No Alphas Allowed - C105
#105
Suho left Seoul with Jeong Sehun in a car. During the hours in the car, not knowing where they were headed, Taeyun occasionally contacted him, and each time, Jeong Sehun watched to see if Suho answered the phone.
Jeong Sehun set only one condition in exchange for letting Suho meet Hyun Yusoo: not to answer any of Taeyun’s calls.
Suho knew Taeyun would look for him, but he found it difficult to refuse Jeong Sehun’s offer. It wasn’t that he still had special feelings for his omega father, but he wanted to see him one last time, just once.
Like his omega father, he had presented as an omega and was now carrying Taeyun’s child. Because of this, Suho accepted Jeong Sehun’s offer, wanting to meet his father once and have a conversation.
“…Where’s father?”
Suho quickly looked around the room and turned to ask Jeong Sehun.
“Wait here.”
Jeong Sehun answered coldly and closed the door. Suho quickly approached, as he wasn’t finished speaking, but the door had already closed, cutting off the space between him and Jeong Sehun. Suho took a step back and looked to the side. There was a card inserted, so he wasn’t completely locked in, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave.
If he left here, it felt like the meeting with his father would fall through. After contemplating for a moment, Suho eventually lacked the courage to go outside and entered the room.
Opening the curtains to look outside, Suho couldn’t react to the view of the beach filling his sight. After sitting in the car for hours, they had finally come down to a place with a beach. He didn’t know why Jeong Sehun had come so far, but Suho quietly followed his instructions.
He thought the occasional signposts along the way looked somewhat familiar, and incredibly, it was the same beach he had visited with Taeyun. He didn’t know if it was a coincidence or if this too was information his alpha father had uncovered. However, watching the ceaseless waves seemed to alleviate his anxiety about being separated from Taeyun just a little.
Suho sat in a chair and looked at the sea. Perhaps because they arrived at a similar time as when they came for a day trip, memories from then flowed in like a tide.
‘Taeyun must be finding this strange by now.’
Suho had never ignored his calls like this before. Moreover, their last phone call had ended warmly, enveloping each other’s feelings, but things had taken an odd turn.
‘Where did it go wrong?’
He knew something was wrong when his alpha father, whom he thought he’d never see again in his life, appeared. However, Suho couldn’t grasp where it all began. The alpha father he knew wasn’t someone who would show any interest in him. Unless they met by chance, he was the type who wouldn’t care whether Suho lived or died.
But not only did he suddenly appear, he also knew about Suho’s relationship with Taeyun. He spoke as if he knew Taeyun well, making Suho wonder if he had discovered his existence by chance while the two were in contact. Whatever the case, with no one to explain things clearly, Suho could only squeeze his clothes a few times in frustration.
Once he met his father, he would go straight to Taeyun. Otherwise, Taeyun might go around looking for him…
***
He didn’t know when he had fallen asleep. The window was slightly open, letting in the sound of waves, and he had just been listening to it with his eyes closed. Unaware that his pregnant body tired easily, Suho lifted his heavy eyelids.
“…”
Noticing something swaying in front of him, Suho reached out before even identifying what it was. As he did so, whatever was moving away from Suho was caught and stopped moving.
As Suho blinked, his blurry focus gradually sharpened. Realizing that what he was holding was someone’s clothes, Suho’s gaze slowly moved upward.
“…Father.”
It was Hyun Yusoo, his omega father who had given birth to him. Seeing that face after so long, Suho stared blankly, unable to react otherwise. It was different from meeting his alpha father. Seeing again the face he had seen daily before suddenly cutting ties, an emotion welled up from deep in his chest.
While Suho found his alpha father endlessly frightening and dislikeable, he always felt regret towards his omega father. Even if he disliked the alpha father, couldn’t he have shared even a grain of affection with the child he had carried and given birth to?
Because Suho’s world was filled only with his omega father, his neglect felt even more bitter. Though he didn’t show affection, he was the one who had raised Suho minimally while living in the same house. Although Suho had grown up practically neglected, he had survived critical moments thanks to his omega father’s care.
When he heard the alpha father tell him to leave, the loneliness of being left alone in the world was due to parting with his omega father. Even though he hadn’t loved Suho.
As his eyes began to sting, Suho immediately lowered his head. There was no point in showing tears here; his omega father wouldn’t react anyway. He would still treat Suho like a burden, so Suho didn’t want to emotionally burden him unnecessarily. However, once shaken, his emotions weren’t easily controlled.
Meanwhile, Hyun Yusoo looked flustered as he read the longing for him in Suho’s expression. When he entered the room and found Suho sleeping, Hyun Yusoo had quietly approached and endlessly gazed at the face of his son whom he was meeting after so long.
Seeing that he had matured even more than when he left home and gained some weight, as if he had eaten well, Hyun Yusoo felt he had made the right decision in sending him away. His face, brightly revealed thanks to his neatly cut hair, looked good, and even his clean clothes made Suho look completely different.
Because of Jeong Sehun, who despite having much didn’t want to give anything to Suho, Hyun Yusoo had passed down his own clothes. However, as Suho grew bigger than him, seeing his clothes reach only to Suho’s wrists and ankles, there were many times Hyun Yusoo shed tears of guilt.
But now, seeing him lacking nothing, Hyun Yusoo couldn’t help but feel proud of Suho who seemed to have lived well on his own. As that emotion built up, Hyun Yusoo carefully reached out his hand towards Suho’s face.
Wanting to touch his child, he ignored the possibility that Suho might wake up and reached out. He thought that even if Suho woke, he could quickly move away, but Suho reacted faster than he expected, and he couldn’t avoid it in time.
Seeing Suho getting choked up at the sight of him, Hyun Yusoo also had to forcibly suppress the emotions welling up. He needed to act coldly now, as if he had completely cut ties, but his eyes kept filling with longing for Suho, which was a big problem.
Hyun Yusoo first tried to shake off the hand that had grabbed him. However, the moment he touched Suho’s hand, his body strangely lost strength and he couldn’t push Suho away. Though he had already cut ties with this child by his own hand, meeting again made it increasingly difficult to hide his feelings.
In the end, unable to shake off Suho’s hand and barely holding back tears, Hyun Yusoo sat back down.
“Why on earth did you meet that person again?”
Hyun Yusoo’s words, similar to a rebuke, fortunately helped Suho regain his composure. Suho blinked away his tears and roughly wiped his eyes. Meanwhile, Hyun Yusoo spoke again in a reproachful tone.
“It’s been so long since we decided to cut ties completely, so how did this happen?”
Hyun Yusoo had first persuaded Jeong Sehun to send Suho away. Though he hadn’t been able to properly care for him, he thought it would be better than being under Jeong Sehun’s surveillance. Suho quickly understood the meaning from Hyun Yusoo’s brief question.
“I don’t know either. From what I can guess, it’s because of… my lover, rather than me.”
“Lover?”
Hyun Yusoo’s eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected word. Suho’s hand was still holding onto his clothes, but both seemed to have forgotten about it as neither mentioned it. Seeing Hyun Yusoo’s surprised expression, Suho silently nodded.
“I have someone I’m dating.”
It was absurd that the first thing he said upon meeting was that he had a lover, but that’s how the situation had flowed. After a moment’s hesitation, Suho told Hyun Yusoo about what had happened.
He revealed concisely but without hiding anything that he had gone to the hospital after hearing something was wrong in the military, that he was told his trait could change due to an alpha’s pheromones, and that he had received help from an alpha to avoid becoming an omega but ended up presenting due to an accidental incident.
Originally, when the alpha father wasn’t around, Hyun Yusoo didn’t cut off Suho’s words prematurely. Not that he gave any answers either, but still.
Suho thought he might just listen silently this time too, but surprisingly, Hyun Yusoo let out a deep sigh and opened his mouth.
“It’s unexpected that you became an omega.”
To think the child he thought would live as a beta had become an omega. Only then did Hyun Yusoo realize that the strange scent he had been feeling was Suho’s pheromones, and he closed his eyes, feeling distant. He had lived without knowing such a thing had happened to Suho. Secretly suppressing the urge to hear more details, Hyun Yusoo changed the subject.
“What does that have to do with him seeking you out?”
“It seems my alpha father is interested in my lover’s, that is, Taeyun’s family.”
“Which family is it that…”
“…Taeil.”
At the name larger than he had imagined, Hyun Yusoo squeezed his eyes shut.
