No Alphas Allowed - C106
#106
“Taeil, that’s too overwhelming a name.”
Hyun Yusoo clicked his tongue at the name of a company incomparable to Michon. He thought there was nothing more surprising than his son becoming an omega, but Taeil was truly unexpected. No wonder Jeong Sehun had suddenly brought him here to show Suho.
As things fell into place like puzzle pieces, Hyun Yusoo harbored one suspicion. Even excluding Jeong Sehun and Taeil, Suho was originally supposed to live as a beta. The fact that he presented late due to an alpha’s pheromones felt too unsettling to simply accept.
“Are you sure that ‘accident’ really happened by chance?”
Moreover, he said he became lovers with the very person who was essentially the cause of his presentation. Hyun Yusoo’s face grew serious as he looked at Suho. If someone had deliberately caused such an accident, if they had made Suho present as an omega to possess him – along with other anxious assumptions that came to mind.
He himself had been trapped living with Jeong Sehun after becoming an omega. Though he still hated Jeong Sehun, his imprint had completely taken hold of Hyun Yusoo’s life and wouldn’t let go.
Thinking that his child might experience the same life, Hyun Yusoo’s expression grew heavier. As Suho’s suffering expression overlaid his own life, he naturally fell into dark fantasies. A life trapped forever, unable to go where he wanted, everything oppressed…
“Father.”
The hand shaking his clothes woke Hyun Yusoo. When he came to his senses, Suho’s eyes were looking at him with concern. After examining Hyun Yusoo’s face and meeting his eyes again, Suho shook his head slightly. He looked at Hyun Yusoo as if his story wasn’t finished yet.
Suho showed busy movements, staring out the window for a moment as if wondering how to explain, then looking at the ground. Seeing the child who always quietly looked at the ground now moving so restlessly, Hyun Yusoo’s eyes widened roundly as if forgetting his earlier serious emotions.
Seeing Hyun Yusoo’s confused expression, which made him look even younger than his age, Suho smiled awkwardly and cautiously opened his mouth.
“When I became an omega, I was very desperate. To exaggerate a bit, I felt like the sky was falling.”
Of course, the sky was supposed to be supporting him from above, but it felt like that world was crumbling. The feeling of that moment when he thought everything had changed and his life was over still felt etched in his bones, unforgotten. At that time, Suho had been plunged into despair stemming from shock rather than the heat rising from his body.
He couldn’t become an omega. In a way, the reason he thought that was because of the omega father right in front of him. For Suho, who had grown up watching what he went through, the life of an omega was a hopeless hell.
Suho spoke of those feelings while gauging Hyun Yusoo’s reaction. He didn’t say where that sadness came from, but Hyun Yusoo’s expression was growing serious. It had been bad since Suho said he didn’t want to present as an omega, but now he looked pale as if about to collapse.
Seeing even Hyun Yusoo’s lips lose color, Suho quickly added:
“But my lover, the one who made me become an omega, helped me and confessed to me. I didn’t dislike him either, so we started dating.”
He said this to clear up the misunderstanding that he had been deliberately made an omega. However, Suho’s eyes wavered anxiously, feeling he might have touched on a painful part of Hyun Yusoo. He was still living with the alpha father, after all. Worrying that his words might have hurt him more, Suho’s hands fidgeted, scratching at the sofa.
However, contrary to Suho’s concerns, Hyun Yusoo’s expression was gradually improving. Though he hadn’t fully regained his color, he no longer looked like he was about to collapse. Having calmly settled his emotions, Hyun Yusoo closed and opened his eyes before answering.
“That’s a relief.”
At Hyun Yusoo’s words, spoken with a faint smile, Suho showed a bewildered look. He hadn’t said anything particularly good for his omega father’s sake, so it was an unexpected response. Belatedly looking at Hyun Yusoo’s face, Suho felt that he was genuinely okay with it.
Noticing Suho’s reaction, Hyun Yusoo let out a small but pleasant laugh. He wasn’t the omega father who had looked at him as if raising a child he couldn’t kill.
“I’m glad at least you’re doing well.”
At Hyun Yusoo’s sincere words, Suho, who had been scratching the sofa, stared blankly at his face in surprise. He had never received any affection from his father until now. Hearing such a warm voice surprised him.
Though he felt sorry towards Taeyun, he had come without hesitation at the mere mention of being able to see his omega father. Becoming an omega himself and even getting pregnant made him want to see him even more. He could return to Taeyun, who would be waiting for him, anytime, but this might be his only chance to see his omega father.
Even though he hadn’t shared even a grain of affection, Suho couldn’t completely cut ties with him. Though he had only treated him indifferently and never gave him a glance, Suho couldn’t forget the warmth of the home where he lived with his omega father. He had just wanted to see him without expecting anything, but at this unexpected response, Suho’s heart began to beat rapidly.
As Suho couldn’t hide his flustered appearance, Hyun Yusoo sighed for who knows how many times today. He felt it was time to reveal the secret he had kept like his life until now. This meeting with Suho would be an unforgettable gift for Hyun Yusoo.
“I never disliked you.”
Hyun Yusoo looked at Suho’s hand resting quietly. Though he had grown bigger than himself, it still looked small to him, like a child’s hand.
“If he knew I wanted to keep you, I thought he would throw you away.”
“Fa…ther?”
Hyun Yusoo very carefully reached out towards Suho’s hand that he had been looking at. It was the cherished hand he had only gently caressed when Suho was asleep. It was warm and soft. At Hyun Yusoo’s brave action, Suho blankly left his hand to him, unable to do anything.
“When I realized he had imprinted on me, I wanted to die. He took away my life and formed a one-sided imprint. The only way to get revenge on him was for me to die.”
Hyun Yusoo spoke of his most desperate moment. Though it was still painful to think about that time, it wasn’t so much today, not while holding Suho’s hand.
“That’s when I found out I was pregnant with you.”
Hyun Yusoo caressed Suho’s hand and then, gathering a bit more courage, moved his hand towards Suho’s face. It was an even more careful touch than when he held his hand, just about to touch Suho’s cheek.
“Weren’t you resentful of carrying the child of someone you hated?”
That’s why he thought he was disliked. He had thought so until he left home, but now that his omega father was saying such unexpected things, Suho found himself asking first.
At Suho’s question, a thin layer of moisture appeared in Hyun Yusoo’s eyes. He shook his head with a gentle smile, seemingly not at all hurt by Suho’s question.
“It didn’t matter at all that you were his bloodline. You warmed my body and comforted my loneliness. I just liked you for who you were.”
“Father…”
“No matter how much I hated him, how could I hate you too? It was because of you that I clung to this life so desperately.”
Hearing Hyun Yusoo’s sincerity, Suho took his hand and pressed it to his face. As he closed his eyes, Hyun Yusoo’s hand moved on his cheek, accompanied by the sound of his laughter. Feeling the warmth he had always longed for, Suho let out a long breath.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t push you away sooner. My selfishness made you grow up lonely in that place.”
“I’m fine.”
“How could you be fine? Look how much healthier and better you look now that you’re away from me.”
“That’s…”
Being with Taeyun made him eat better and discover the joy of eating. As if understanding Suho’s silence, Hyun Yusoo guessed with laughter in his voice.
“You said that boy treats you well now, right?”
“Yes. He always looks out for me, makes things fun, and even throws tantrums well.”
Suho blurted out whatever came to mind as he thought of Taeyun. He never forgets to bring coffee every day and takes even better care of meals. Then when Suho eats a meal he made, he begs him to make it again saying it’s delicious, and pouts when Suho refuses to go out.
“He’s childlike, but sometimes he acts more grown-up than me.”
Taeyun always easily accomplished things Suho found difficult. Seeing that, he didn’t feel like Taeyun was two years younger.
“Since meeting Taeyun, I don’t know how the days pass.”
Suho, who had been rambling on about various things, belatedly realized he had only talked about himself. He felt sorry, as if he was bragging about how sweet his romance was.
“I’m sorry enough to have doubted that child.”
“That’s because I didn’t explain in detail.”
“Right, we have plenty of time.”
Knowing that they would not be interrupted by anyone for at least today, Hyun Yusoo slightly relaxed the tension in his shoulders. He wanted to love Suho to his heart’s content until Jeong Sehun came.
“You said his name is Taeyun?”
“Kwon Taeyun.”
“That’s a familiar name.”
Hyun Yusoo, who had recently attended Taeil’s founding party, recalled that day. However, in contrast to Hyun Yusoo who had become relatively calm, this time Suho’s expression began to waver.
At his father’s words that they had plenty of time and should talk about how things had been, Suho remembered that he hadn’t yet said the most important thing.
Noticing the change in Suho’s expression, Hyun Yusoo grabbed his shoulder.
“Suho?”
“…There’s something I haven’t told you yet.”
Suho closed his mouth and then uttered something even heavier than before.
“I’m pregnant.”
