My straight roommate is so good - Chapter 41
The next morning, Qiao Song returned to Lan city by high-speed rail.
As he walked out of the station, his eyes immediately caught sight of Ling Jianshu standing among the crowd.
The anxiety and pain from the previous night still lingered in his heart, but the moment he saw him, all his worries vanished. Without hesitation, he rushed towards him and tightly embraced him. Then, he tilted his head up and gently kissed his lips.
Ling Jianshu had only intended to act a little cold to get Qiao Song’s attention, but he hadn’t expected him to be so passionate and take the initiative. This unexpected kiss left him momentarily stunned.
Unable to hide his feelings any longer, he responded to his kiss with full force, completely disregarding the bustling crowd around them.
Their lips and tongues intertwined, their breathing becoming more rapid and heated. This kiss seemed to hold all the longing and affection between them, making it impossible to resist.
After a long time, they finally pulled away from each other’s lips. Qiao Song’s cheeks were flushed, his eyes slightly dazed.
“Qiao Qiao, you missed me that much?” Ling Jianshu asked softly, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Qiao Song lightly nodded and, with a hoarse but firm voice, replied, “Mm, I missed you a lot.”
“Ling Brother, I’ve been busy with training and the competition lately, and I haven’t been able to talk to you as much. Are you mad at me?” Qiao Song asked cautiously, a hint of worry in his eyes.
Ling Jianshu shook his head, his voice calm. “No, don’t overthink it.”
He frowned slightly, his tone carrying a touch of grievance. “Then why were you so cold to me during the video call yesterday?”
Ling Jianshu couldn’t help but chuckle, replying with a low laugh, “Because I figured it would make you think of me more.”
Qiao Song bit his lip, feeling both annoyed and sweet at the same time. “If that was your goal… then congratulations, you succeeded. I really did miss you.”
Having gotten the result he wanted, Ling Jianshu pulled him even closer and gently said, “Qiao Qiao, I missed you too.”
There seemed to be a subtle shift in the relationship between them. They hadn’t officially gotten together, but they were certainly closer than before.
Soon, Lan city University’s annual sports meet arrived.
In the past, students signed up for events based on their respective departments, but this year, the organizing committee had a novel idea: competitions would be organized by dormitory units.
Other than Ling Jianshu, the rest of the roommates in dorm 603 were not athletic at all. Therefore, the only official event they participated in was the 3000-meter run, for which Ling Jianshu had signed up.
However, the sports meet was more about participation than competition, so with Ling Jianshu representing them, the others didn’t bother signing up for other events.
The day of the sports meet arrived in no time.
In the morning, the official track and field events began, and Ling Jianshu, the sole representative of dorm 603, stepped onto the field for the 3000-meter race.
Qiao Song, along with Cheng Yuan and Liu Junming, stood in the stands, excitedly cheering for him.
Dressed in his athletic gear, he looked dashing and fit, with well-defined muscles and a powerful stride. Every step he took exuded strength, like a scene from a movie, causing the girls in the crowd to scream in excitement.
From a distance, Qiao Song watched him, his heart racing uncontrollably at the thought that such a dazzling man liked him.
As the race progressed, Ling Jianshu began to pull away from the other competitors. During the final lap, he sprinted with all his might, surpassing all the others and crossing the finish line at a remarkable speed.
Breathless, he rushed toward where Qiao Song stood, and without caring about the people around them, he threw himself into his arms.
Qiao Song was startled, instinctively aware of the surrounding stares, and wanted to push him away.
But something deep inside stopped him.
Instead of pushing him away, he hesitated for a moment and then hugged him tightly.
At that moment, a girl blushingly approached Ling Jianshu, offering him a bottle of water.
He looked at her expressionlessly and said in a flat voice, “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”
The girl, flustered, stammered, “N-no, you’ve got it wrong, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just wanted to give you… the water…”
Ling Jianshu nodded. “I didn’t misunderstand. I just really don’t need it.”
His cold response left the girl more embarrassed and awkward.
At this point, Qiao Song fully realized that Ling Jianshu was truly an unattainable “campus heartthrob” to everyone else. And it seemed like every ounce of the rare tenderness in this heartthrob’s heart was reserved solely for him.
As if to confirm Qiao Song’s thoughts, Ling Jianshu took the water bottle from his hand.
In front of everyone, he twisted off the cap and drank the rest of the water that Qiao Song had left behind.
Qiao Song stared at him, and when he saw his Adam’s apple move as he swallowed, he couldn’t help but feel his own throat dry up.
He quickly averted his gaze, not daring to keep staring at him, instead letting his eyes wander elsewhere.
What he saw was troubling—so many people around them were staring at Ling Jianshu, their gazes like hungry predators eyeing prey…
Ling Jianshu liked him, so why should those unrelated people get to look at him like that?
A wave of jealousy surged in his heart, and his expression darkened slightly.
After finishing the water, Ling Jianshu keenly sensed his silence.
“What’s wrong, Qiao Qiao?” he asked, holding the empty bottle.
Qiao Song shook his head, speaking softly. “It’s nothing.”
Ling Jianshu frowned and reached out to lift his chin, forcing him to look into his eyes. “Liar, you don’t look happy.”
“Really, it’s nothing,” Qiao Song paused for a moment, unable to deceive himself, and then added quietly, “I just think you’re too popular. A lot of people are staring at you.”
Ling Jianshu froze for a moment. Seeing Qiao Song’s frustrated expression, he finally realized why he was upset.
How could someone be this adorable?
His heart melted. Unable to contain himself, he grabbed his wrist and pulled him to a secluded corner behind the podium.
He pushed him against the wall with force, their lips almost touching. Instead of kissing him immediately, he rubbed his lips against his and asked, “Qiao Qiao, are you jealous?”
“I’m not!” Qiao Song denied angrily. Then, realizing how unconvincing his rebuttal sounded, he gave up and added, “So what if I am?”
“I like it,” Ling Jianshu said softly before lowering his head and kissing him fiercely.
Qiao Song’s eyes widened in surprise but, unable to resist, he slowly opened his lips in response.
Ling Jianshu’s kiss became even more passionate, as if he wanted to devour him completely. Feeling the intensity of Ling Jianshu’s desire and affection, Qiao Song closed his eyes.
Around them, there was a constant buzz of noise: the podium announcing the competition results, people chatting and laughing as they passed by. All of this added a thrilling sense of secrecy to their kiss.
Qiao Song was nearly breathless and thought that drowning in Ling Jianshu’s kisses might not be such a bad thing.
After what felt like an eternity, Ling Jianshu finally pulled back. He gently brushed his fingers over Qiao Song’s cheek, wiping away the wetness from his lips.
It took a long moment for both of them to regain their composure before they rejoined the crowd.
Cheng Yuan saw them coming back and couldn’t stop staring at Qiao Song’s face. Noticing his swollen lips, he couldn’t help but smile knowingly.
