No Alphas Allowed - C110
#110
Taeyun carefully explained the story between himself and Jeong Sehun. How they met by chance at the founding party, and how his suspicions grew as the rumors he heard overlapped with what Senior had told him.
“I found out they were your parents, and I went to the cafe on the festival day because I wanted to know more details.”
So that’s why he sought out Secretary Lee Jinhyuk. Suho nodded as the puzzle pieces fell into place. Watching Suho’s expression, Taeyun cautiously spoke up.
“Did you happen to overhear that conversation? I mean, when we were talking about your parents…”
When Suho disappeared, Secretary Lee Jinhyuk had brought up that day’s conversation, wondering if maybe… So Taeyun couldn’t let it go, thinking it might have been the cause. He was prepared to clearly express his wrongdoing, no matter what Suho said.
“That time…”
Suho tilted his head, thinking back to that day. It wasn’t difficult to recall. Taeyun had appeared like a gift at the festival, and when he said he was hungry, Suho had fed him a meal he prepared himself. Then when Taeyun said he had to go to the cafe, Suho had just gone along with him, not knowing they would talk about him.
At the time, he had just vacated his seat feeling he shouldn’t listen, and though he had stepped out briefly, he had come back right away. He might have heard snippets of conversation in between, but he seemed to have dismissed it as unimportant.
Should it have played out dramatically, with him overhearing some conversation by chance and the atmosphere turning serious? But it was impossible to connect the dots from just a few words heard fleetingly in passing.
“I didn’t hear it. I stepped out briefly, but it looked serious so I came right back in.”
“Haa.”
Taeyun sighed and rested his forehead on Suho’s shoulder.
“I was worried that maybe you had heard the conversation then and were keeping it to yourself.”
“Oh.”
Suho wondered if it was something worth keeping to himself. Well, normally people can’t just let it go when others are talking about them. But it wasn’t particularly bad-mouthing him, so there wasn’t really anything to dwell on.
“Even if I had heard it then, I don’t think I would have thought much of it. He’s someone you can find if you search online, so I didn’t think it needed to be hidden. I just didn’t say much because our ties were cut, so I didn’t want you to worry.”
Suho said, gently stroking the back of Taeyun’s head. It’s not like talking about it would reconnect the severed ties, and there was no particular reason to reveal that he was the president of Michon.
“If that’s the case, you should have mentioned the time when you guys were gossiping about me, saying I was avoiding alphas and whatnot.”
“Ugh.”
He was referring to the time when students from the same year had gathered and talked about Suho. To be precise, Taeyun had just been sitting there that day, and had only revealed that Suho was listening, but Suho deliberately brought up that incident.
“That was wrong of me.”
“Strictly speaking, you didn’t bad-mouth me, and I was also being rude to others, so it’s okay.”
Though Suho spoke generously, mentioning it without forgetting made Taeyun laugh awkwardly. It seemed like the day he would fully understand Senior’s mind would never come. Feeling sorry about that day when he was forcibly dragged out, Taeyun tightly hugged Suho’s waist and nuzzled his forehead.
“If I had known it would be like this, I should have not hidden anything from you, Senior.”
“That’s right. If you had told me, it wouldn’t have turned out like this. That was your fault.”
He felt regretful that at least they could have avoided being used by his alpha father. Though Suho’s emotions must have been clearly conveyed, Taeyun didn’t seem upset at all. Rather, feeling him grinning, Suho pushed Taeyun’s forehead away.
“How can you laugh after being fooled like an idiot?”
“It’s okay even if I get fooled again and again. Well, it’s not like there’s no way out…”
Taeyun’s meaningful words at the end were swept away by the wind.
“It’s your turn now, Senior.”
Taeyun naturally passed the baton to Suho. Holding Suho tightly, Taeyun looked down at him with warm eyes. Having finished talking about Suho’s parents, he now waited for Suho to speak.
As Taeyun’s gaze became increasingly burdensome, Suho pushed his chin away.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Don’t you have something to tell me, Senior?”
“Did I leave something with you?”
“You said you’d tell me. You said you’d tell me after the exams, you haven’t forgotten already, have you?”
Taeyun firmly held Suho’s waist, determined not to let go of him. This naturally made Suho lean back, but Taeyun safely supported him so he wouldn’t fall.
“Tell me quickly. I’ve been waiting and getting all worked up, you’re not planning to completely burn me up, are you?”
“That… I was going to tell you anyway.”
At Suho’s sign of surrender, Taeyun’s smile deepened. Taeyun quietly held Suho’s waist, waiting for him to speak.
“At least this position…”
Suho tried one last time to stall, but unable to resist Taeyun’s pressure, he finally spoke up. Of course, lacking the courage to directly see Taeyun’s reaction, he slightly lowered his eyes.
“I’m pregnant.”
“…”
Not hearing any response from Taeyun, Suho felt increasingly anxious. He couldn’t tell without looking at Taeyun’s face whether he was too shocked to speak or if there was another reason.
Finally, when Suho slightly raised his gaze to look at Taeyun, his mouth fell open at his unexpected expression.
“…Why are you smiling?”
After telling such serious news.
“No, more than that, aren’t you surprised?”
Suho examined Taeyun’s expression as if something was strange. There was no sign of surprise anywhere on his face. Rather, it seemed more accurate to say he had been waiting for Suho to tell him.
“…Did you know?”
“It’s not that I knew, more like I suspected?”
“How?”
“I was thinking about when you started acting strange, and the hospital kept coming up. So I went there and…”
Even if he went, it was a rule not to casually disclose patient information. So when Taeyun just said he went and trailed off, now it was Suho’s turn to urge him on.
“You went and what?”
“I happened to meet the doctor nearby.”
The doctor had recognized Taeyun right away, he said. After just saying they had a brief conversation, Taeyun closed his mouth, and Suho lightly hit his arm. His tendency to hold back words was starting to get annoying.
“Is that all?”
“That’s all.”
Though it was a separate matter that Taeyun had coffee with him, asking after his well-being and forming a new acquaintance.
“I didn’t particularly ask him to talk about you, Senior.”
He had just pretended to know everything and gotten hints.
“The doctor told me to comfort you well because you must be very troubled? He said your mood could change dozens of times a day, and you would be even more so. He also told me to take good care of your meals, and since he heard you have a primary care physician, to look after you very carefully.”
The doctor had only expressed concern for Suho.
“I came running while wondering what could make your mood change dozens of times.”
And he had confirmed what he suspected through Suho’s own words. So strictly speaking, Taeyun hadn’t known right away. Anyway, now that he knew the reason for not being surprised, Suho no longer pushed Taeyun away.
“So how do you feel now that I’ve told you I’m pregnant?”
“I’m happy.”
“Happy?”
Suho asked again, seeing Taeyun’s light smile. It was to the point where he wondered if Taeyun had properly understood that he was pregnant. Noticing Suho’s puzzled look, Taeyun brushed back his hair and whispered affectionately.
“I’ll take responsibility. For both you and the baby.”
At the answer that came so easily, Suho felt resistance and pushed him away. If it had been a decision made after some deliberation and difficulty, he would have accepted Taeyun’s opinion, even if his heart had been in suspense for that time. But seeing Taeyun answer in one breath as if there was no need to think, Suho ended up stopping him instead.
“You shouldn’t answer so easily.”
“There’s nothing difficult about this problem.”
“You’re still a college student. I could end up holding you back.”
Suho instead listed reasons why Taeyun should refuse. He was still young, and Taeyun was a dominant alpha. He could meet a better omega than Suho, who had presented late. Not only that, but Taeyun’s family probably wouldn’t welcome him either. While endless reasons for Taeyun to refuse came to Suho’s mind, Taeyun was acting as if none of it mattered.
Hoping Taeyun would think more deeply, Suho distanced himself from him. Then he held out his hand towards Taeyun, who was trying to approach.
“Think about it again. If it’s because of responsibility, you don’t have to take all the responsibility. I don’t want to be with you like that.”
“It’s not because of responsibility. Senior, I might go crazy without you.”
Taeyun, sensing something was off about the conversation, belatedly erased his smile. Then, after thinking with a complicated expression, he finally seemed to feel frustrated and roughly messed up his hair.
“The order is wrong.”
“That’s right. Let’s think about it one by one carefully.”
“I didn’t choose you because of the baby, I love you and find you so adorable. So please marry me.”
Surprised by Taeyun’s confession, Suho inhaled sharply. His heart was beating faster than when Taeyun had first said he liked him. Was he doing this now because of the pregnancy news?
Suho forcibly tried to change his thoughts, attempting to calm his racing heart. While doing so, intending to tell Taeyun what kind of future this current choice might bring later, he started speaking without thinking.
“If you’re swayed by your current emotions, what will you do later? If you come to dislike me, even if you regret it, you can’t turn back…”
“I’ve imprinted on you.”
“…What?”
