- Chapter 33 - Episode 033: Excessive Cheating in Base Defense
**Episode 033: Excessive Cheating in Base Defense**
“Okay, we’re heading out.”
“Oh yeah.”
Watching the two leave, I decided to increase the defense of this base as initially planned. The reason I chose these two is that this time, there was something I wanted Enjyu’s help with.
Moreover, both of them have already surpassed level six, and with their +5 equipment, they should be fine even without Enjyu. That was the judgment.
Today, to ensure at least the safety around the shrine and the house, I wanted to surround the area just outside with walls.
I arrived at the site with that goal in mind.
First, I started by cutting down the trees in the vicinity and leveling the ground. That part could be done easily with the physical abilities and skills after my stats awakened.
After spending about three hours finishing the clearing and sacred ground for today, I moved on to the next positive.
“Stone Bullet.”
First, I released a Stone Bullet using magic to gather the necessary materials. I maximized the size of the rock being shot by charging it with magical power, and then launched it with the minimum speed.
—Zshhh
As a result, a massive chunk of rock, about five meters in height, fell a little way ahead. I would use this rock as a material to produce a gigantic wall.
“Production.”
While touching the rock, I adjusted and created the wall to be in the ideal position. The difficulty wasn’t that high, but I realized that not only the difficulty but also the size affected the production time.
Having completed the minimum verification, I reflected on the points that still needed to be verified and proceeded to create the next wall.
The strange walls would adhere side by side, combining into a single wall.
“What’s going on with this…?”
“Nei?”
As I tilted my head, Enjyu also floated beside my face and tilted her head. The production skill still had many mysteries.
And then, it took about another five hours.
“I finally finished!!”
“Nei!!”
I had successfully surrounded the area around this shrine with walls. With this, the security here had undoubtedly increased compared to before.
However, I was considering an extra measure.
“Alright then, Enjyu, I’m counting on your luck, okay?”
“Nei!!”
It was about relying on Enjyu’s luck and my extraordinary luck to reinforce these walls. When I conveyed this while patting her head, Enjyu chirped energetically, indicating she would take care of it.
If it failed, the five hours I had worked hard on today would be in vain. But if possible, I wanted to raise it to the maximum.
“Okay, let’s start the reinforcement!!”
“Nei!!”
I immediately began the reinforcement.
And the result…
“It’s done, huh…”
“Nei!!”
Without any trouble, I was able to reinforce it to +5 in one go again. It proved once again that Enjyu’s power had a significant influence on yesterday’s reinforcement.
As I gazed up at the wall in amazement, Enjyu chirped, “Good for you.”
“Thanks for helping today. Thanks to you, this place has become much safer, you know?”
“Nei?”
After properly thanking Enjyu, she tilted her head, asking, “Thanks to me?”
“Yeah, it’s all thanks to you.”
“Nei!! Nei nei nei!!”
“Haha, ticklish, huh?”
When I affirmed it again, Enjyu expressed her joy, saying, “I’m happy to be helpful!!” She jumped at my face and licked me.
It was so cute that I felt like fainting, but I smiled wryly and comforted Enjyu by petting her.
“Oh, oh, what’s this?”
“Hahaha… I thought Rokudo-kun was a cheat, but it seems I underestimated him. It seems I need to reconsider my perception.”
As I played with Enjyu, it seemed the two had returned, and their voices reached my ears. I quickly headed toward the direction of the voices, and they were marveling at the towering defensive wall.
“Welcome back.”
“Just now, or rather, did you do all this in one day?”
“And it’s faintly glowing blue? Is it really what I think it is?”
As soon as I appeared, the two interrogated me with a touch of sarcasm.
“If I were to answer your questions, it would obviously be yes.”
“There probably isn’t a safer place than this anymore, right?”
“That’s right. With this, the Shadows won’t be able to enter from anywhere other than the entrance.”
When I proudly stated this, the two exchanged glances with a somewhat bewildered expression.
“It’s fine if it’s safe, but, how do I put it, the invaders seem pitiful, or it’s just unbearable… I feel sorry for them.”
“Since it’s impossible to capture this place, it’s also unfortunate for the attackers.”
When I countered, the two were sympathizing with the Shadows with an indescribable expression.
“You guys are on our side, right!?”
“It’s just that the level of safety here is crazy. However, if a strong monster manages to get inside, it’ll be tough.”
“I see. Then let’s create an escape route.”
“If we can make one, it would be reassuring.”
After responding to my retort, Sato shrugged his shoulders and then proceeded to inform us about the issues here.
Finally, after creating an escape route, we had our usual routine: eating, taking a bath, sharing information, and preparing for sleep. However, I decided to go out for a bit.
I wanted to provide supplies. It had been three or four days since then, and with a large number of evacuees, the stockpile must have been depleting at an incredible speed.
I took Enjyu with me, who insisted on following, and embarked on a journey to find supplies. With Enjyu by my side, we effortlessly discovered remaining supplies and, just like before, left them in front of the school before returning home.
After that, for a while, I focused on leveling up with the rotation of training sessions with Sato and Shuji to enhance myself.
