- Chapter 31 - Episode 031: Once it Happens, it's Bound to Happen Again
**Episode 031: Once it Happens, it’s Bound to Happen Again**
The next day, the three of us set out once again.
“All right, let’s do it today too.”
I decided to verify the production capabilities through crafting.
“Storage.”
First, I tested the storage skill. I placed small items to grasp the overall capacity, and it turned out to be about the size of a small storage shed.
“It’s quite small. For me, who has a magic bag, the capacity is quite limited. However, according to the appraisal explanation, the capacity will increase over time with continued use. So, having a magic bag now shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks to the six status points and Enjyu’s great luck.”
“Production.”
Next, when I envisioned the production skill in my mind, the names of currently producible items appeared in a list in my head. The necessary materials for each item were also listed.
“Oh, there are quite a few items I can make.”
There were quite a few materials in the treasure chest, allowing me to create a fair number of items. The types ranged from weapons and armor to clothing, furniture, medicine, and more. Perhaps due to the low rank, I couldn’t make high-level items yet, but this implied that as the rank increased, creating high-level items would become possible.
“Now, let’s try making something. Let’s start with a healing potion that seems useful.”
Since I wouldn’t know anything unless I tried, I decided to experiment by producing a potion that I would probably use frequently, having a good supply of materials.
I selected the lower-level healing potion from the list in my mind and executed the skill.
“Pong!”
With a sound resembling uncorking a wine bottle and smoke, a potion in a test tube-like container appeared in the palm of my hand.
“That was fast.”
Without doing anything special, as long as I had the materials, I could create items instantly using the storage and my magic bag. It was dangerously powerful. Just to be sure, I attempted to create other items, but none of them were instantly produced as long as I had the materials.
The crafting time varied depending on the difficulty of the item. It ranged from a few seconds to around thirty minutes. For lower-level items, even if they were a bit challenging, I could make them within thirty minutes. Simple items required almost no magic, while those that took thirty minutes used a bit more magic.
It seemed that crafting was a skill where the creation time and magic consumption changed according to the difficulty of the item. If the rank increased, the crafting time for lower-level items would decrease, and I might be able to create higher-level items. Currently, the treasure chest seemed to yield better items, but in the long run, this crafting skill might become more useful.
“Repair.”
Next, I tried the repair skill. Weapons and armor had durability, and this skill allowed me to restore that durability. However, in this world, items like furniture and clothing also had durability, making this a cheat-like ability that could repair those too.
Now, I would repair the steel sword with the lowest durability.
However, repairing without using anything is not possible. Materials are required, of course. In the case of the steel sword, steel is naturally needed, and luckily, I had obtained it from the treasure chest, making it executable. I focused on the skill, overlaying steel onto the steel sword. It started to shine brightly, the material being absorbed into the sword, and the light quickly subsided. The steel sword now sparkled like it did when I first acquired it.
“It takes only a few seconds, and it doesn’t use much magic.”
Regarding the repair skill, it seems that as long as you have the materials, you can fix it in a few seconds to tens of seconds.
Lastly,
“Enhance.”
This is a skill to strengthen various items. You might wonder what this is about, but if enhancement is successful, the item will have a notation of +〇 added to it, indicating an improvement in performance. The number inside the circle increases with each enhancement, enhancing the performance. However, as the number increases, the success rate of enhancement decreases.
The tricky part is that if it succeeds, and that’s a big “if,” when you fail, the original weapon disappears along with all the items used for enhancement.
The terrifying aspect of enhancement is its resemblance to gambling. If you succeed once, you might think you can do it again, and you end up challenging it repeatedly, losing all your items if they disappear.
This system is commonly found in MMORPGs, resembling a skill that many people have regretted using. Although incredibly useful, it is also an extremely risky skill.
“Ah…”
In fact, I tried it with an item of the same equipment, but after succeeding three or four times, I got caught up in the idea that if I succeeded again, the performance would improve even more. I just failed on the fifth enhancement now.
For enhancement, you need enhancement stones, and since I didn’t have many, the loss is a bit painful. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying again and again.
“Ah…”
But before I knew it, my vision warped again, and I couldn’t stand, collapsing on the spot. It seems I did it again. I will definitely be teased by the others when I wake up.
With such thoughts, my consciousness faded away.
