Phoenix Power: The True Colors of the Empress - Chapter 16. The Blood Demon's Attack.
Just like that, six years passed. Cang Ling Ye worked tirelessly in the Cang Qian Empire and, upon reaching adulthood, was honored with the title of Night King. He even had his own residence outside the palace.
Meanwhile, a dreadful and bloody event began to unfold in the Dark Moon Forest.
Wu’er, usually brave and fearless, was now huddled in a corner of a cave, surrounded by a pack of wolves.
These wolves treated Wu’er like one of their own, protecting her as if she were family. Even in danger, they stood by her side.
The door Cang Ling Ye had made for Wu’er was now destroyed and cast outside the cave. Wu’er’s eyes were filled with both anger and fear.
The once mighty and fierce wolves now let out mournful cries that sent shivers down one’s spine. Their usual dominance was replaced by a sense of desolation.
At the entrance of the cave, several wolves lay dead, blood dripping from their necks. Their eyes darted around, still fighting against fate, unwilling to leave this world so soon.
Amidst the fallen wolves stood a person, cradling a wolf and sucking its blood. His eyes were bloodshot, and blood dripped from his mouth onto the ground, looking especially terrifying.
This was Blood Demon. While causing chaos in the human world, he had been chased by Elder Ming Zhe of the Lishan Sword Sect. Severely injured, he had used a trick to escape, barely clinging to life. Now, he had fled to the Dark Moon Forest.
With no other refuge, Blood Demon entered the Dark Moon Forest, knowing he possessed a dark art that allowed him to use the blood of living creatures to quickly regain his strength and stamina.
Though aware of the forest’s dangers, Blood Demon ventured in, driven by desperation.
Initially, he didn’t find the Dark Moon Forest as terrifying as the rumors suggested. But then, he heard the mournful cries of the surrounding wolves.
Rather than fear, Blood Demon felt a sly smile creep across his face.
This was exactly what he needed. The wolf’s blood had the Yin attribute, perfectly aligning with the Blood Demon’s cultivation method. Eagerly, the Blood Demon prepared to suck the blood of the wolves to restore his strength.
As a wolf lunged at the intruder, the Blood Demon swiftly intercepted it. In a heartbeat, the danger was gone. The Blood Demon drained the wolf’s blood, leaving its lifeless body behind.
Wolves are pack animals. Seeing their companion injured, they united and attacked the Blood Demon. Yet, they were no match for him. Soon, their bodies lay scattered across the ground.
The Blood Demon’s eyes gleamed with greed as he seized the surrounding corpses. Most of the wolves were still alive, barely breathing, emitting weak, pitiful cries that warned their pack of the intruder.
Driven by a voracious hunger, the Blood Demon sucked the blood from the wolves. His eyes grew increasingly bloodshot.
This malevolent art, passed down from his ancestors, enabled him to quickly boost his internal energy by consuming fresh blood. They called it nourishing oneself with blood.
Pursued by Ming Zhe and on the brink of death, the Blood Demon knew he wouldn’t survive much longer without the wolves’ blood.
Now, he had consumed enough. All he needed was some time to rest and cultivate. Soon, he would emerge significantly stronger, rendering Ming Zhe no longer a threat.
The Dark Moon Forest was now drenched in blood. Wolf corpses were strewn everywhere, barely alive, awaiting death. Their former majesty was lost. Even those who saw them now felt a pang of pity.
Often, the most ruthless beings are not these fearsome beasts but humans. When humans decide to commit evil, they can be far more vicious than any animal.
Wu’er wanted to confront the intruder who had brought such evil to the Dark Moon Forest. Yet, she knew she was too weak. Rushing out would only make her another victim.
So, she hid in the cave with the wolves, praying the door Cang Ling Ye had made for her would withstand this intruder.
Wu’er was too naive. She underestimated this person’s savagery. Most of the wolves outside were already dead by his hand. He then turned his attention to the cave where Wu’er hid.
His greedy eyes betrayed his madness. Even the once-feared wolves now cowered at the sight of him!
But just as his demonic claws reached for the wolves in the cave, a figure suddenly appeared before him. The sound of bones shattering filled the air. His right hand was completely crushed.
The only sound left was the Blood Demon’s agonized screams, as tragic as the wolves’ cries.
No, his screams were even more mournful than the wolves’ screams!
“You evil beast. I didn’t think that I would be bewitched by you and make you come here to commit murders!”
Elder Ming Zhe stood in front of the Blood Demon and saw the wolf corpses all over the ground. Under the moonlight, the entire Dark Moon Forest was filled with sinister aura. It was a very bloody scene.
After losing sight of the Blood Demon, Elder Ming Zhe had been on a relentless search. The Blood Demon was injured and couldn’t have gone far. So Elder Ming Zhe followed the blood trail and came to the Dark Moon Forest.
He didn’t think that the Blood Demon would retreat into the Dark Moon Forest when he had nowhere else to go.
Hearing the unusually mournful cries of the wolves in the Dark Moon Forest, Elder Ming Zhe was certain that the Blood Demon must have escaped inside. He then followed him in and found the Blood Demon sucking the wolves’ blood in the forest.
“Old thing, I didn’t think that you would chase me so relentlessly. I’ve already escaped here but you still found me. It seems that today, either you die, or I die!”
The Blood Demon had just sucked the wolves’ blood and his cultivation had recovered by more than half. So, when he saw Elder Ming Zhe, he was filled with confidence.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and sneered fiercely at Elder Ming Zhe.
