No Alphas Allowed - C114

“What are you saying?”
“The prosecution has conducted a search and seizure.”
At the secretary’s words, Jeong Sehun slammed his desk hard. Just when he thought he was doing proper business with Taeil, this sudden search and seizure came like a bolt from the blue. It was exasperating to wonder what investigation had been launched and what evidence they were trying to obtain by doing this.
“They’ve also requested that you comply with a prosecution investigation.”
“Ha.”
He couldn’t grasp at all where things had gone wrong. Of course, there had been corruption committed while doing business, and he had paid considerable bribes to higher-ups. However, that was just a means to lead Michon forward, and something businessmen did, so Jeong Sehun wondered what exactly had been caught.
He was also curious about what had caused the issue to escalate all the way up to the prosecution.
However, upon appearing at the prosecution office, he realized the situation was more serious than expected. Although he had gone prepared, having figured out in advance why they were calling him and how to respond, the prosecution mocked Jeong Sehun’s efforts by presenting many shocking documents.
They hadn’t called Jeong Sehun for just one reason, but had dug up many incidents linked and intertwined like a string of sausages. After being thoroughly interrogated for a long time, Jeong Sehun returned to the company and immediately summoned his secretary and legal team.
Even after calling them, Jeong Sehun remained silent for a long while. Seeing the situation was more serious than expected, the secretary cautiously spoke up.
“Our legal team is doing their best, so…”
“No, we can’t escape everything right away.”
Someone had poked at Jeong Sehun’s corruption and was firmly holding onto evidence to prevent escape. Even if some charges were dismissed, it would be difficult to clear everything. Knowing this, the prosecution must be openly baring their teeth like this.
In the end, Jeong Sehun would inevitably end up in court, and it was clear that Michon would be significantly shaken. Jeong Sehun opened his mouth heavily, as if having made a decision.
“Transfer management rights to Hyun Yusoo. Even if I take them back later, I need to step down for now.”
“But if you transfer them right away, there will surely be problems.”
“If we hesitate, they’ll be taken away. It’s better to temporarily hand them over to someone before that happens.”
Hyena-like figures were always watching, ready to snatch Michon at any moment. In times like these, it was better to hand it over to family and then take it back later when things settled down. If his ex-wife hadn’t died and was still alive, he wouldn’t have made this decision. She wouldn’t have given back the management rights once she took them, not trusting Jeong Sehun. But Hyun Yusoo, who was without greed and went with the flow like water, was perfectly suited for this role.
“Michon must not be shaken by this incident.”
How could he miss this clear opportunity for Michon to grow significantly after joining hands with Taeil? Jeong Sehun instructed to handle it as quickly as possible, and the secretary and lawyers withdrew as if they had no choice.
A few days later, Jeong Sehun, having concluded by admitting to some charges, entered the house with a haggard face. Though he had only been at the company for a few days, he clicked his tongue seeing reporters camped out in front of his house, but knowing he absolutely couldn’t cause a disturbance, Jeong Sehun forcibly suppressed his boiling anger and entered the house.
“You’re home?”
“Where’s Hyun Yusoo?”
At the housekeeper’s greeting, Jeong Sehun immediately loosened his tie and asked for Hyun Yusoo first. He needed to explain the situation to him, who must be flustered after the sudden transfer of management rights. He was going to tell him the simple message to just stay still like a puppet and come down, but for some reason, the housekeeper didn’t answer easily.
“Well…”
“What is it?”
“He went out earlier and hasn’t come back yet.”
“When was that?”
With so many reporters camped outside right now, he went out? Sensing the sharpness in Jeong Sehun’s tone, the housekeeper continued the conversation, even more flustered than before.
“It’s been about 3 hours.”
“Where did he say he was going?”
“…He didn’t say. But it must be just a simple outing, he’ll be back soon.”
Having nothing more to say, the housekeeper wrapped up vaguely and left the place as if escaping. Left alone, Jeong Sehun reacted unpleasantly to Hyun Yusoo’s absence, turning his head left and right.
“He’s become lax while I was away.”
After showing him his son last time, he had been out of it for a while. Vowing to firmly get a grip on his mind this time, Jeong Sehun waited, but he didn’t get that chance.
***
Jeong Sehun, who always went about neatly, was now wandering around looking in all directions with bloodshot eyes. He was on the verge of going crazy because of Hyun Yusoo, who hadn’t been seen for days. During Hyun Yusoo’s absence, he hadn’t eaten or slept properly. Although he had been called to the prosecution and spent nights at the company, this was completely different. Having lost his composure, Jeong Sehun roughly rubbed his chapped lips while searching for Hyun Yusoo.
“Hyun Yusoo!”
Jeong Sehun who had spotted Hyun Yusoo shouted. As if it didn’t matter where this place was or who he was right now, Jeong Sehun stared at Hyun Yusoo with wide eyes. As if afraid he might disappear if he closed his eyes.
A man who had been walking stopped at Jeong Sehun’s loud call. He slowly turned around as if recognizing he had been called. It was indeed Hyun Yusoo. Jeong Sehun glared at him with eyes mixed with relief at finding Hyun Yusoo and displeasure towards him for daring to go out and not return.
Jeong Sehun approached quickly as if to grab Hyun Yusoo, missing everything that could have been noticed if he had been just a little calmer – that Hyun Yusoo was dressed neatly in a suit unlike his usual indoor clothes, and that this place was Taeil’s headquarters.
“Do not approach.”
“No further approach allowed.”
“What? What nonsense is this? Let go!”
Jeong Sehun glared at the two men blocking his way and tried to push them aside. His only thought was to remove these obstacles in the way of grabbing Hyun Yusoo immediately. However, the security guards did not back down from Jeong Sehun and instead firmly restrained both his arms to prevent him from going further.
“Let go of me!”
Though Jeong Sehun struggled desperately to break free from them, he was completely subdued and couldn’t escape easily. Moreover, there was a considerable difference between Jeong Sehun, who had spent days like a madman looking for Hyun Yusoo, and these two sturdy men. Hyun Yusoo was just staring at Jeong Sehun with emotionless eyes.
Unable to break free from them, Jeong Sehun gritted his teeth towards Hyun Yusoo. He realized that Hyun Yusoo was trying to leave him completely. Finally looking down at Hyun Yusoo’s attire, Jeong Sehun glared at him as if he would kill him.
“You… are you planning to abandon me, ME?”
Though his arms were completely restrained and he couldn’t approach Hyun Yusoo, Jeong Sehun glared as if he would grab him somehow. Faced with such an intimidating appearance, Hyun Yusoo, who would normally have been frightened, gazed at him calmly for some reason.
“I never had you from the beginning.”
“Never had me? I, I imprinted on you. The result of me wanting you was the imprint. And yet you…”
“Did I ask you to imprint on me?”
“…What?”
Jeong Sehun asked back in a somewhat weakened voice. What did Hyun Yusoo just say?
“Did I ever ask you to imprint on me? Or did I ask to live together? Did I say I wanted to have your child? What have I ever asked of you until now?”
“That’s…”
“It was all your emotions and your will. It was your intention alone, without any of my will involved at all.”
Realizing his voice was cracking slightly, Hyun Yusoo let out a long breath. Then, feeling that the excitement boiling inside him hadn’t completely disappeared, Hyun Yusoo walked towards Jeong Sehun for the first time. Jeong Sehun looked favorably at Hyun Yusoo approaching him. He thought the words just shouted were simply an expression of hurt feelings.
“I knew you’d come to me. Of course, without me you’d— ack.”
As if to correct Jeong Sehun’s misunderstanding, Hyun Yusoo roughly grabbed his tie. He had always grabbed him like this. Without any consideration, to the point where it felt humiliating, as if they weren’t even the same humans.
“If you had really wanted me, if you had loved me, you should have tried to win my heart.”
Hyun Yusoo gripped Jeong Sehun’s tie tightly as if to strangle him. The time he had been forcibly held by him flashed before his eyes like a kaleidoscope. Now Hyun Yusoo would live the rest of his life longing for his youth that would never return. It was all because of Jeong Sehun. Jeong Sehun had ruined his life.
“If you had embraced and loved me… I wouldn’t have closed my heart to you.”
When he first met Jeong Sehun, Hyun Yusoo had felt a faint attraction to his handsome appearance and pheromones. He had soon forgotten since they had no relation, but if Jeong Sehun had shown his interest, saying he liked him, and acted kindly, Hyun Yusoo’s heart might have wavered.
But Jeong Sehun had treated him carelessly and acted forcefully.
“You ruined everything.”
Hyun Yusoo cut off his ties with Jeong Sehun in one stroke. This must have been what Taeyun meant when he said he would meet Jeong Sehun once. Having spoken his mind clearly, Hyun Yusoo let go of Jeong Sehun’s tie without regret. Then he slowly moved away from him.
Realizing that Hyun Yusoo was trying to cut him off completely, Jeong Sehun sank to the ground as if his heart had been struck. Though his arms were held by the security guards, they didn’t support his body as it collapsed helplessly.
“Don’t do this. Please… don’t abandon me.”
Jeong Sehun reached out towards Hyun Yusoo. Seeing that hand, Hyun Yusoo brushed off his clothes as if nothing had happened. And as he looked at Jeong Sehun with emotionless eyes, a man stepped between them.
Jeong Sehun raised his head to see who was blocking Hyun Yusoo. And when he met Taeyun’s amused eyes, Jeong Sehun realized whose hand had caused all of this.
Taeyun kindly bent one leg to meet Jeong Sehun’s eyes. As if to comfort the pitiful man abandoned by Hyun Yusoo, Taeyun lightly patted his shoulder.
“You’ve properly felt what it’s like to have my omega disappear. Terrible, isn’t it?”
I did it, Taeyun’s voice, audible only to Jeong Sehun, was full of the satisfaction of paying back for what had happened before.
“Suho is waiting. Shall we go?”
“Yes.”
Jeong Sehun couldn’t take his eyes off Hyun Yusoo’s back as he turned away from him. Unable to even blink as he stared at him, his eyes hurt as if stinging. His eyes, his heart ached. The world was betraying him.
