Phoenix Power: The True Colors of the Empress - Chapter 19. Telepathy.
Cang Ling Ye was seated at his desk, deep in planning with Mo Fan and Nangong Yu, when a sudden and violent thump in his heart startled him. This intense sensation alarmed Mo Fan and Nangong Yu, and they hurriedly moved closer to check on him.
Despite assuring them he was fine, Cang Ling Ye’s eyes were filled with nervousness and unease. He struggled to calm down for a long while. As he gazed at the flickering candlelight, Wu’er’s figure suddenly flashed across his mind. He saw her lonely and helpless in the Dark Moon Forest, as if something terrible had happened there.
This thought made Cang Ling Ye’s heart race even more. For six years, he had worked diligently, finally earning the title of Night King from Emperor Cang Qian—a well-deserved reward. Despite the Emperor’s lack of regard for him, Cang Ling Ye’s achievements were undeniable and full of glory.
The Emperor and the courtiers had all witnessed his success. Even though Emperor Cang Qian did not favor him, he could not ignore the courtiers’ admiration for Cang Ling Ye. Reluctantly, under their persuasion, the Emperor conferred a title upon him and granted him a residence outside the palace. Though the location was remote compared to the second prince, Cang Xuan Jin’s, lavish residence, Cang Ling Ye was content. This was a place he could call his own in the future.
His achievements were visible to everyone, and even if the Emperor wished to deny them, he could do nothing about it. This was both the best and the worst of times. No one could hinder his hard work or dim his brilliance. As long as he had the ability to make great achievements, everyone would recognize his contributions.
That night, as he sat with Mo Fan and Nangong Yu, the unsettling feeling returned, and he saw Wu’er’s figure again. Despite his many responsibilities and achievements, Cang Ling Ye had never forgotten Wu’er. She was the reason behind his relentless efforts; he wanted to bring her out of the forest and offer her a peaceful life.
After so many years, Cang Ling Ye had never forgotten Wu’er. The reason he worked so tirelessly was because of Wu’er. He wanted to bring her out of the forest so she could live a peaceful life.
Since leaving the Dark Moon Forest six years ago, Cang Ling Ye had not returned. Instead, he focused all his attention on the Imperial Court and the battlefield, striving for his own achievements. Yet, despite his many responsibilities, Wu’er was never far from his thoughts.
Though constantly preoccupied with the infighting in the imperial court, Wu’er remained buried deep in his heart. Realizing he could not concentrate on anything else tonight, he asked Mo Fan and Nangong Yu to leave. He had much on his mind.
Cang Ling Ye pondered whether he should visit the Dark Moon Forest to check on Wu’er and ensure she was safe. This was something he could not let go of. Since leaving the forest, Cang Ling Ye had meticulously followed his plan, allowing his forces to grow alongside his ambitions.
Currently, everything seemed to be progressing according to plan. However, a strong and unsettling premonition gripped him. He felt compelled to make a trip to the Dark Moon Forest, sensing something must have happened to Wu’er to cause his reaction.
Reflecting on his experiences over the years, Cang Ling Ye’s heart felt conflicted. Life had turned him into a seemingly heartless and cold-blooded individual. No matter what happened, nothing seemed to move his heart, now sealed in ice.
Only Wu’er in the Dark Moon Forest and his mother, whom he had never met, remained the soft spots in his heart. Over time, these tender places grew smaller due to his cold exterior.
In the dead of night, Cang Ling Ye often thought about his situation. Sometimes it seemed good, sometimes bad. He had already made up his mind. He had no one to rely on. If he did not remain steadfast, it would be impossible for him to complete the great cause he envisioned.
Thus, he had no choice but to force himself to become a cold person. Only then could he pursue his dreams without any weaknesses for others to exploit. He needed to be invulnerable to move forward on the path of his great cause.
In reality, something had indeed happened to Wu’er, but she was now safe and sound. She had even successfully become Elder Ming Zhe’s disciple, a dream many in the pugilistic world aspired to.
Wu’er and Elder Ming Zhe had not left the Dark Moon Forest. The forest was filled with many legends, and Elder Ming Zhe wanted to stay and uncover the reasons behind its ghostly reputation. Additionally, Wu’er was reluctant to leave. She had lived there for twelve years and was still attached to many places within the forest.
Therefore, the two decided to remain in the Dark Moon Forest for a while. Elder Ming Zhe could teach Wu’er various cultivation techniques and the ability to communicate.
Elder Ming Zhe, now living in the Dark Moon Forest, appeared much freer and more relaxed than before. He no longer had the demeanor of a person of virtue and prestige; instead, it was as if he had regained his youth, becoming both a teacher and a friend to Wu’er.
Wu’er, with tears in her eyes, personally buried the corpses of the wolves. These wolves had been like family to her, and she never expected to lose so many of them. This left her feeling unusually sorrowful and indignant.
As Wu’er did not know how to cook and only knew how to make simple things, cooking was left to Elder Ming Zhe.
“Girl, who do you think is the master and who is the disciple between the two of us? You actually want me to cook for you. If others were to know about this, they would probably laugh me to death. Only you would receive such treatment!”
Elder Ming Zhe pointed at Wu’er with a smile as he started a fire. Despite the mock displeasure on his face, there was still a smile at the corner of his mouth.
Wu’er understood what Elder Ming Zhe meant and looked at him with a shy smile. She got along very well with Elder Ming Zhe.
Perhaps because she had grown up with a pack of wolves, Wu’er had developed a keen intuition that allowed her to easily distinguish between good and bad people. Just as she had instinctively saved Cang Ling Ye when she first saw him, she now felt the same trust towards Elder Ming Zhe.
Cang Ling Ye had always held a special place in Wu’er’s heart. Initially, she looked forward to his return, but as time passed without any news, she buried her longing deep within her heart.
