- Chapter 11: Why Can You Call Her by Her Name Directly
“What?”
Chen Wenjin stared at Rita, his eyes wide open. Oh, he couldn’t actually see Rita’s eyes, so how was she perceiving the world with her eyes smiling like that?
“Did I imagine it just now?”
He didn’t care about their actual relationship at the moment and reached out to grab Rita’s arm.
“Could you say it again? I want to hear it again.”
“Captain Chen Wenjin, how can you ask a girl to say such a thing again? There’s no reason for a girl to repeat those words.”
The curve of Rita’s mouth, which was already raised, grew even wider. She was very satisfied with Chen Wenjin’s reaction. It seemed that Chen Wenjin wasn’t like her; he wasn’t a time traveler. His earlier reactions were genuine.
However, looking at Captain’s current expression, it seemed that he wasn’t entirely accepting of what she had just said.
Well, maybe she had rushed things a bit.
Rita took a moment to calm down. Thinking about it from Chen Wenjin’s perspective, if the one whose time had been reversed was Captain, and she, like the current Captain, knew nothing about the future, and one day Captain suddenly stood in front of her and called her ‘Rita, my wife’ or something, she probably wouldn’t pay it any attention.
Of course, if Captain were to call her ‘Rita, my wife’ right now, she would definitely be overjoyed.
But Rita knew that this kind of thing couldn’t be rushed. Emotions had to be nurtured slowly. Fortunately, Captain had already agreed to let her stay in the Immortal Blade. She had also slightly lowered Captain’s image in front of Alvitr. As long as it wasn’t one of the Valkyries in the Third Squad showing interest in Captain, she had plenty of time.
As for how Captain Chen Wenjin ended up on Hyperion in 2016.
Captain was already in the Immortal Blade, so did he even have a chance to go to Hyperion?
Once Otto completely eliminated the Honkai, then she could start thinking about marriage.
In just a few seconds, Rita had already made plans for the future in her mind.
“As for whether it’s true or not, that’s something Captain Chen Wenjin needs to judge for himself.”
It seems she was just teasing him.
Chen Wenjin breathed a sigh of relief. If Rita had said it was true, he would have asked, “Is it okay if I call you Rita, my wife?” Thankfully, Rita didn’t say that.
“Hahaha.”
Chen Wenjin chuckled.
“Miss Rita, this joke isn’t funny. If Durandal hears about it, I might be in trouble.”
Who in the Immortal Blade didn’t know that Rita and Durandal were good friends? If what Rita had just said got out, whether it was true or not, Durandal would come looking for trouble.
Dealing with the most powerful Valkyrie was beyond his capabilities.
“?”
Then he saw Rita’s smile suddenly disappear from her face.
Her eyes, which had been squinted, widened.
Her crimson eyes stared at him unblinkingly.
A vague aura of killing intent slowly emanated from Rita’s body, but it didn’t focus entirely on Chen Wenjin, so he only felt a slight change in the temperature around him.
His attention was completely captivated by the sudden opening of Rita’s crimson eyes.
(What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong again? I thought Rita and Durandal were good friends. I think what I said was correct!)
“Captain Chen Wenjin, you keep saying ‘Durandal’…”
“Miss Durandal, I just thought there were too many words, so I omitted ‘Miss.’ I’ll be more careful next time.”
Rita: “…”
What does what I said have to do with Miss Durandal? And why can you call Miss Durandal by her name directly but need to add an honorific when it comes to me?
She pursed her lips, unable to say what she had originally intended.
“Beep…”
Rita’s communicator beeped, and she pouted slightly, taking a few steps back before turning around to open the communicator.
Chen Wenjin leaned in, trying to listen, but he couldn’t make out anything. He could only hear a few scattered bytes of Rita’s voice.
Something about the West, and Honkai… Combining it with his limited knowledge of the Honkai world, it seemed that there might be some Honkai phenomenon happening in Siberia again. After the second Honkai Eruption, the environment in Siberia had become even more hostile, with occasional small-scale honkai beast attacks. The already impoverished people of Siberia were now even more destitute.
It seemed that Rita was going out on a mission again…
Wait, a mission?
Suddenly, Chen Wenjin remembered the task he still had pending in his system: assist Rita in completing the next mission and receive a tenfold reward.
Chen Wenjin’s eyes lit up, and he immediately sat up straight.
Rita quickly finished her communication and turned back, tilting her head to look at Chen Wenjin, blinking her eyes.
“What’s with the sudden straight posture?”
“Miss Rita, did Otto assign you a mission?” Chen Wenjin patted his chest. “Is there anything I can help with?”
Seeing Chen Wenjin’s enthusiasm, Rita couldn’t help but sigh.
Captain didn’t even have basic combat abilities. How could he possibly be of help?
“Captain Chen Wenjin, during this time, focus on studying with Alvitr. This is a simple mission, but it’s dangerous for you in your current state, considering you only have Honkai adaptability.”
“Oh, right.”
Chen Wenjin scratched his head. Rita did make some sense.
Well, he should think about these things after he draws a weapon. Once he and Alvitr learned long-range support, that should count as helping Rita with her missions, right?
Rita cleared the dining table, opened the door to her dorm, and Chen Wenjin stood up from the sofa, walking to the doorway to bid her farewell.
Rita suddenly felt a little better. She waved and turned to walk toward her dorm.
As she walked, she noticed a member of the Immortal Blade’s Third Squad standing on the side of the road, looking at her with shock.
