famous and delicious dessert shop around here!”
The coachman discreetly glanced at Asella, assessing her reaction. He had heard about the Young Lady who couldn’t resist the cookies and the struggles of the Grand Duchess who was caring for her younger sister.
“Sister, you will listen to me, won’t you? You said you would let me do whatever I want today!”
Mariel cupped her face while blinking her eyes incessantly. Asella smiled at her sister’s childishness and nodded at the coachman.
“Let’s do that.”
After a while, the carriage stopped across from a three-story building with a unique design. People were waiting even outside the shop.
Asella, with a surprised expression on her face, opened her eyes wide, but at Mariel’s urging, she stepped out of the carriage.
“This place is so beautiful! The shop looks like a big pink velvet cake!”
The exterior, painted in white and pink, was striking. Transparent curtains hung on the clear windows between the columns.
“If you could wait just a moment, I’ll have them prepare a table for you…”
“Sister, let’s go quickly!”
Before the coachman could say another word, Mariel grabbed Asella’s hand and tugged her.
