Madness of the Blue Blood Labyrinth - Chapter 10
In the back of the Kofu branch grounds stood an annex the size of a soccer stadium.
At its center was a stone gate large enough to allow a massive truck to pass through, covered by a thin film that resembled a soap bubble. Passing through it brought you into the dungeon.
“Even though it’s just this thin film, only those with slots can pass through. It’s pretty bizarre.”
During the early days of dungeons, every possible method was attempted to either destroy or seal these gates, but all efforts ended in failure.
Even missiles capable of wiping out an entire city didn’t leave a scratch. Huge machinery that could collapse mountains couldn’t move it an inch.
There was even a plan to fill it with cement. However, the unknown energy emitted by the gate caused the entire area to explode when it was sealed.
On top of that, leaving the creatures inside the dungeon unchecked would eventually cause serious problems.
After various incidents and negotiations, humanity’s relationship with dungeons settled into its current form.
“I don’t care about all the technical details.”
“Couldn’t agree more.”
Among the thousands of different creatures confirmed so far, goblins are considered the weakest.
But don’t underestimate them. Their physical abilities far exceed that of an average adult human.
In other words, they’re considerably stronger than ordinary people.
That said, their strength only slightly surpasses human averages. On top of that, they’re practically naked, and their weapons are little more than crude swords and spears.
For someone with a slot, as long as you’ve got decent equipment and a combat-related skill, even women can take them down easily.
As for me, with physical abilities that far exceed average, I don’t even need weapons.
“Oh, spotted my fifth one.”
Creatures can only be damaged by weapons made from dungeon materials, skills, or the bodies of those with slots.
Similarly, you can only block their attacks with armor made from dungeon materials, skills, or the bodies of slot-holders.
Even a heavy tank with thick armor would be destroyed by a mere hit from a goblin.
That’s one reason why gear designed to fight creatures is so expensive.
“Die.”
I kicked the goblin to death with boots coated in a special oil that temporarily grants items slight attack and defense power.
Each tiny bottle costs 3,000 yen, but without it, the boots would break from a single kick.
“It’d be better if we could at least use the swords these things carry.”
“Sometimes they drop loot, but the swords have about the same strength as wooden practice swords.”
Useless.
“That’s why I told you to get an entry-level gear set. If you’d gone with Kitora’s budget set, you could’ve afforded a full set within your budget.”
Kitora? Oh, that’s the stuff that looks like a kendo outfit knock-off.
“No way I’m wearing something that ugly. I’d consider something like Elysion’s high-end model.”
“Just the gauntlets alone cost around 10 million yen.”
That’s… expensive.
