Madness of the Blue Blood Labyrinth - Chapter 13
“Ahhh, well done, well done. That was pretty fun.”
If I mutter things like that after a fight, I might get misunderstood as someone who loves violence. But it’s not the violence I enjoy — it’s the thrill.
—
…Still, despite its power and toughness, it’s just a straight-line charger. No agility, no quick turns, and an obvious weak spot.
If you have shock-resistant gear and can use combat skills with some strategy, all you’d need is a bit of athleticism and the guts to face down that massive thing. Easy to handle.
—
No need for a third round with it. No matter how many times we fight, I’d probably beat it the same way every time.
Since it’s the Floor Boss, I’ll be forced to fight it if I want to go deeper, but… what was its respawn time again? Five minutes? That’s dedication. If it works this hard, it should demand a pay raise, the overworked corporate slave.
—
“So, what do you think, oh mighty senior? You can drop some advice on skill usage or tactics if you feel like it.”
“…Took you twenty-five seconds to take it down. Honestly, that’s not the kind of fight a beginner on their second dungeon run should be capable of.”
—
Rize grumbles, her expression anything but cute.
What a way to put it.
—
“To be honest, your style is so different from mine that I don’t think I can give any advice that would really help.”
“Fair enough. And yeah, it’s hard to imagine you fighting the way I do.”
—
I’d be shocked to see her taking on blows with those slender arms.
Not that it’s impossible if she has the right skills. That’s the beauty of having customizable skill slots.
—
“Seriously though, a Floor Boss five days after your debut? What was your time to reach it? Did you set a world record or something?”
“Sorry, my ten-floor solo clear was six hours and thirty-seven minutes. The world record is held by someone in Germany at forty-eight hours and twelve minutes. Fastest in Japan is just over fifty hours. If I hadn’t dawdled along the way, maybe I could’ve beaten it, who knows.”
—
The number of creatures defeated and time spent in the dungeon are recorded by nanomachines injected by the Association upon registration and sent to the server via a wrist device.
Apparently, they can even pull video data linked to your visual and audio feeds if they want to. There are S-Tubers who make money by uploading highlights of their dungeon runs.
—
“Either way, I don’t care about those petty records. Let’s go. Would be annoying if we waste time and it respawns.”
“Agreed.”
—
The staircase to the eleventh floor, cleared now that the Floor Boss was defeated.
Past this point, we’ll move from the Forest Area to the Plains Area.
—
“Since we’re having so much fun, and there’s a chance to see our dear senior’s skills in action, I’ll stick with my original plan and escort you all the way to the thirteenth floor.”
“Typically, making it to the teens in floor count is something most do after six months, you know.”
The faster, the better, right?
