One Pet Gets Married - Chapter 83
When Zhou Yi heard Chang Ye’s words, she took a deep breath, sat up, and held Chang Ye tightly, still choked with emotion.
“Alright… go freshen up and rest now. Look at you, you’re all sweaty…” Chang Ye closed her eyes and gently patted Zhou Yi’s back.
“Mm…” Zhou Yi nodded, “Then we…”
“I’ll give you a chance,” Chang Ye said.
Hearing those words from Chang Ye’s mouth, Zhou Yi’s mind went blank for a moment.
“What, you don’t want to anymore?” Chang Ye pushed her slightly away from her embrace and raised her hand to caress her face.
Zhou Yi was speechless, just staring at her blankly.
“Let’s try dating for a few months,” Chang Ye said softly, shifting her gaze from Zhou Yi’s cheeks to the side, “If it doesn’t work out, we can end it.”
“I want to…” Zhou Yi came to her senses and grasped Chang Ye’s hand, nodding firmly with determination in her eyes, “I do!”
Chang Ye looked back at her, then reached out and lightly flicked her forehead. “Then go wash up quickly, you’re filthy…”
“Okay… okay!” Zhou Yi said, hurriedly getting up from the floor. However, even though her mind was mostly clear now, her body was still uncoordinated due to the effects of alcohol.
Watching Zhou Yi’s swaying figure as she walked towards the bathroom, Chang Ye let out a deep sigh, turned on the central air conditioning, and wiped away a tear with her palm.
“Will you… leave?” Zhou Yi paused at the bathroom door and looked back at her.
“I’m tired, I won’t leave. I’ll rest here tonight,” Chang Ye shook her head.
“Good.” Zhou Yi smiled, then continued towards the bathroom, but nearly tripped due to being overwhelmed with emotions.
“Oh, you…” Chang Ye immediately stood up when she saw this.
“It’s fine… I’m… fine…” Zhou Yi quickly said, steadying herself against the doorframe.
Chang Ye nodded, rubbing her arm.
Over an hour later, Chang Ye had also finished freshening up. When she came out, she saw that Zhou Yi seemed to have already fallen asleep on the bed.
She quietly walked over, got into bed, and turned on her side, propping her face on her hand. Smiling, she silently gazed at the sleeping Zhou Yi, reaching out to stroke her hair and tucking the stray strands that had fallen back behind her ear.
She looked just like a child who had received pocket money from an adult, no longer crying or fussing, finally able to sleep peacefully.
Holding Zhou Yi’s hand resting on the pillow, Chang Ye gently kissed her forehead. “Goodnight.”
The next day.
When Zhou Yi woke up, her throat felt painfully dry, and her head felt like it had been drilled through.
Sitting dazed on the bed for a while, she looked down and adjusted the champagne-colored silk pajamas she was wearing. Recalling the events of last night, she reflexively turned her head to look at the other side of the bed.
Chang Ye wasn’t there. She didn’t know if what happened last night was real or just a dream.
Getting out of bed, Zhou Yi didn’t bother to freshen up and quickly walked out of the room with her phone in hand, running downstairs.
Just as Zhou Yi was about to call Chang Ye, she unlocked her phone and saw a message from her: “I emptied your fridge. I made breakfast for you and left it in the kitchen so it wouldn’t get cold. Go eat when you wake up.”
Seeing this, Zhou Yi quickly ran to the kitchen. She found a pot of soft, fragrant millet porridge in the rice cooker. In a pan beside it was a ham and egg roll.
Looking at the message and then at the food in the pots, Zhou Yi smiled and lowered her head. With her fingers resting on the counter, she took a deep breath and turned to look out the window, where sunlight had already enveloped most of the world.
The sunlight in her eyes turned her pupils a pale amber color. Zhou Yi unconsciously squinted, her lips curling up slightly.
Time always passes quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the filming of “Fragrance” directed by Tang You’an had wrapped up.
Fortunately, the concerns Song Xici had earlier didn’t materialize. Mo Yu didn’t cause any trouble. After being blocked by Tang You’an, although things were awkward during filming and she made some mistakes causing trouble, she didn’t seek revenge on Tang You’an.
Perhaps she truly liked him. It’s a pity she fell for the wrong person. And she shouldn’t have bothered someone who was already in a relationship.
Since November arrived, the weather in Rongcheng had become particularly gloomy, with rain every other day.
But Tang You’an spent very little time in Rongcheng. Her schedule was now packed full, with endless work to do. After finishing “Fragrance,” she immediately rushed off to begin filming “Key of the Soul.”
This was a horror movie where she played dual roles as the female lead and her murdered twin sister.
The director, Liu Yuhua, was also well-known and happened to be good friends with Ouyang Du.
To be honest, when Tang You’an auditioned, although Liu Yuhua had heard Ouyang Du praise her before, he was still surprised. She was extremely versatile. Tang You’an was truly the type of person who could excel at any role, so Liu Yuhua immediately decided to cast her.
At the same time, the movie “Never Silent” starring Song Xici had also finished filming.
For her, being able to play a character like Jessica was fulfilling a long-held wish.
However, after finishing this film, Song Xici didn’t rush to take on another role. Instead, she started learning about company management from her parents. After all, her parents were getting older, and as their only daughter, she would have to take over many things in the future. She couldn’t just watch the family business fall into the hands of others.
Tang You’an had also become quite adept at navigating the entertainment industry, no longer as naive as before. Due to her personality, anyone who worked with her would give her a thumbs up. She even made it into the top ten of the “Celebrities Most Loved by Media” list voted by the media.
The reason given was that despite her rapid rise to fame, she had no airs about her. If she was late for an interview, she would keep apologizing and have her assistant distribute snacks to everyone. Moreover, she was always cheerful, as if there was never any frustration in her world.
As autumn gave way to winter, January arrived in the blink of an eye.
Finally, in a rare occurrence, both Tang You’an and Song Xici had free time on New Year’s Eve, so they prepared to go home for the holiday.
Since Song Xici realized she had spent the past few years celebrating at her own home, she decided to spend this year at the Tang family’s home. Having just finished work, the two didn’t even have time for themselves before rushing to the airport.
Tang You’an’s parents, Tang Bingguo and Pei Qiuyue, always seemed a bit cold, mainly because their facial features naturally appeared that way, which often made unfamiliar people hesitant to approach them.
However, when Tang You’an and Song Xici arrived home on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve, they were immediately enticed by the rich aroma of food wafting from inside.
“You’re back?” Tang Bingguo, who had been standing at the door smoking, immediately looked up when he saw the car arrive and Tang You’an and Song Xici get out.
“Yes, Dad,” Tang You’an took out a large bag of things from the trunk and walked over, “Were you waiting here specifically for me?”
“No,” Tang Bingguo coughed, “I was watering the plants.”
“Watering the plants?” Tang You’an was puzzled, looking at the cigarette in his hand, “You don’t have a watering can.”
Tang Bingguo coughed again upon hearing this.
“You’re back?!” Pei Qiuyue’s voice rang out from inside the house at this moment.
“Yes!” Song Xici smiled sweetly.
“If you two had come any later, the old man would have worried himself to death,” Pei Qiuyue came out, looking at Tang Bingguo and then at them, “He got up before dawn, running from room to room, then started muttering to himself in the afternoon about why you two weren’t back yet, constantly coming out to check.”
“Nonsense.” Tang Bingguo’s face turned red and his eyebrows furrowed upon hearing this.
“Since you’re back, come inside first. It’s cold out here,” Tang Bingguo said to Tang You’an and Song Xici, no longer engaging with Pei Qiuyue.
“Oh, okay!” Tang You’an and Song Xici exchanged smiles before following him inside with their bags.
The air conditioning had been on for a while inside, so it was quite warm. The two took off their coats after entering.
“Dad, these are gifts Mom and I picked out for you and Mom. Happy New Year!” Tang You’an said, handing the bag to him.
“Thank you.” Tang Bingguo accepted it and, like a child, opened the bag to examine each item, a slight smile appearing on his serious face.
“Dad, I’m going to the kitchen to help Mom!” Song Xici said at this point.
“Go ahead.” Tang Bingguo nodded.
After that, Song Xici left the father and daughter alone, grabbing an orange before heading to the kitchen.
In the living room, there was still a slightly awkward atmosphere between Tang You’an and Tang Bingguo. Tang You’an wasn’t sure if this was how the original Tang You’an and her father had always been, or if the original Tang You’an had done something to upset her father, leading to this situation.
“Dad, want some fruit?” After thinking for a moment, Tang You’an reached out to move the apples in the fruit bowl.
“Mm.” Tang Bingguo nodded.
So Tang You’an picked up an apple, took out a fruit knife, pulled the trash can over, and started peeling it.
“You haven’t been bullying Xici recently, have you?” Tang Bingguo suddenly asked midway through.
“Of course not, I would never bully her,” Tang You’an quickly turned her head to say.
“That’s good,” Tang Bingguo nodded, “And work? Everything going smoothly?”
“It’s going well. Lately, many people have been asking me to act in their films, and there are all sorts of variety shows too. I can’t even turn them all down. The movie ‘Divine Sacrifice’ that Xici and I starred in has been submitted to film festivals. I don’t know if it will win any awards, but I’m looking forward to it. Overall, everything is slowly developing in a positive direction. Dad, don’t worry, I’ve grown up,” Tang You’an said with a gentle smile, looking every bit like a genuinely good child.
Hearing this, Tang Bingguo nodded and continued to stare at the chess program on TV.
Soon, lunch was ready. The four of them sat down together, filled their bowls, and began eating.
Midway through the meal, Tang Bingguo put some lotus root and chicken wings into Tang You’an and Song Xici’s bowls, saying with his usual serious expression, “These are your favorites. Eat more.”
“Thank you, Dad!” Song Xici smiled, holding her bowl.
“This lotus root is crunchy. Why wasn’t it stewed until soft? They like it soft,” Tang Bingguo muttered after biting into a piece of lotus root.
“If you’re so capable, you can stew it next time!” Pei Qiuyue put down her chopsticks and glared at him. “You just sit and wait for meals, yet you’re so picky.”
“Fine, I’ll stew it then,” Tang Bingguo glanced at her and took another bite of lotus root.
Tang You’an and Song Xici looked at each other while eating their rice, unable to hold back their smiles. They said in unison, “It all tastes good!”
After finishing this New Year’s Eve dinner, Tang You’an and Song Xici video called Lin Xing and Song Jianjun for a while. Then the family sat on the sofa watching the Spring Festival Gala while eating fruit and snacks.
When midnight arrived and the New Year’s bell rang on TV, the family got in the car and headed to the square where the government allowed fireworks and firecrackers.
Along the way, Tang You’an was visibly excited. Especially after reaching the square, when she set off fireworks with Tang Bingguo, she was like an eight-year-old child.
Every time a firework exploded, Tang You’an would open her mouth and exclaim “Wow!”, her eyes full of stars. Fortunately, it was winter, and everyone was bundled up like round balls. Unless someone was a die-hard fan or had particularly keen eyesight, they wouldn’t immediately recognize them.
Finally, Tang You’an took out some handheld sparklers, lit them, and gave them to Song Xici. She pulled Song Xici from one side to the other, then back again.
Song Xici waved the sparkler while smiling at her, then suddenly pulled down her mask and kissed Tang You’an on the cheek.
Tang You’an touched her own face, then smiled and leaned in, lowering her gaze and pulling down her mask to kiss Song Xici, interlocking their fingers.
Song Xici suddenly felt that this must be the most beautiful moment in life. She was glad she had been brave enough not to miss out on it.
As for Tang Bingguo, he followed behind them with his phone, constantly snapping pictures of the two.
By the time they got home and finished washing up, it was almost two in the morning.
While Tang You’an was taking a shower, Song Xici sat alone in a chair and opened their group chat with their three close friends, sending a “Happy New Year” message.
After that, Song Xici continued scrolling through Weibo and other apps. Suddenly, a notification popped up on her phone saying “Have you mastered these knowledge points that boost sexual interest?”
Unable to resist her curiosity, Song Xici glanced towards the bathroom before clicking on it.
How annoying, phones are too smart these days! They push related content based on what you’ve searched before… Never mind, let’s take a look…
It turned out to be a post with quite a lot of useful information, and it was also quite explicit and straightforward… almost like reading erotic literature. As she read, Song Xici started to feel… Come to think of it, how long had it been since they had done that, given how rarely they saw each other?
It had been quite a while… Suddenly remembering scenes of them being intimate, Song Xici felt herself becoming a bit strange.
Just then, the bathroom door opened. Hearing the sound, Song Xici quickly closed the page, pretending nothing had happened.
Tang You’an walked out with her freshly dried long hair hanging loose, wearing an oversized bathrobe that accentuated her slender wrists and thin frame.
“What’s wrong?” Seeing Song Xici looking at her, Tang You’an casually ran her long fingers through her hair and looked back.
As her hair fell back down after being pushed up, combined with her narrow, alluring eyes and beautiful hands, Song Xici felt her heart skip a beat.
“Nothing… nothing…” Song Xici fiddled with her phone, her mind a jumble of thoughts.
“Am I so captivating?” Tang You’an walked over, picked up a glass of water from the table, and took a sip.
“Shameless,” Song Xici glanced at her.
“Don’t tell me I guessed right?” Tang You’an put down the glass.
“Go away, I’ve never met anyone as narcissistic as you,” Song Xici said, then stood up and headed to the bathroom with her things.
Tang You’an watched her leave, smiling. She walked to the bed, flopped onto the soft mattress, and picked up her phone to send and reply to New Year’s greetings one by one, as well as post a Weibo wishing everyone a happy new year.
A while later, Song Xici finally came out.
“Why did it take so long?” Tang You’an put down her phone and looked at her.
“Did it? It wasn’t that long…” Song Xici sat on the bed, continuing to pat skincare products onto her face to help absorption. “What, can’t you bear to be without me for even a minute?”
“That’s right,” Tang You’an replied with a smile.
Song Xici’s lips curled into a smile upon hearing those words.
Just then, Tang You’an’s phone rang, so she picked it up again and started messaging someone.
This late at night, how can there still be so many messages to send? Song Xici turned her head to look at her, grumbling inwardly.
Lying down on the bed, Song Xici thought for a moment, then turned to her side, moving closer to Tang You’an and linking arms with her. “How much longer are you going to play on your phone?”
Tang You’an turned her head to look at Song Xici. “I’m just replying to some New Year’s greetings…”
“Oh…” Song Xici nodded, quietly breathing in Tang You’an’s scent as she watched her profile.
After a while, Song Xici slowly sat up, glanced at the phone in Tang You’an’s hand, and bit her lower lip before leaning softly onto her shoulder. “What’s more important, replying to messages or me?”
Hearing this question, Tang You’an turned her head and saw Song Xici’s beautiful, bare face, as well as… her slightly loose clothing that had slipped down, revealing a bit of her shoulder.
To be honest, Song Xici looked extremely alluring like this, like a delectable dessert that one would want to devour.
At that moment, Song Xici tugged at her collar, covering her shoulder again. Tang You’an’s gaze followed her movements the entire time.
“Alright. I’m done with them.” Tang You’an tossed her phone aside and turned to face Song Xici.
“Hey, why are you looking at me like that…” Song Xici averted her gaze. Whenever Tang You’an stared at her like that, Song Xici felt like her face was burning up.
“I can’t look at you?” Tang You’an asked.
“That’s right!” Song Xici nodded.
“Why…” Tang You’an moved closer, her gaze shifting from Song Xici’s eyes to her pink lips.
“There’s no reason, I just won’t let you look…” Song Xici turned her face away.
“Then, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Did you miss me?” Tang You’an gently held Song Xici’s small chin, gazing at her fair cheeks.
Due to their close proximity, Tang You’an’s warm breath washed over Song Xici as she spoke, surrounding her and making her heart flutter. Goosebumps rose on her skin.
“I did,” Song Xici said.
“In what way?” Tang You’an asked again.
“What other way could there be…” Song Xici mumbled.
“Did your body miss me?” Tang You’an questioned.
“Shameless! It didn’t!” Hearing that question, Song Xici’s entire body suddenly felt hot.
“Really?” Tang You’an said, then kissed her lips.
“Yes…” Song Xici had barely uttered a word before the rest was swallowed by another kiss.
Holding Song Xici’s shoulders, their lips and teeth clashed as Tang You’an’s tongue slid into her mouth, intertwining inseparably. Their heartbeats gradually quickened.
“You really didn’t miss me?” Leaving her lips, Tang You’an half-closed her eyes, inhaling the fresh scent of Song Xici’s hair near her ear as she slipped her hand under Song Xici’s clothes.
Song Xici’s shoulders shrank slightly, and her body involuntarily trembled when Tang You’an’s fingertips touched her skin.
Releasing her lower lip, Song Xici swallowed before saying, “No…”
“Since your upper lips won’t tell the truth, I’ll have to ask your lower ones…” As Tang You’an spoke, her palm pressed against Song Xici’s skin, slowly moving downward…
