- Chapter 5: Isolated from the World? Sorry, I'm Going Home!
Saiki Kusuo’s gaze moved to the side of Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, where his target was standing.
Horikita Suzune.
She possessed a beauty not inferior to Kushida Kikyou and Ichinose Honami but didn’t have the liveliness of Kushida or Ichinose. She seemed very cold, almost as if ‘keep out’ was written on her face. She wore the school’s white skirt and dark black over-the-knee socks, her fair thighs partly visible between the hem of her skirt and the top of her socks.
【Is his name Saiki? Seems like he’s in my class, but there’s no need for much interaction.】
‘Although it sounds a bit annoying, such an attitude is actually good for me.’
Saiki Kusuo thought to himself.
He had learned about the school’s class division rules using his telepathy.
In this school, academic performance was not the key factor. Adaptability, decision-making, leadership abilities—all were assessed.
Students assigned to Class D clearly had significant flaws, and Horikita Suzune’s flaw was a lack of leadership, treating everyone else as a burden. That’s why, despite her excellent grades, she was placed in Class D.
Saiki Kusuo took this opportunity to relay Kushida’s words to Horikita Suzune, whose reaction was exactly as he expected, refusing on the spot.
“Please tell Kushida that I’m not interested in such childish acts as making friends.”
After leaving these words, Horikita Suzune turned and left.
Saiki Kusuo wasn’t surprised by this outcome. He simply conveyed Kushida’s message and asked Horikita Suzune’s opinion, which had nothing to do with him. In the end, all he wanted was the coffee pudding he would get for completing the task.
‘I just came to buy some daily necessities to appear normal and not arouse suspicion from others. It’s not because of the coffee pudding.’
Saiki Kusuo muttered to himself, then left the supermarket.
…
It was already evening, and Saiki Kusuo had returned to his dormitory room.
He used his student card to unlock the door and entered. For a school dormitory, the room was quite luxurious.
The room wasn’t very large, but it was more than enough for one person. Apart from the bed and desk, there was still plenty of space. There was an en-suite bathroom, shoe cabinet, wardrobe, and a computer for students. All the essentials were provided.
However, for Saiki Kusuo, it made no difference. He didn’t plan to sleep here, preferring to rest at home at night.
Before that, he used his x-ray vision to check the entire room, ensuring there were no surveillance devices. This guaranteed he could freely use his abilities in this not-so-spacious private area without being discovered.
After ensuring his surroundings were secure, Saiki Kusuo texted Kushida the results of his not-so-pleasant interaction with Horikita Suzune.
Kushida: I see… but thank you very much, Saiki-kun! I’ll treat you to a meal tomorrow! (* ̄︶ ̄)!
From any angle, Kushida Kikyou seemed like a very cute girl, likely to attract many ordinary boys.
However, Saiki Kusuo had known what kind of person she was inside from the first glance, even before they formally met.
Not just her, but most others in the class were also odd.
But for Saiki Kusuo, it didn’t matter. As long as he could eat coffee pudding every day.
‘Speaking of coffee pudding, I should try out the jelly machine I just bought– Someone’s coming again?’
Saiki Kusuo turned his head towards the door, and a few seconds later, there was a knock.
Opening the door, he saw a handsome boy.
“Hello Saiki-kun, I’m Hirata. Do you remember me?”
Saiki Kusuo looked at the boy, remembering him as Hirata Yōsuke, a member of Class D.
Through telepathy, Saiki Kusuo already knew the purpose of his visit.
“I’ve created a class group chat and want to add you. Is that okay?”
Hirata Yōsuke, holding the school-issued terminal, said with a smile.
‘Finally, someone a bit more normal.’
Saiki Kusuo thought to himself,
‘Adding me to a class group chat? In the same class, creating a group chat does make things more convenient. Although I don’t need it, not joining might seem too antisocial.’
Then, he nodded and joined the class group chat created by Hirata Yōsuke.
Saiki Kusuo stared at his terminal screen, scanning through it. Almost everyone from Class D had joined the chat, including Horikita Suzune, who was typically aloof.
“Thank you very much, Saiki-kun. I’ll let you rest now. See you!”
Hirata Yōsuke smiled at Saiki Kusuo, nodded, and then left the room.
Saiki Kusuo glanced at his phone screen. The classmates in the group were already chatting animatedly.
Karuizawa Kei: I didn’t expect such benefits from this school, amazing! There’s even a clothing store with lots of pretty clothes! Any sisters want to go check it out tomorrow?
Satō Maya: I think it’s a good idea, let’s go together tomorrow!
Kushida Kikyou: Sure, sounds fun!
Although it was just the first day of school, relationships among the students in the class seemed to have become quite close, and they were clearly immersed in the joy of just having enrolled.
A school that provides everything including living expenses and even gives students money, something they hadn’t imagined before enrolling.
Now, probably only Saiki Kusuo knew that everything obtained in the school came at a price.
Saiki Kusuo glanced over the group chat. There wasn’t much of substance, and only a few people were actively chatting, with many not speaking at all.
“Nobody else should be coming to find me now.”
Saiki Kusuo then activated his instant teleportation ability and returned to his own home.
The rules of being cut off from the outside world did not exist for him.
