- Chapter 118 - Junior Qin Wan, Misunderstanding Resolved
In the Ascending Heaven Tower, the atmosphere was as tense as iron.
The descendants of the immortal clans gathered around Ying Wudi trembling with fear, their palms sweating profusely from the pressure. Almost all of them wanted to distance themselves from Ying Wudi immediately, worried about becoming collateral damage from Xu Yang’s impending actions.
But their legs were too weak to move.
Just as panic reached its peak, a man dressed in a black robe appeared on the top floor.
Everyone’s eyes shifted toward him. The man’s long black hair flowed like a waterfall, his features were as divine as an immortal’s, and his deep, star-like eyes exuded an extraordinary temperament that compelled respect from all who looked upon him.
“Master Xu, you left too quickly!”
Following closely behind, Liu Feng spoke with a helpless tone. He cast his gaze toward Ying Wudi and immediately noticed the embarrassing sight of his divine son kneeling on the floor. Liu Feng’s eye twitched, and after a moment of awkward silence, he bowed his head and introduced, “Divine son, this is Xu Yang, the Peak Master of Purple Cloud Peak of the Qingming Sect!”
All eyes turned toward Ying Wudi, waiting to see how he would respond. Would he back down, swallowing his pride, or insist on the challenge and uphold the glory of the Ying family?
If it were them, they knew the answer—they wouldn’t dare challenge Xu Yang after seeing such terrifying displays of power. The outcome was already clear. At most, they could only hope Xu Yang would spare Ying Wudi some dignity.
Ying Wudi’s trembling legs struggled to support him as he stood up. With a tone full of reverence, he bowed and said, “Junior Ying Wudi greets Senior Xu Yang!”
Hearing this, Jiang Haoyu let out a sigh of relief. He had feared his stubborn friend would try to maintain his pride, but Ying Wudi’s respectful acknowledgment of Xu Yang was a wise move.
‘Brother Wudi, admitting defeat to someone like him isn’t a disgrace. This is what it means to be a wise man who understands the situation.’
As Ying Wudi submitted, the other immortal clan descendants no longer dared to display any arrogance. One after another, they stepped forward to pay their respects:
“Junior Zhu Zhaohou greets Senior Xu Yang!”
“Junior Qi Xundu greets Senior Xu Yang!”
“Junior Jiang Haoyu greets Senior Xu Yang!”
“Junior Jiang Yaomeng greets Senior Xu Yang!”
Jiang Yaomeng, who initially respected Xu Yang only because of Qin Wan, now felt genuine admiration. She couldn’t deny his unparalleled strength—or his striking looks.
‘This Xu Yang is definitely the second most handsome man I’ve ever seen!’ she thought.
As for the most handsome? That title belonged to her Brother Wan, of course.
She turned to glance at Qin Wan, but to her surprise, he was squatting and acting strangely.
“Brother Wan, what are you doing?” she asked in a low voice. “Isn’t Senior Xu the person you admire most?”
Jiang Haoyu chuckled. “Brother Qin, this must be the legendary case of Ye Gong’s love for dragons! It’s admiration until the real thing shows up!”
‘You’re overthinking it. I’m just worried about being beaten…’
Qin Wan knew he couldn’t hide any longer—his master must have already noticed him. Panicking, he stood up, stammered, and bowed, “Junior Qin Wan greets Senior Xu Yang!”
Xu Yang’s sharp gaze lingered on Qin Wan for a moment before shifting to Ying Wudi. He chuckled lightly, “As soon as I arrived in White Emperor City, Liu Zhenjun informed me that the son of the Ying clan wished to challenge me.”
“In that case, let’s not waste time. Shall we begin?”
Ying Wudi felt sweat dripping down his forehead. He regretted his earlier decision to make a name for himself. Qin Wan had warned him that Xu Yang’s talent and potential far exceeded his own, but he hadn’t believed it. Now, he was utterly trapped.
“Senior Xu Yang, how could I dare challenge you? I only seek guidance from Senior!” Ying Wudi’s face paled, and his voice trembled as he hastily tried to retreat from the situation.
Xu Yang leaped gracefully into the martial arena, his expression calm. “Guidance is fine. Come down.”
Ying Wudi felt like crying but had no tears. Even though Xu Yang had suppressed his cultivation to the perfection stage of the Core Formation realm, the pressure he radiated felt as if Ying Wudi was facing an ancient beast. His body shivered uncontrollably.
“Senior Xu, if you offer guidance… could you please be gentle?” Ying Wudi hesitated atop the high platform, his tone pleading.
The crowd stared in disbelief. Was this really the same overconfident, self-assured Ying Wudi they knew?
“Come on, Little Ying, don’t be shy. I’m not some cruel, tyrannical demon. I’ll go easy on you!” Xu Yang coaxed with a smile.
“I’d rather you not call me divine son Ying—it’s too intimidating. Just call me Little Ying…” Ying Wudi muttered pitifully.
“Alright, Little Ying. Come down. I promise I won’t beat you to death.”
Ying Wudi swallowed nervously. ‘Won’t kill me? That means beating me half to death is still on the table!’
With no better options, Ying Wudi jumped down from the high platform. However, as soon as he landed and met Xu Yang’s gaze, his legs buckled, and he fell to his knees with a loud thud.
The crowd froze, utterly stunned.
Ying Wudi… knelt again?
Xu Yang frowned slightly, pulled a bottle of pills from his storage ring, and tossed it to Ying Wudi. “Little Ying, my sect isn’t exactly wealthy. Take these pills. And please, don’t kneel again—I really can’t afford it.”
Though Ying Wudi didn’t fully understand Xu Yang’s words, he still felt deeply embarrassed. Holding the pills tightly, he forced himself to stand and stiffly replied, “Thank you, Senior, for the gift.”
Ying Wudi took a deep breath, steadied himself, and prepared for the sparring session. However, before he could complete the incantation for his technique, Xu Yang casually raised his hand.
A silent, invisible force surged forward, expanding like a domain that enveloped the entire arena.
Ying Wudi’s qi was instantly suppressed. The incantation in his hand faltered as his gathered energy dissipated into nothingness.
‘How do I fight this?’ Ying Wudi thought, dumbfounded.
Before he could react further, Xu Yang’s fist, blazing with golden light, struck like a falling star.
Bang!
The force of the blow sent Ying Wudi flying backward like a broken kite. Blood spurted from his mouth as he crashed to the ground, unconscious.
The crowd was utterly silent, their faces frozen in shock.
In just one move, Xu Yang had completely crushed the so-called unbeatable Ying Wudi.
