Reincarnated into a World Filled with Dungeons, But My Blessing Turned Out to Be the Most Challenging Dungeon - Chapter 52
The commotion from earlier turned out to be an announcement about the capture of the bandit group I had taken down this morning.
Apparently, the authorities had extracted information from the bandits we captured, and a subjugation force had been assembled.
“But you know, something strange happened,” Isabella said, raising a finger and furrowing her brows in concern.
“Something strange?”
“Yeah. When the subjugation force raided the bandits’ hideout, they found that the bandits had already been wiped out.”
“Huh, that is odd.”
“So now, the issue is figuring out who did it. They’re collecting eyewitness reports on the bulletin board.”
“I see. Hopefully, they find something.”
As I responded to Isabella’s casual conversation—
‘Master, you’re playing innocent, huh? After all, you’re the one who took down the entire bandit group with that method yesterday,’ Eve teased me.
It was just a little illusion magic to implant trauma and some elemental magic to finish them off. Nothing too extreme.
“Anyway, could you show me the results of the dismantling?”
“Ah, sure. Come this way.”
When I shifted to business talk, Isabella took the lead and guided me inside.
If the bandits were safely captured, then nothing could be better. The people of the city could now live in peace, and I had gained valuable cores and funds.
The only issue was the Rank II cores. If I tried to sell them now, I would definitely raise suspicion. I should wait until the heat dies down before making a move.
“This is the monster I dismantled,” Isabella said, pointing at the neatly arranged piles of meat, fur, fangs, and claws. In a separate area, the magic cores were laid out. Since they weren’t for sale, I quickly collected them.
“I couldn’t do the appraisal myself, so I had the master check. After calculating the selling price, your share comes out to sixteen gold coins, while mine is four.”
That was exactly the split we had agreed upon beforehand.
“If you’re okay with this, then the transaction is complete. What do you think?”
Since the master did the appraisal, there shouldn’t be any major discrepancies.
“Yes, that works for me. Thank you.”
With that, Isabella brought out the money and handed it to me, then—
“Hehe, thank you, Erik.”
“I should be the one thanking you. You did the work, after all.”
“That’s not true. Because you entrusted me with such a big job, I got a lot more practice with dismantling. Thanks to that, the master is going to let me handle bigger jobs from now on.”
Since she successfully dismantled a D-rank monster without issue, Isabella had gained valuable experience.
“So we both benefited. I get a steady income by relying on you, and you improve your dismantling skills.”
As I said that with a smile, she suddenly blushed and started darting her eyes around nervously. She fidgeted with her hair near her ear before suddenly—
“Ah, right! I need to go to the blacksmith. I have to get my dismantling tools repaired.”
She looked over at the dismantling knives lined up against the wall.
“You’re going to repair those?”
From what I could see, the blades were chipped.
“Yeah. The monsters this time were pretty tough. The knives have dulled and chipped, so I need to get them fixed.”
If she repaired all of those, the money she just earned would probably be gone.
“If you don’t mind, could I take care of those knives for you?”
“Huh? …Why?”
Isabella’s eyes widened at my sudden offer.
I had a proposal.
“I know a good repair shop, so I was thinking of taking them there.”
Since I planned to test my new blacksmithing skill soon, I could take care of the repairs myself.
“Wait! That’s too much… I’d feel bad.”
Isabella hesitated. But I really wanted to handle this, so I pushed a little harder.
“It’s really no trouble. That shop doesn’t have much work right now, so they’d be happy to take on even small jobs like this. They’ll do it for a very reasonable price. What do you say?”
After a moment of thought, Isabella finally nodded.
“Okay… if you insist, Erik. I’ll trust you with my partner.”
“Got it! Leave it to me!”
With that, I pounded my chest confidently, ready to take on the task.
