His gaze fell on Su Qiao’s right leg, which was wrapped up like a dumpling. There wasn’t a hint of sympathy; instead, there was sharp disdain as she sneered.
“Besides, look at her leg now. Our Qin family is a prestigious household with so many eyes watching us. How can we take in a cripple as a daughter-in-law? Wouldn’t that make us a laughingstock?”
One of her legs was broken, but she still had the nerve to pester her son. How shameless.
A cripple?
Seriously?
Su Qiao was stunned. She moved her right leg slightly. Apart from some pain, it didn’t feel immobile at all.
‘Xiao Si, what’s going on? Am I crippled?’
444 was already fuming with anger.
What kind of person was this Mrs. Qin? Such a vile mouth — did she eat garbage for breakfast?
Hearing Su Qiao’s question, it quickly shook its head.
[No, no! I scanned you before. Your leg is perfectly fine.]
‘Then why are they saying I’m crippled?’
Su Qiao glanced at Qin’s mother and son with some confusion.
Judging by their expressions, they seemed 100% convinced she was disabled.
[Host, did you forget? Before you fell asleep in the car, you told me to make them think your leg was broken. So, I hacked the hospital’s system and altered your medical records.]
Su Qiao suddenly remembered and felt much better.
The corner of her mouth curled up slightly.
‘Good job.’
This gave her time to prepare.
It was rare to be praised — 444 felt a sense of pride for the first time. It lifted its metaphorical chin in delight.
[Hmph! I’m very useful, so you better treat me better from now on. Don’t just scold me all the time.]
Looking at its smug attitude, Su Qiao chuckled.
“Alright, I’ll treat you better from now on.”
[Now that’s more like it]
444 said, satisfied.
It thought its host wasn’t too bad after all.
Su Qiao gazed at her right ankle, wrapped in a cast and looking ridiculously oversized, like a pig’s hoof. Her eyes flickered slightly.
Which kind of quack doctor did this?
Wrapping it up like this, anyone would really think her leg was broken.
But then again…
‘Can I kill that nagging woman?’
She was simply too noisy, strutting around as if her son were some great catches.
A hypocritical, weak man who couldn’t withstand a single punch — did she think she was interested in him?
What a joke.
[No, you absolutely cannot commit violence in public.]
444 felt a headache coming on, shaking its head firmly for the umpteenth time.
Su Qiao had only asked casually.
‘Oh, so it’s okay if no one sees?’
[…]
Could you not be so brutal? I’m still just a baby AI!
444 felt exhausted.
“This is the capital city. What kind of women don’t exist here? Why must it be someone from such a small family? She looks so plain and unrefined; I’d be embarrassed to take her to any banquet.”
Mrs. Qin continued her tirade, oblivious to the fact that she had just brushed past death’s doorstep.
444 felt secondhand anxiety for her.
[Why else? Of course, it’s for the shares in the host’s hands!]
The events of the day had been overwhelming, and even Qin Yu was starting to lose his patience.
“Mom, can you stop already?”
He had heard these words so many times that his ears were about to fall off.
Mrs. Qin wasn’t ready to give up, pointing at Su Qiao in frustration.
“Am I wrong? Look at her! No family background, no abilities, and now a broken leg. She’s shamelessly clinging to my son without any self-awareness. If she had any sense, she’d leave on her own.”
Mrs. Qin’s gaze at Su Qiao was like looking at garbage.
Su Qiao’s hands started itching again.
“Mom, what are you even saying?”
Qin Yu was now most annoyed by the suggestion of letting Su Qiao leave.
For some reason, after Su Qiao’s car accident today, he’d had a bad feeling.
Seeing his impatience, Mrs. Qin sighed inwardly and compromised.
“Alright, alright, I get it. You like her, and I won’t meddle anymore. But the official daughter-in-law of the Qin family absolutely cannot be a cripple. As for her, keep her as your mistress or pamper her however you like — it’s up to you.”
A mother couldn’t do much if her son was set on someone.
She didn’t want to drive a wedge between them.
Mrs. Qin shot Su Qiao a sharp glance, full of condescension.
“Su Qiao, my son likes you, so as his mother, I’ll reluctantly agree. But you must step aside from the position of the Qin family’s legitimate daughter-in-law. If you truly love Ah Yu, you should think more about him. Don’t let others mock him for marrying a crippled wife.”
