Qin Yu quickly stopped her, feeling a bit of a headache.
“Mom, please stop spouting nonsense. Qiao Qiao is the only woman I’ve ever loved in my life. Can you stop acting like this? It’s really making things difficult for me, you know?”
“Ah Yu…”
Mrs. Qin wanted to say something more, but Qin Yu firmly yet gently pushed her out of the room.
“Mom, I’m begging you, just go home for now.”
Outside, Lin Shen saw the CEO coming out and quickly snapped out of his thoughts to follow him.
When the CEO had asked him to investigate Su Qiao’s identity, what he found had genuinely shocked him.
He never expected that Su Qiao would turn out to be Qin Yu’s fiancée.
This was trouble.
How did his CEO end up falling for…
In the stairwell, Lin Shen handed over the documents he had prepared.
“Boss, here is a preliminary profile on Miss Su. The rest of the details are still being investigated by the team.”
“Throw it away.”
Qin Mohan said coldly, pulling a cigarette pack from his pocket. He lit one and took a harsh drag.
“Huh?”
Lin Shen was stunned.
Wasn’t the CEO the one who had demanded Su Qiao’s information at top speed?
Why didn’t he want it now?
Could it be because he was upset about what had happened in the hospital room?
Or… was he jealous?
Ahem. Since his CEO had finally taken an interest in someone, as a subordinate, Lin Shen felt he ought to lend a helping hand.
Of course, it wasn’t because of those rumors suggesting he and the CEO had that kind of relationship.
“Ahem.”
Lin Shen cleared his throat twice to signal his presence.
“President, Miss Su’s parents have passed away, and her life in the Qin family seems to be rather difficult.”
Qin Mohan’s expression froze for a moment. He flicked the ash from his cigarette before extending his hand.
“Give it to me.”
Lin Shen hurriedly handed it over.
As Qin Mohan read the words <Qin Yu’s fiancée> on the document, the slight softening of his expression disappeared, replaced by a dark scowl.
The swirling smoke obscured his face, but Lin Shen knew all too well that the CEO’s mood must be terrible.
After all, who would be pleased to find out that the person they’d taken an interest in was their rival’s fiancée?
Not just a girlfriend — a fiancée, with a wedding scheduled for next month.
Lin Shen thought to himself.
This is seriously messed up.
He couldn’t guess what the CEO was thinking, but if the CEO truly had feelings for her, Lin Shen knew he’d have to come up with some sort of solution.
Looking conflicted, Lin Shen hesitated.
“President, um…”
Gripping the document in his hand, Qin Mohan felt a surge of irritation. He turned his head and shot Lin Shen a sharp look.
“Never mind.”
Lin Shen swallowed nervously, deciding it was best to stay silent.
Back in the hospital room, the atmosphere quieted down. Qin Yu sighed and began comforting Su Qiao as usual.
“Qiao Qiao, I’m sorry. My mom didn’t mean it. She just says things like that — you shouldn’t take it to heart.”
Su Qiao: Hmm, I won’t take a dead person’s words to heart.
“Don’t worry. Whether she agrees or not, I’ll always be with you. My wife will only ever be you, no one else.”
Qin Yu’s words were as resolute as they could be, as if he truly loved Su Qiao deeply.
Su Qiao couldn’t be bothered to respond. She kept her head down, her expression indifferent.
Hmph, no one else, huh? More like no one else is as easy to manipulate as me.
Don’t worry, I’ll go back to the Qin family.
Otherwise, how could I make today’s patience worthwhile?
Qin Yu rambled on, speaking words of comfort as he thoughtfully peeled an apple for her.
Meanwhile, Su Qiao lay half-reclined on the bed, feeling annoyed.
So annoying. Why hasn’t this idiot left yet?
Her fingers twitched.
‘Little Four, are you sure I can’t just strangle him?’
[No.]
444 was about to cry.
Help! What do I do when the host keeps threatening to kill someone?
Su Qiao’s hand clenched and unclenched under the blanket.
‘Then can I poison him?’
