- Chapter 6.1: Astonishing Technique
In the instant the countdown ended, Shi Feng leaned forward, his legs bent, like a cheetah, suddenly exerting force and bursting out of the starting line.
With a whoosh, Shi Feng had already run a distance of 3 yards before the sound of gunfire rang out and hit the starting line.
Following that was another round of gunfire. Six bullets were fired, sealing off Shi Feng’s path forward. Shi Feng’s body was covered in green predictive bullet trajectories. If his reflexes weren’t quick enough, he would be riddled with bullets.
Seeing the bullets flying towards him, Shi Feng sidestepped, dodging about a yard to the right, avoiding the second round of shots, and then charging forward again.
Although the three goblins continuously aimed and fired, with bullets shells dropping to the ground, making clinking sounds, the agile Shi Feng seemed to dominate the bullets, always able to dodge ahead of them. When the next round of bullets came, he advanced a few more steps.
“No way, he’s already advanced 10 yards so quickly.” The male priest watched as Shi Feng passed the ten-yard line in less than 5 seconds, almost twice as fast as his Boss Kuang, Kuang Feng, and was amazed.
Kuang Feng remained silent on the side, quietly watching Shi Feng’s progress.
Originally, they thought Shi Feng was a rookie, even Kuang Feng didn’t know him, coming to the challenge field for fun. However, his previous performance was so swift and precise, as if he had honed his skills for years on the challenge field, with every move simple and efficient, something an ordinary rookie couldn’t achieve. Even after going through many challenges himself, he felt he couldn’t dodge as well.
But Kuang Feng had the pride of a master, believing that Shi Feng couldn’t be stronger than him, explaining, “Maybe this newcomer is an athlete, so he’s so agile, but once he passes 15 yards, the goblins’ attack pattern will change, and he definitely won’t be able to hold on then.”
“Boss Kuang is right, someone unknown to even our [Assassin Alliance] certainly isn’t a master. Once he reaches 15 yards, he’ll definitely be startled and end up riddled with bullets in the end.”
“Yeah, once past 15 yards, the bullets fired will increase to 12, no longer focusing on individual players, with a very broad bullet trajectory coverage. Dodging left or right definitely won’t work.”
Other members of the [Assassin Alliance] expressed their agreement one after another, after all, they had watched similar challenges seven or eight times.
When Kuang Feng first challenged, he only passed 15 yards, but in subsequent challenges, he only reached a distance of 20 yards, showing how difficult it was after 15 yards.
“He’s passed 15 yards.” A member of the [Assassin Alliance] said.
Suddenly, Kuang Feng and the others’ gazes all focused on Shi Feng, wanting to see what he would do next.
In the challenge field, after Shi Feng stepped beyond the 15-yard line, the three goblins displayed extreme anger, crazily firing their guns without focusing on aiming.
Suddenly, a vast area of trajectories covered Shi Feng’s field of vision, but only three bullets could hit him. However, being hit by just one bullet would end the game.
“Finally resorting to dirty tricks?” Shi Feng smiled calmly, drew out his novice sword, and charged towards the bullets.
In his previous life, as the Boss Kuang of the [Duskwalkers Union], Shi Feng was too busy with work and leveling up to have time to play challenges. However, he had watched many challenges and was quite clear about them, knowing that goblins would change their attack pattern after 15 yards.
In the black market challenge, the 15-yard distance could be said to be the benchmark for judging players’ operational skills. Only by passing the 15-yard distance and winning the Bronze prize could one be considered to have mastered basic physical skills.
However, most players took two to three months to reach this level, while a few passed within a month. Only a very few skilled players could pass it in one go, and Kuang Feng was one of them.
Watching the three bullets about to hit Shi Feng’s head, chest, and arm,
“This kid really can’t make it. There are too many bullets and they’re too scattered. He’s forgotten to dodge and is foolishly charging forward.” Kuang Feng saw Shi Feng charging straight into the bullets’ path, thinking it was too foolish. Did he think the challenge would continue even if he was hit by one or two bullets?
At this moment, Shi Feng’s head tilted to one side, he swung his novice sword, and a white light flashed.
Bang!
The novice sword swung perfectly, easily intercepting the bullet from the chest, sparking a small fire.
Three dangerous bullets were easily deflected by Shi Feng, and he advanced another stretch of distance.
However, the three goblins had no intention of stopping. Their rifles seemed to change into machine guns, with tongues of fire constantly spewing out. The intervals between each round of shots were very short. In an instant, Shi Feng would face five bullets again, with bullets blocking every possible evasion route, making it impossible to avoid.
Clang clang clang!
While quickly wielding the novice sword to block the unavoidable bullets, Shi Feng moved his body to avoid being hit, letting the bullets graze past him. He even heard the sound of bullets piercing through the air beside his ears.
After just another three seconds, Shi Feng passed the 20-yard mark, only 10 yards away from the finish line.
“Dear lord, is this kid even human? He can actually block bullets with his sword.” The male priest’s eyes widened in disbelief. The shock Shi Feng brought him was indescribable.
Although knowing the trajectory of the bullets, precisely blocking them was not something that could be achieved by just talking about it. It required extremely accurate judgment and skill, with a margin of error that was incredibly small.
Kuang Feng was speechless. Using a weapon to block bullets was like walking on a tightrope in the sky. One wrong move and you’d fall into the abyss. Yet, Shi Feng seemed to enjoy it, blocking the flying bullets time and time again, while the other bullets seemed to have a life of their own, dodging Shi Feng’s body.
“Boss Kuang, that [Swordsman] has already reached 25 yards. He’s definitely going to pass the finish line now.” The male priest watched as Shi Feng danced forward, occasionally sparking in front of him, feeling completely bewildered inside.
“I have eyes, I don’t need your reminders.” Kuang Feng, who was also deeply attracted by Shi Feng’s movements, impatiently replied back.
