Chapter 11: Old Dong, Do You Want a Wife?
After further experimentation, Dong Jianren discovered that he could summon items from his backpack at will, without needing to open the live stream page.
And so, after seven days in the hospital, Dong Jianren was finally discharged.
Returning to his long-abandoned little house, Dong Jianren felt a surge of emotion.
“Home sweet home!”
His medical expenses had been fully covered by the police, not costing him a single cent. Of course, with his empty pockets, Dong Jianren couldn’t have afforded it anyway.
Thinking of this, Dong Jianren, sitting in his second-hand gaming chair, opened the exchange point page again. He quickly skimmed past the strange and unusual items, heading straight to the bottom right corner of the page.
[10,000 RMB, (Note: If I were you, I wouldn’t do such a stupid thing. (¬_¬) ) Worth 100 exchange points.]
“You’re the stupid one! Not earning money when you can is foolish!”
Saying this, Dong Jianren pointed his finger at the exchange button, but when it came to inputting the exchange amount, his finger hovered hesitantly in mid-air.
After some internal struggle, he changed the exchange amount from 100,000 to 10,000.
“I’m not afraid of you! I just think it’s not safe to have 100,000 in hand. I’m afraid someone might steal it.”
Dong Jianren didn’t want to admit that he had indeed been influenced by that note, so he offered a stubborn explanation.
But anyone who had been to Dong Jianren’s house would know that even the dumbest thief wouldn’t bother robbing him. If a thief came, they’d probably leave behind two bags of flour out of pity.
As he pressed the exchange button, an icon of a stack of banknotes appeared in his backpack. With a thought, the stack of banknotes, smelling of fresh ink, appeared in his hand.
He greedily examined the banknotes, checking their authenticity. After confirming they were real, Dong Jianren burst into laughter.
“Hahaha, I’m rich! I’m rich! No, I need to go out and spend this right now! I’m going to live a life of luxury!”
Dong Jianren, with his arm still in a cast, got up and headed out. He arrived at the most prosperous street in Shancheng, also the city’s largest red-light district. Looking at the scantily clad women posing on the roadside, Dong Jianren couldn’t stop drooling.
“Should I go for a solo adventure? Or a romantic duo? Or maybe an all-out brawl? Hehe.”
Reality proved that a loser is still a loser. Dong Jianren still didn’t have the guts to try the game of exchanging money for love, even if it was just fleeting.

A man in flip-flops and a faded T-shirt sat at a roadside stall, devouring his food. He occasionally picked up a piece of hot grilled cold noodles and then took a swig of beer.
“Ah, after all, I’m a fine young man raised under the red flag and nurtured by the spring breeze. That shallow game is not suitable for me.”
Dong Jianren stuffed another large piece of grilled cold noodles into his mouth.
“Life is still enjoyable this way.”
After three rounds of drinks and five dishes, Dong Jianren swayed his way home. Since his parents’ accidental death, Dong Jianren had never indulged himself like this. Even though he was eating at a roadside stall and drinking cheap beer, he was still extremely happy. By the time he got home, he was already tipsy.
Without bothering to turn on the lights, Dong Jianren collapsed onto the bed and started snoring. Half asleep, he sensed some strange movements beside him.
At first, he didn’t pay much attention, but after turning over, his hand suddenly encountered something soft and slightly warm.
“Hmm? What’s this?”
Though he thought this, his hand subconsciously squeezed a few times.
A soft moan sounded beside his ear.
This instantly sobered Dong Jianren up, and he sprang up like a jack-in-the-box.
He quickly turned on the light.
Seeing the girl in the white dress still in front of him, Dong Jianren’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
Unsure if it was his loud outburst or his earlier rough handling, he saw the girl pressing her chest and rubbing her sleepy eyes as she looked at the flustered Dong Jianren.
“Sister, where did you come from? How did you find my house? Say something!”
The girl seemed oblivious to Dong Jianren’s words. She glanced up at him, then lay back down, pulling the blanket tighter around herself.
“Sister! Where did you come from? How did you find my house? Say something!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Dong Jianren regretted them. He knew this girl couldn’t speak, and his question was insensitive.
But the girl clearly didn’t mind his words. She even made a few snorting sounds, like a piglet.
Watching the girl fall asleep again, Dong Jianren couldn’t sleep anymore.
“What is going on?”
He gently nudged the girl a few times, but she was fast asleep and didn’t respond. He gave up on trying to wake her up.
Looking at the sleeping girl, Dong Jianren recalled a line from a movie he had seen a long time ago.
“Old Xu, do you want a wife? I’ll send you one if you do!”
The frustrated Dong Jianren scratched his head vigorously.
“Damn it! I’m not Old Xu! I’m your Grandpa Dong~”
