Little Family Treasure of the Apocalyptic Boss - Ch 70
Chapter 70 Learning to Walk
Three days later, the little snake sub-beast woke up from his slumber.
The first sensation was a slight hunger in his stomach.
The second sensation was the softness on his two tails. Huh?! Two tails?! Nuo Nuo didn’t have two tails!
In a daze, the little snake sub-beast’s eyes flicked open, and he sat up abruptly from the bed. Pulling aside the blanket covering him, he saw two slender white… legs?
The little snake sub-beast rubbed his eyes and took another look. He realized that the dream of having legs that he never had was still boldly displayed there. Immediately, he lay back down, burying himself under the blanket again and closing his eyes.
He was just a mutated white snake sub-beastman, with only one white tail. Where did the legs come from?
This dream was bullying the weak and sick. It was too much!
The little snake sub-beast huffed and puffed while flipping around in the big blanket. He decided that when he woke up from this dream, he would definitely complain to Ye Zi. How dare this bad dream bully him like this.
“Hehe.” Ye Ze, along with several world spirits, had been guarding by the bed for three days. Now that the little snake sub-beast had put on such a show by himself, their tense spirits finally relaxed, and they couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“?”
A string of question marks suddenly appeared from under the blanket. Then, with a couple of arches, the messy little head of the snake sub-beast emerged from the blanket, looking dazedly at Ye Ze.
Blinking once, then again, the golden beans immediately gathered momentum.
Wow! The bad dream even brought Ye Ze to mock him!
What’s wrong with not having legs? Did not having legs eat your rice? Clearly, all the rice here is grown by Nuo Nuo’s family! QAQ Ye Ze was startled by the suddenly aggrieved expression on the little snake sub-beast’s face. He dared not laugh anymore and quickly stood up to wipe away the tears from the little snake sub-beast’s eyes. It was like a primary school student who got caught daydreaming by the class teacher, with a “dazed” on the left and a “heart” on the right, carefully planning every move in his mind before putting it into action.
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Nuo Nuo, tell Ye Zi what’s wrong, okay? Does your leg still hurt?” Ye Ze coaxed gently and kindly.
“Sob. It doesn’t hurt.” The little snake sub-beast, still feeling sad, took the time to answer Ye Ze’s question, behaving obediently. As soon as he finished speaking, he felt that compromising his momentum while advocating for justice weakened his stance. Immediately, he straightened his expression and emphasized, “But the tail is shiny and chubby, which is also beautiful!”
Ye Ze momentarily couldn’t figure out the logical chain of the little snake sub-beast’s thoughts.
But anyway, applause was the way to go.
“Well, Nuo Nuo’s tail is the most beautiful.” Ye Ze touched the little snake sub-beast’s head, smiling reassuringly, “If Nuo Nuo likes his own tail, there’s no need to worry. After a while, once you get used to it, you can freely transform like other sub-beastmen.”
After a while?
The little snake sub-beast belatedly reacted to the real sensation on his body. His eyes lit up instantly, and he raised his arm, once again pulling back the blanket.
It really was legs!
Nuo Nuo could also differentiate legs now!
The little snake sub-beast excitedly wiggled his feet, which he saw for the first time, and smiled with curved eyes. Turning his head, he corrected, “Then legs are still prettier!”
Now, Ye Ze finally understood the little snake sub-beast’s mental journey and couldn’t help but laugh dumbly. He pinched the little snake sub-beast’s cheeks and pulled them outward, “Both the tail and the legs are beautiful. As long as it’s Nuo Nuo, Ye Zi likes them. Likes them the most.”
The little snake sub-beast blushed quietly.
It was much better progress than before when he fell into the steamer like a whole snake.
“Is there anywhere else that Nuo Nuo doesn’t feel well now?” Ye Ze checked the little snake sub-beast’s temperature and looked at the curious little feet moving around, asking with concern.
The four world spirits also gathered around, forming a semicircle by the bed, gazing at the little snake sub-beast on the bed with concern.
The little snake sub-beast felt a bit nervous under the solemn gaze of those pairs of eyes. After thinking carefully for a moment, he replied uncertainly, “It seems like there might be?”
Ye Ze’s just-relaxed heart was instantly tense again.
Then he watched as the little snake sub-beast pitifully touched his stomach and said, “Nuo Nuo is hungry.”
Ye Ze: “…”
The world spirits: “…”
Delicious food was hastily brought over and laid out on the small table on the bed.
The little snake sub-beast sat back against the head of the bed, surrounded by soft plush, with a few cute plush toys scattered around. After finishing the snake porridge in the empty bowl, he closed his eyes contentedly.
“I’m full!”
The little snake sub-beast subconsciously wagged the tip of his tail. The newly formed legs followed suit, arching out two small bumps under the blanket.
“!” The little snake sub-beast’s movements stiffened for a moment, startled by himself. He looked at the blanket beside his feet, then at Ye Ze, still feeling a bit dreamy.
Had the legs he had been longing for for over a decade really appeared after just one sleep?
“Nuo Nuo didn’t just sleep normally.” Ye Ze directed the vines to collect the bowls and chopsticks. His fingers traversed through the little snake sub-beast’s hair, affectionately straightening the tufts on top of his head. Summarizing under the little snake sub-beast’s puzzled gaze, he said, “Nuo Nuo slept for a whole three days.”
“Three, three days?” He thought it was just the early morning of the day he woke up.
The little snake sub-beast was stunned. Then, he flipped over, and when he tried to stand up, he stumbled a bit unaccustomedly.
Ye Ze quickly reached out to support him, and the little snake sub-beast grabbed Ye Ze’s arm, looking at him with concern, “Has Ye Zi been sitting here for three days?”
“For us beastmen, this is nothing. Look at me, I’m still energetic, not even a trace of dark circles under my eyes.” But he was scared enough by the sudden situation of the little snake sub-beast.
Ye Ze leaned in, kissed and rubbed the little snake sub-beast’s cheek, comforting the self-blaming little snake sub-beast.
Then he lightly patted the little snake sub-beast’s thigh, watching as the little snake sub-beast shrank sensitively. With his lips close to the little snake sub-beast’s ear, he whispered, “Nuo Nuo, with legs, you have to learn to walk.”
The little snake sub-beast’s thin face inevitably turned red with embarrassment.
But Nuo Nuo was no longer the sub-beastman who would want to escape at the first sign of difficulty.
“Nuo Nuo will learn quickly!” The little snake sub-beast puffed up his chest confidently and promised, “With Ye Zi, Nuo Nuo will learn faster than a little mermaid!”
Ye Ze was stunned for a second. He hugged the unsuspecting little snake sub-beast, his heart pounding incessantly. Three days of unprecedented vitality awakened.
“Yeah. Believe in Nuo Nuo. Nuo Nuo is the smartest.”
The little snake sub-beast smiled brightly.
He hugged his beastman partner tightly in return.
The two solemn feeders of dog food suffered a huge setback.
When Ming Ya and Ling Jue arrived in the afternoon after receiving the news, the little snake sub-beast was still stumbling around with Ye Ze’s guidance, learning to walk.
Contrary to expectations, the situation where he would be able to start soaring after just one contact with more than a decade of experience did not occur at all.
Instead, being accustomed to sliding with a snake tail, some subconscious reactions severely affected the assessment of the results.
The little snake sub-beast glanced at Ming Ya, who was laughing beside him, feeling aggrieved.
“Nuo Nuo actually doesn’t need to be too eager, just keep a calm attitude,” An Jue handed the lukewarm water to the little snake sub-beast, soothingly saying, “When kids learn to walk, it’s not an instant thing. Nuo Nuo’s progress is already quite fast, and being impatient can lead to more mistakes. Don’t believe me? Ask them.”
An Jue and Ye Ze simultaneously turned their heads, staring at Ming Ya.
“…,” Ming Ya felt his scalp tingling under the gaze of these two beastmen lacking in gentlemanly demeanor. When the little snake sub-beast followed their gaze, he nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes, Nuo Nuo learns incredibly fast. When I was a kid learning to walk, I was far behind Nuo Nuo.”
“But Nuo Nuo is not a kid anymore,” the little snake sub-beast puffed out his cheeks, unwilling to accept it.
An Jue’s eyes twinkled with amusement, “In the eyes of elders, Nuo Nuo will always be a kid.”
The little snake sub-beast shyly lowered his head, fiddling with his clothes with his fingers. For some reason, he felt elated and warm inside.
It was a satisfaction completely different from Ye Ze’s praise.
Ye Ze glanced at An Jue, his gaze flickering slightly.
An Jue didn’t arrive early today, which was in line with his busy role as a major figure. However, similarly, the “consolation gifts” An Jue brought were much more than usual.
Ye Ze had reason to believe that the other party had also confirmed certain things.
“Nuo Nuo, you’ve been training for so long, you must be tired. Today happens to be the official completion day of the picking farm, and there are many seasonal fruits hanging during the fruiting season. Why don’t you go play with Grey, Ming Ya, and the others? Ming Ya can also give us some advice.”
The little snake sub-beast’s gaze lingered on Ye Ze and An Jue for a while, obediently nodding, “Okay. I’ll make sure to pick the biggest and most delicious apples for Ye Zi!”
Ye Ze smirked inwardly as he glanced at the little snake sub-beast’s legs.
Little one, you can’t even walk steadily yet. If you can rely on yourself and safely reach the nearby picking garden with people, he would be grateful.
But he dared not imagine the big apples on the trees.
Ye Ze added a guarding command to the vines escorting the group. He watched as the excited and curious two sub-beastmen and four world spirits, along with the stumbling little snake sub-beast, walked away. He extended his hand in the opposite direction, inviting, “Shall we talk, Your Majesty the White Dragon?”
An Jue was not surprised that Ye Ze could guess his identity and calmly followed suit.
He had the same intention.
“I heard from the world spirits that Nuo Nuo will grow dragon horns after a while. During the recovery period, the characteristics of the dragon race cannot be hidden. What are your plans?” Ye Ze asked directly.
He held the dimensional mall, of course, having countless ways to conceal the little snake sub-beast’s identity.
But Nuo Nuo was clearly supposed to be a god among men. Even if he didn’t want to return to the dragon race, there was absolutely no reason for him to be so constrained.
He had to see the attitude of the dragon race.
“Can you hear the voices of the world spirits?” An Jue’s heart felt slightly complicated. After learning of the decision of the world spirits, he completely let go of his inquiry into Ye Ze, “Rest assured, these people will all be dealt with before Nuo Nuo awakens. I will welcome him into a safe dragon clan.”
“But don’t you think that just such punishment is not enough?” The little snake sub-beast now lived so peacefully and happily, but the hardships of the past ten years would not disappear.
If that was the little snake sub-beast’s own background, it would be fine.
But it wasn’t!
The things that should have belonged to the little snake sub-beast were stolen by others.
Now he was going to make sure those people gave them back. Even the things they ate, they had to spit out double!
“…,” An Jue and Ye Ze’s fierce gazes met, then they suddenly laughed and shook their heads, “You will really get along well with Nuo Yan. So, what’s your plan?”
Ye Ze raised an eyebrow, not inquiring about the other’s intentions.
“Those who come to trouble Nuo Nuo and me now, one of their shadows has already appeared. I have no reason to let them go.” Ye Ze’s tone was stern, but his lips were curved in a smile. He added with irony, “Since they are so eager for fame, I might as well help them.”
For some people, the most terrifying thing was not death, but craving something their whole life, only to have it destroyed when it was within reach.
And he would shatter those things even more thoroughly.
