The Genius Physician Princess - Chapter 20
Kite brought Liriana as a witness.
Liriana smiled shyly as she greeted Yeo-ul again.
“Yeo-ul. It’s nice to see you again.”
“Oh, yes. It’s nice to see you too, Liriana. Have you been well?”
“Of course. But Yeo-ul, um….”
Liriana trailed off.
Yeo-ul tilted her head in confusion, and Liriana, blushing, asked,
“Can I hug you just once?”
“Huh?”
“You’re so, so cute. I’ve wanted to hug you for a while now….”
“Oh.”
Surprised, Yeo-ul looked at Kite, who chuckled knowingly.
“Liriana loves cute things. She has about two thousand teddy bears at home.”
“N-Not two thousand, more like five hundred….”
Yeo-ul burst into a clear laugh.
“Sure! I’d like to hug you too, Liriana!”
“Thank you, Yeo-ul!”
As Yeo-ul hugged Liriana first, Liriana blushed but gently hugged her back.
“You’re so cute, Yeo-ul….”
“Hehe. You’re cute too, Liriana!”
Yeo-ul, smiling, buried her face in Liriana’s embrace and took a deep breath.
‘Stay calm, Song Yeo-ul. Don’t worry about the distant future. Focus on what you can do now.’
The warmth and comfort of Liriana’s hug made her anxious heart calm down.
‘I’ll think more about Michael later. There’s still time, and I can find a safe solution for everyone.’
Seeing that Yeo-ul had visibly calmed down, Kite grinned.
“Nothing soothes like a hug. When Brother returns, I’ll ask him for a hug too.”
Joking, Kite explained the situation to Liriana, who immediately agreed.
“Kite is right. We’re all ready to do anything for Yeo-ul.”
“Because I’m Lantus’s wanderer?”
“Not just because you’re a wanderer.”
Liriana shook her head and looked at Yeo-ul. Her deep brown eyes were calm and steady.
“It’s because you’re Lantus’s second wanderer.”
Liriana looked at Kite, signaling that it was his place to explain.
Kite smiled wryly.
“You might have guessed, but the first wanderer Brother met left this world shortly after arriving.”
Yeo-ul’s eyes widened slightly. She immediately understood the meaning of “left.”
“We don’t know the details. Brother never explained it properly. We just guess that losing the first wanderer was a great wound for him.”
As soon as he said that, Yeo-ul recalled several scenes.
When Lantus learned she was a wanderer, he had looked so scared.
His desperate promise to protect her, almost to an incomprehensible extent, made more sense now.
Her heart ached.
“You’re the second wanderer to find Brother, and the first one he saved.”
“…….”
“So it’s natural for us to want to help you be happy. Your happiness means Brother can overcome his past wounds.”
“…I see.”
Yeo-ul bit her lip, her nose tingling. She didn’t know how to repay the great kindness she had received.
But one thing was clear.
To repay their kindness, she had to be happy.
Yeo-ul clenched her small fists and said determinedly,
“I’ll live well. As the second wanderer, I’ll live twice as healthy, joyful, and happy.”
“That’s the spirit.”
Kite smiled proudly, and Yeo-ul added,
“And I’d like to visit a hospital.”
“A hospital?”
“Yes. I want to meet the doctors here.”
Simply being happy herself wasn’t enough. She needed to help Wizardian too. She had some medical knowledge that could be useful.
“I know some medical knowledge. It’s not very advanced, but it led to a medical revolution in my world. It could be helpful here.”
“That’s a good idea. I’ll arrange a meeting with Doctor Reuben right away.”
“Doctor… Reuben?”
“He’s the head of the doctors in Wizardian. He’s very interested in medical advancements, so he’ll be glad to hear what you know.”
Kite explained about Reuben and added,
“Of course, you can’t reveal you’re a wanderer to him. You understand, right?”
“Yes, I understand.”
Yeo-ul nodded.
Kite, satisfied, clapped his hands.
“Great. Now that we’ve sorted things out, we need a celebration drink. It wouldn’t be right not to have some drinks on such a good day.”
Kite went to the railing and called out.
“Hugo! Do we still have the wine I stashed away from Brother? Bring three glasses, one small for Yeo-ul!”
“Haha. I’ll bring it right up.”
Yeo-ul, startled, looked at Kite.
“A drink? With me?”
“Of course. By the way, how much can you drink? Do you like wine? If not, should we get something else?”
Yeo-ul stared at Kite, bewildered.
“What are you talking about? I’m only seven years old!”
Even considering her mental age, she shouldn’t be drinking.
But it seemed Kite didn’t see any problem with that.
“What does being seven have to do with drinking?”
Yeo-ul’s jaw dropped.
Such a statement would have pediatricians running with stethoscopes raised.
Then she remembered.
‘Oh right, the medical knowledge here is terrible!’
They wouldn’t know about the harmful effects of alcohol on children.
Feeling a sense of responsibility for the poor medical knowledge of this world, Yeo-ul quickly said,
“Children shouldn’t drink alcohol. It destroys brain cells.”
“Brain cells? What’s that?”
“It…makes you less smart. It’s especially dangerous for children.”
“But I drank a lot as a child.”
Kite tilted his head.
“When Brother was heartbroken, he practically lived in a bottle. But I’m incredibly smart now.”
Yeo-ul, momentarily speechless, quickly replied,
“That’s because you’re naturally very smart. If you hadn’t drunk, you’d be even smarter. Though you’re already amazing.”
“Really? I’d be even smarter?”
Kite’s eyes widened.
“That sounds dangerous. I like being just the way I am. Maybe drinking was a good thing then?”
Yeo-ul quickly found another reason.
“Alcohol doesn’t just make you less smart; it can also affect brain function. It can make it hard to control impulses.”
“Impulses?”
Kite looked like he had an epiphany.
“So, my urge to tease Brother uncontrollably is because of the alcohol he made me drink?”
“…What?”
“It’s karma. I need to tell Brother this. Thank you, Yeo-ul, for giving me a legitimate reason to tease him forever.”
Kite grinned.
Yeo-ul, trying to warn about alcohol, had inadvertently given Kite a reason to torment Lantus.
Kite struggled to hold back his laughter.
‘Yeo-ul is just as fun to tease as Brother.’
She was the perfect match for the role of wanderer and guide.
While he pondered how to further amuse himself with them, Liriana gently hugged Yeo-ul’s shoulders and smiled at Kite.
“Kite, stop teasing Yeo-ul. You might get into trouble.”
Her clear eyes, hinting at the madness from the shrine incident, made Kite flinch.
He quickly looked away.
But it was clear he was already planning to tease Yeo-ul more once Liriana left.
‘Oh, Lantus, please come back soon.’
Despite Liriana’s protection(?), Yeo-ul was already missing Lantus, overwhelmed by Kite’s antics.
